    Mrs. Proffitt was a retired employee of Mor-Flo Industries, Johnson City. She was a member of New Testament Baptist Church.
    Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Wayne O'Dell, Jonesborough; three sons and two-daugthers-in-law, Edwin and Linda Proffitt and Dwight and Regina Proffitt, all of Elizabethton, and James L. Proffitt and special friend Cathy Lewis, Johnson City; one sister, Ruby Oliver, Elizabethton; one brother and sister-in-law, Louie and Shelby Oliver, Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Oliver, Elizabethton; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Ensor Cemetery with Pastor Dale Greenwell officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Monday, will be Daniel Proffitt, Thomas Proffitt, Robbie Stanley, David Proffitt, Leonard Proffitt and Dawson O'Dell. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Nidiffer, Eugene Nidiffer and Benson Estep.

    Ruby Lois Oliver, 89, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Murray James and Loretta Cassie Grindstaff Oliver.
    Ruby was retired from American Air Filter. She loved to read her Bible and was a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. During her stay there she was known as the Mayor of Courtyard Apartments.
    Survivors include several nieces, nephews, several great-great-nieces and nephews and several great-great-great-nieces and nephews, whom she was a second mother to; a special great-great-niece and special helper, Nikki Hyatt; and also her special friends and neighbors at Courtyard Apartments.
    Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Interment followed the service. Pallbearers were selected from family and friends.

    CHURCH HILL — Geneva G. Phillips, 85, passed away Friday, March 15, 2019.
    Geneva was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Dewey and Etta Oliver Grindstaff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Phillips; a sister, Eudina Bordeaux; and a brother, Mac Grindstaff.
    Geneva was a member of First Baptist Church, Church Hill.
    Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Phillips; a son, Bo (Gena) Phillips; grandchildren, Rebecca and Emma Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be Tuesday, March 19, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Tri-Cities Funeral Home. The graveside service will immediately follow at Church Hill Memory Gardens with Pastor Gary Gerhardt officiating.

    William "Rick" Oliver, age 57, of the Stoney Creek Community, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

    Rick was born in Carter County to the late George B. and Anna Lee Taylor Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Keaton Jacobs.

    Rick was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was an avid outdoorsman. He had worked as a blue print specialist for Kennametal for more than 35 years and he was of the Baptist faith. Rick loved hunting, fishing, sitting on his front porch looking at his beloved mountains and UT football. His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved and devoted family.

    Those left to cherish Rick's memory include his wife of 30 years, Robin Kilby Oliver, of the home; his daughter, Rikki Oliver and her fiancé, Wayne Jacobs, of Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Delilah Oliver, also of Elizabethton; his sister, Georgia Ann Arnold and husband Gary, of Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Lisa Carver and husband David, of Piney Flats; and his special friends, Curtis Walters and Matt Neece, both of Stoney Creek, and Jeff Calloway, of Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 12, 2018 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton or at other times at the home of his sister.

    A graveside service to honor the life of William "Rick" Oliver will follow the visitation in the Ensor Cemetery in the Stoney Creek Community of Elizabethton with Mr. David Carver, officiating. Music will be provided by Matt Carver. Active pallbearers will be Matt Neece, Jeff Farmer, Matt Carver, Alex Carver, Gary Ashline, Jeff Calloway and Grant Dience. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike McCloud and Curtis Walters.
