Odell Jessie Greer, 92, of Damascus, Va., the Green Cove Community, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013, at his residence Mr. Greer was born February 19, 1921, in Washington County to the late Junie Gentry and Andrew Jackson Greer. Surviving are his wife, Opal Mae Greer of the home; two daughters and spouses, Ann and Tracy Dolinger of Troutdale, Va., and Carolyn and Dean Gentry of Laurel Bloomery, Tenn.; four sons and spouses, Bill and Jean Greer of Damascus, Ogene and Tracy Greer of Laurel Bloomery, Tenn., Larry Greer and Gary Greer of Damascux, Va.: ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The body is at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Green Cove Baptist Church, Damascus, Va. Interment will be at Green Cove Cemetery 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013. The Rev. Jerry Fritz and the Rev. Leonard Tenney will officiate.

Carolyn Jane Gentry, age 67, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born on March 5, 1951 to Opal Greer and the late Odell Greer. In addition to her father, Carolyn was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Dolinger.

Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 47 years, Dean Gentry; sons: Dean Gentry and wife Bonnie, Justin Gentry and wife Malori; brothers: Bill Greer, Ogene Greer, Gary Greer and Larry Greer; grandchildren, Austin Gentry and Parker Gentry; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Greencove Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Poe and Pastor Harlen Greer officiating. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Stateline Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Trace Dolinger and Tracy Dolinger.
