    Notes:

    Phillip Paul Gentry, age 67, of Mountain City passed away on Sunday May 13, 2018 in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on December 23, 1950 to the late Mark P. Gentry and Lena B. Shores Gentry.

    Phillip was a 1968 graduate of JCHS. Following high school, Phillip joined the United States Army and served during Vietnam. He retired from C.M. of Damascus, Virginia following 42 years of service. Phillip was a member of the Laurel Bloomery Volunteer Fire Department for several years and was a proud farmer, which he enjoyed very much.

    Phillip was a member of Highlands Fellowship of Abingdon, VA, where he volunteered and ministered in their food pantry.

    Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Betty Fenner Gentry; step children: Barbara Robinette and husband Jon, Johnna Robbins and husband Tom, Michael Cook and wife Sandy and Matthew Cook and wife April; eleven step grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren; aunt, Hassie Mitchell; special friend, Paul Morrison and several cousins.

    The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Mr. Daniel Thomas officiating. Special music will be provided by Mr. Brett Smith. Military honors will follow and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip's step grandchildren.
