    JOHNSON CITY - Reverend Dallas James Hartley, Sr., age 79, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord at the Johnson City Medical Center, on Saturday, May 4, 2019.

    He was a native of Mountain City, Tennessee and was a son of the late Thomas and Berthie Jenkins Hartley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, his first love, Frances Louise Hartley: two daughters, Cindy Hartley and Tammy Sue Harrell; a great granddaughter, Serenity Dawn Guinn; three brothers, Paul, Clyde and Carl Hartley; one sister, Maude Munsey.

    Dallas was a veteran of the United States National Guard and was a member of Full Gospel Holiness Church, and was the founder of Living by Faith Church, Elizabethton. His true love was spreading the word of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed tending to his yard.

    Those left to cherish his memory include, his wife, Barbara Hartley, Elizabethton; four children, Karen Bailey, and her husband Rick, of Elizabethton, Dallas Hartley, Jr., of Elizabethton, Michael Hartley, and his wife Kimberly, of Elizabethton, Melissa Sheets, and her husband Billy, of Elizabethton; twenty one grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie Hartley, of Johnson City, Luther Hartley, of Johnson City; three sisters, Helen Odom, of Johnson City, Ivalee Copas, of Johnson City, Ruby Beckett, of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive.

    A service to honor the life of Reverend Dallas James Hartley, Sr. will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 08, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Reverend Robert Keller, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Brandon Harrell and Randall Gentry. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

    A graveside service will follow the 2:00 PM service on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 leaving from Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, going in Procession to Buckles Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be, Cody Hartley, Zachary Tolley, Gavin Tolley, Billy Rose, Brandon Harrell, Houston Hartley, Kalway Heaton. Honorary pallbearers are as follows, Seth Tolley, Drake Hartley, Tyler Blevins, Jesse Hartley, Ender Draper, Ethan Heaton, Phoenix Hartley.

    Maude M. Munsey, 76, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

    Born in Johnson County, TN, Maude was a mother to five boys, but she was a mother and a friend to everyone. Kind, generous, and loving, a privilege for anyone who knew her.

    She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Bertha Hartley. She is also preceded in death by her husband David Munsey; three brothers Clyde, Paul, and Carl Hartley.

    Maude is survived by five sons; Danny, Benny, William "Will", David Jr., and Michael Munsey; three brothers Luther, Dallas, and Charlie Hartley; three sisters Iva Lee Copas, Ruby Becket, and Helen Odom; grandchildren Joslyn, Christopher W., April, Tonya, and Jasmine Munsey; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends 12-2 pm Friday, Aug. 31 in the east chapel of Allen Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 2 pm, with Rev. Jack Greene officiating. Interment will follow in Historic Bethesda Cemetery.

    JOHNSON CITY - Charles “Charlie” Clayton Hartley, 68, Johnson City passed away Friday, May 13, 2022 at his residence. A native of Mountain City, he was a son of the late Thomas and Bertha Jenkins Hartley. He had lived in Carter County most of his life. Charlie was retired as a truck driver with the City of Johnson City Waste Water Treatment Plant. He loved bass fishing, eating, hunting, golf and music. He was a member of the Simerly Creek Believers Fellowship Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Maude Munsey and four brothers: Carl, Dallas, Paul and Clyde Hartley.

    Survivors include his wife and soul mate of 43 years: Charlene Holtsclaw Hartley. Three Children: Anita Allen, Jan Hartley Ball & husband David, April Turner & husband Benji and “Bonus Son” Joe Holtsclaw and wife Alaina. Four Grandchildren: Zack Allen, Dakota Allen, Kayla Hartley and Brittany Hartley. 6 Great Grandchildren. One brother Luther Hartley & wife Kathy and three sisters Iva Lee Copas, Ruby & Helen. He had a special place in his heart for Cheyanne Richardson, Paisley Holtsclaw and his dog Rowdy.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Holtsclaw and Rev. Steve Holtsclaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Holtsclaw family cemetery. Music will be provided by Kevin & Calvin Lester, Jimmy Holtsclaw, Sean Smith and Pat Teague, pianist. Active Pallbearers will be: Joe Holtsclaw, Terry Thomason, Kevin Lester, Benji Turner, Zack Allen and Dakota Allen. Honorary Pallbearers will be family, friends and his church family. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Carter County Sheriff Department and Benny Colbaugh.
