    Richard A. "Rick" Guinn, 65, of Roan Mountain, was born May 11, 1953 at the home of his parents, on Bud Miller Road, Roan Mountain. On Thursday, October 4, 2018, Rick received divine healing from our Lord, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
    Rick was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy Shell Guinn; a daughter, Melissa McMahan; and a grandson, Jerry "Bubba" Potter. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Clifford Guinn, Harold Guinn and Norma Jean Montgomery.
    Rick earned a living and provided for his family as a master craftsman and expert carpenter for 51 years. He loved the mountains of upper East Tennessee. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and Cloudland football. He loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports and dance. He loved cookouts and picnics.
    Rick is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara Jones Guinn; two sons, Chad and wife Katrine of Cameron, N.C., and Derrick and wife Carissa of Roan Mountain; two daughters, Sue Ann Guinn Foster of Roan Mountain and Johnnie Guinn Russ of Johnson City. Rick's pride and joy was his 13 wonderful and loving grandchildren, Dylen Markland, Macy Markland, Meagen Markland, Kenzie Foster, Lilly Guinn, Elijah Guinn, Mikah Guinn, Hadassah Guinn, Blake Dugger, Kaila McMahan, Danielle McMahan, Emma McMahan and Erica Guinn. Special friends are Lee Thomas, Steve Blair, Dewey Miller, Tom Dyer, Peter Dansi, former employees of T&B Construction, and the people of his home church, Morgan Branch Free Will Baptist.
    A service for Richard A. "Rick" Guinn will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, October 7, at Morgan Branch Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Campbell and Pastor David Montgomery officiating. Music will be provided by Eric Heaton and the Morgan Branch Singing Group. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. before the service. The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 8, in the Richardson Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Monday, will be Chad Guinn, Derrick Guinn, Dylen Markland, Jr. Markland, Elijah Guinn, Mikah Guinn and Blake Dugger.

    Pamela Joan Cooke, 65, Butler, formerly of Roan Mountain, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Franklin Woods Hospital with her family by her side. She was born April 24, 1956 in Banner Elk, N.C.
    Pam was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as a loving sister and aunt. Words cannot describe how much she loved her Lord.
    Pamela was a graduate of Cloudland High School. She was a great pastor’s wife and was willing to do whatever was needed to help her husband and the church. Those who knew her loved her, and God had blessed her with a beautiful voice to sing, especially the song “Under His Wings.” And she only used it for God’s Glory.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Shell Guinn; brothers, Harold Guinn, Rick Guinn and infant Clifford; and a sister, Norma Montgomery.
    Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 47 years, Danny Cooke; two daughters, Melanie (Todd) Guy and Elizabeth (Bobby) Guinn; and a son, of the home, Daniel “Jake” Cooke. She was the best Granny to her grandchildren, Taylor Guy, Matthew Guy, Kelsey Guy, Madison Guy, Benjamen Guy, a step-granddaughter, Caitlyn (Jake) Trivett, and her special great-grandson, Hudson Arnett; one sister, Betty Hoilman; a brother, Jim (Lola) Gwyn; sisters-in-law, Shirley Miller and Barbara Guinn; and her very special friends, Lucinda Green and Goldia Tolley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    A service to celebrate the life of Pamela Cooke will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with her husband, Pastor Danny Cooke, officiating. Music will be provided by the Montgomery Family. Interment will follow in the Abe Trivette Cemetery, Butler. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews, Matthew Guy, Benjamen Guy, David Montgomery, Brian Hoilman, Mark Guinn and Derrick Guinn.
