Mrs. Maude J. Winters, 92, 321 Winters Road, Roan Mountain, died Thursday, April 3, 2003 at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Matilda Fields Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pink Winters; a son, Harold Winters, and a daughter, Rosa Winters Thomas.
Survivors include three sons, David Winters, Elmer Winters and Tom Winters, all of Roan Mountain; two daughters, Frankie Crawford, of Elk Park, N.C., and Ruby Smith, of Strongville, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

WINTERS -- Graveside services for Mrs. Maude Johnson Winters, 92, 321 Winters Road, Roan Mountain, who died Thursday, April 3, 2003, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003 in the Richardson Cemetery, Morgan Branch Road, Roan Mountain, with Mr. Gerald Holly, minister, officiating. Burial will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. April 3, 2003

Maude married Pink Winters about 1930. Pink (son of William Hamilton "Ham" Winters and Rosa Bishop) was born on 22 Aug 1908 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 27 Nov 1977 in , Avery County, North Carolina, ; was buried in Richardson Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee.
