    Pansy Parlee Courtner, age 90, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, January 06, 2018 at the Watauga Medical Center. She was born on June 6, 1927 to the late Clyde and Susie Fritts Courtner. In addition to her parents, Pansy was preceded in death by daughter, Edith Poore; sister, Kate Courtner; brothers: Walt Courtner, Lloyd Courtner and Howard Courtner and great grandchild, Ronnie Clayton Mc-Call.

    Prior to her declining health, Pansy enjoyed working in her garden and flower beds. She always loved to sit on her porch and enjoy the outdoors and visit with family and friends. She was a member of Dewey Christian Church.

    Those left to cherish her memories include her children: Barbara Gentry and special friend, Gerald, Jean Oliver, Rosa Gentry and husband Frankie, Kathy Courtner and Sanford Courtner; sister, Violet Phillips; brother, Clarence Courtner; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with grandson, Pastor Shannon Courtner officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.

    Notes:

    Kate O. Courtner, age 81, of 955 R.D. Campbell Road, Butler, Tennessee passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was a daughter of the late Clyde Courtner who passed away in 1995 and her mother Susie Fritts Courtner who passed away in 1948. Ms. Courtner was a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church.

    She was a homemaker who loved gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers; Walt Courtner, Loyd Courtner, and Howard Courtner.

    Survivors include: three sons: Marvin Courtner, of the Home, I.G. Courtner, Butler, Tennessee and Kenneth Courtner and wife Vickie, Mountain City, Tennessee. two sisters: Violet Phillips of Butler, Tennessee Parlee Courtner, Mountain City, Tennessee and a brother Clarence Courtner, of Mountain City, Tennessee; ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    A funeral service for Kate will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017

    in the Charles B. Hux Chapel of Hux & Lipford Funeral Home the family will receive friends from 6 until 7 prior to the funeral service, with Rev. Shannon Courtner officiating.

    Pallbearers will be Donald Courtner, James Courtner, Tommy Courtner, and Eddie Dickens.

    Graveside Service will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at 2 pm. in the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

    Kenneth W. "Jack" Courtner, age 62, of 357 Atwood Street, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Saturday August 18,2018 at the Johnson County Community Hospital, Mountain City, TN. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Ralph Smith and Kate Fritts Courtner.

    Those left to cherish Jack's memory are his loving wife, Vicky of the home, his daughter Marie Oates (Mike), 4 sons James Courtner (Angel), Donnie Courtner (Stephanie), Tommy Courtner (Amanda), and Kenneth Courtner Jr. all of Mountain City, TN, 2 brothers Isaac and Marvin Courtner of Butler, TN, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephew, special friends Eddie Dickens and the Charles Osborne family, and his loving dog and constant companion Lady.

    Pallbearers will be Eddie Dickens, Clarence Courtner, Bobby Courtner, Edie Courtner, and Howard Courtner with honorary pallbearers being the men from Rocksprings Church of Christ.

    The family will receive friends at the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, from 5pm – 7pm. Services will be conducted by Rev. Shannon Courtner on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 10:30am in the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel with graveside services to follow at Rocksprings Baptist Church Cemetery in Butler, TN.
