Russell "Gene" Dugger, age 79, of Laurel Bloomery, TN, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at the Mountain City Care Center. Gene was the son of the late Russell and Ruth Dugger of Neva, TN. Gene was also preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Helen Dugger; 3 daughters, Patsy Ellis of Granite Falls, NC; Kimberly Young and husband Ronald of Vale, NC; and Kristy Dugger and fiancé Brian DuPerry of Laurel Bloomery, TN; 3 sons, Tony Dugger of Mountain City, TN; Wayne Dugger and wife Kathy of Newton, NC; Roger Dugger and wife Lois of Mountain City, TN; one sister Gloria "Pete" Anthony and one brother Joey Dugger. Mr. Dugger is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 2:00PM from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home. Rev. James Richardson will be officiating. Graveside and internment will follow at Baker's Gap Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM, at the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel. Pallbearers will be Derick Roberts, Jason Dugger, Sidney Reid, Thomas Lipford, Cory Johnson, and Evan Nichols. Honorary Pallbearers: Brian DuPerry Sr., Brian DuPerry Jr., and Noah Nichols.
