    NEELEY, Lucille (Nan) Griffin, 94, a resident of Montgomery, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Highland Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. James M. Castleberry officiating. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.

    Mrs. Neeley is survived by 2 daughters, Margie Sue (Sam) Bender of Gadsden, AL and Becky (Marshall) Howell of Montgomery; 4 grandsons, Pete Bender, Jed, Josh and Jeff Howell and one granddaughter, Julie Bender; brother, William (Blackie) Griffin and one sister, Mary Pearl Stevens.

    Ms. Neeley was preceded in death by her husband Earnest (Peanut) Neeley; 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

    Ms Neeley was a faithful member of Highland Avenue Baptist Church for over 70 years. She loved God through her joyful and unselfish love to everyone. Nan lived a simple and honest life, her ministry of joyfully cooking for hundreds of hungry youth and adults truly honored God. Nan's legacy of love and service truly blessed us all and may her family and friends follow her examples of dedication.

    Lucille married Earnest Aubrey Neeley about 1921. Earnest (son of James Albert Neeley and Dixie Luanna DeLoach) was born on 4 Mar 1910 in Chilton County, , , Alabama; died on 30 Sep 1992 in Montgomery County, , , Alabama; was buried in Alabama Heritage Cemetery, , Montgomery County, Alabama.
