ELIZABETHTON - U.G. Cole, age 90, of the Stoney Creek community of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
He was a son of the late Albert and Amanda Campbell Cole and was born in Carter County on June 2, 1928. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Cole and Massie Cole; two brothers, Spurgeon Cole and Conley Cole; and two sisters, Myrtle Nidiffer and Juanita Hardin.
U.G. retried after twenty-two years from the Carter County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church, enjoyed listening to gospel and bluegrass music and loved working around his home.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty-five years, Ethel Linville Cole of the home; four sons, Terry Cole of Elizabethton, Willie Cole and Grant Cole, both of N.C. and Randy Cole and his wife, Theresa of Elizabethton; two daughters, Geneva Lauterbach and Barbara Ann Teston and her husband, Jim, all of N.C.; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral/graveside service to honor the life of U.G. Cole will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Garland Cemetery in the Stoney Creek Community of Elizabethton.
