    Lucille Powell, 87, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Hermitage Health Care Center. Lucille was born in Carter County to the late Oscar and Fannie Presnell Calhoun. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Elisha Powell; two sons, Timothy Powell and Robert Powell; two daughters, Barbara Fraley and Iva Jean Hyder; one granddaughter, Wendy Garland; one sister, Joyce Pierce; two brothers, H.L. Calhoun and Doris Calhoun; and a son-in-law, James Hicks.
    Lucille was a homemaker and had formerly worked at Winn-Dixie as a sales clerk. She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved everyone she met, she never knew a stranger. Lucille was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting and cooking Sunday dinner for her family.
    Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Cleo Hicks and her partner, Michael Elliott, Linda Garland and husband Michael, Phyllis Crain and husband Glenn and Brenda Rasmussen, all of Elizabethton; her sons, Larry Powell and wife Patricia, Randy Powell and wife Loretta and Elisha Powell Jr. "Pooner" and wife Neci, all of Elizabethton; a son-in-law, Bill Fraley, of Elizabethton; one sister, Lillian Watts, of Mishawaka, Ind.; one brother, Roger Calhoun, also of Mishawaka, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
    A service to celebrate the life of Lucille Powell will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, May 11, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dick Brand, soloist, and Rev. Ronnie Campbell. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or at the residence of her daughter, Cleo Hicks, at other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
