    The body of Staff Sergeant NELSON OMAR HARMON of the Butler section, who was killed in action over the Baltic Sea on Oct. 10, 1943, has been returned for burial.
    Funeral has been set for 2 o'clock Saturday, June 17, at Buntontown Baptist Church, with Rev. John Hagaman of Zionville, N.C., Rev. Dayton Jones and Rev. J. Roby Stout officiating. Burial will be in Bunton Cemetery with military honors accorded by the local color guard and firing squad.
    The body was moved to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Avery HARMON, at Carderview on Thursday from Elizabethton. The body of the 26 year-old sergeant at the time of his death, was found in February of this year, about six and a half years after he had been reported missing in action over the Batlic sea. He had been stationed at Leige, Germany.
    Sgt. Harmon formerly resided near the old town of Butler, and was educated at Butler and Blackstone, Va. He entered the air corps Dec 9, 1941, and as a bombardier, had completed 18 missions. He was awarded the Medal of Honor, Air Medal, Purple Heart, and Oak Leaf Cluster. Harmon was a member of the Episcopal Church at Rochchester, N.Y.
    Besides his parents, survivors include four brothers, Allen of Valley Forge; Norman of the army, Bobby Ray and Billy Joe of Carderview; three sisters, Mrs. Kermit CABLE, Eunice and Betty HARMON, all of Carderview; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Sam HARMON of Shell Creek; and the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. U. S. BUNTON of Hampton.

    Respectfully ..... Nelson did "not" receive the Medal of Honor .... He was not found on any listing for that medal during the war.

    Funeral services for MRS. DONNIS MACEL DUGGER, 26, Elizabethton, who died Sunday at 6:15 p.m. in a Elizabethton hospital following an illness of a monty, was held at the Meadowview Baptist Church Wednesday at 2 p.m. Officiating ministers were Rev. Roby Stout, Rev. Daton Jones and Rev. Russell Potter.
    Survivors are her husband, Willard DUGGER, two sons, Bobbie Ray and Willard Allen Dugger; her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Avery HARMON, Butler; four brothers, Allen HARMON, Elizabethton, Norman, Bobbie and Billy HARMON, all of Butler.
    Mrs. Dugger was a member of the Meadowview Baptist Church.

    Donnis married William Willard Dugger about 1938.     HAMPTON - Ray Anthony Harmon, 62, Hampton passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of Cordia Ellen Hazelwood Harmon Berry and the late Bobby Ray Harmon & the late Billy Jack Berry. Ray was a graduate of Hampton High School. He was a former Butcher at Browns Supermarket, former owner of Cole’s Tackle Box and a Machine Operator at Colorworks. Ray was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and marksmanship. He also loved spending time with friends on Dennis Cove Mountain. He was a member of Union Baptist Church. In addition to his Father & Stepfather, he was preceded in death by a sister: Bobbi Harmon.
    Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of 36 years: Rebecca Shingleton Harmon. Two Children: Cole Harmon and Caley Harmon. His Brother: Mark Berry & wife Terri, several nieces and nephews, two great nephews and his special “Hey Babe” Taylor.
    Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Donald Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Bunton Cemetery, Buntontown Road, Butler. Active Pallbearers will be: Billy Berry, Adam Berry, Joshua Pierce, Jamie Erickson, Gator Bowling, Brandon Stout, Nick Montgomery and Shane Simerly. Honorary Pallbearers will be: John Simerly, Ike Fortner, Fred Simerly, Ron Whitehead, Carl Lee Hazelwood, Bob Phillips and the rest of his Mountain and Bass Club Friends.
