    ELIZABETHTON - M E “Milt” Fair, age 88, of Elizabethton, died Tuesday, January 4, 2022 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. He was born May 21, 1933 in Carter County and was the son of the late Dave and Annie Hampton Fair. He was a member of the Centerview Church of Christ. M E was a well-known retired car dealer as the owner of Fair’s Motors on West Elk Avenue. His love for horses was shown as he owned many horses and rode many horse trails in East Tennessee.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Dennis Fair, four sisters, Edith Pierce, Eulee Carden, Margaret Greene and Helen James, seven brothers, Conley Fair, Jarvis Fair, Clarence Fair, Luther Fair, John Fair, Winifred Fair and L D Fair.
    He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
    A Celebration of Life service for M E “Milt” Fair will be conducted at 2:00 P M Saturday, January 8, 2022 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home-Elizabethton with Mr. Tony Hoss, Minister officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jerry Pierce, soloist.
    The committal service in the Garden of Gethsemane at Happy Valley Memorial Park will follow the service.

    Earl Hampton, 90, of Johnson City, Tenn., passed away Monday, November 29, 2021, at Johnson City Medical Center. Earl was born in Carter County to the late Leonard Benjamin Hampton and Mary Nave Hampton. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Glenda Williams Hampton; three sisters, Ethel Hampton, Ella Mae Miller and Orlia Harrison; five brothers, Samuel Hampton, Paul Hampton, Ray Hampton, Roy Hampton and Johnny Hampton; and a special cousin, Ruth Street.
    Earl graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1949. He joined the United States Army and was a First Sergeant having served in the Korean Conflict. He later served in the United States Army Reserves. Earl was the owner and operator of Hampton Homes based in Johnson City, Tenn., and built hundreds of houses in East Tennessee. He served as Board of Education member of Tennessee Bible College in Cookeville, Tenn., for 38 years. Earl read the Bible every day; he had actually read the Bible through 14 times.
    Survivors include a daughter, Robbin Hampton Aesque and husband Charles of Gray, Tenn.; a son, Tony Hampton and wife Martha of Sulphur Springs, Tenn.; a brother, Jerry Hampton of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Hampton of Erwin, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Brock Aesque and Hank Hampton; one great-grandchild, Liam Jude Aesque; and a special nephew, Chuck Hampton of Charlestown, W.Va.
    A private service for members of the Hampton family will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 4, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

    UNICOI - John C. "Johnny" Hampton, age 84, of Unicoi, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.

    Johnny was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Leonard and Mary Nave Hampton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray Hampton, Roy Hampton, Samuel Hampton and Paul Hampton; and three sisters, Ethel Hampton, Orlia Harrison and Ella Mae Miller.

    Johnny was the former owner and operator of John's Barber Shop in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a United States Army veteran, having served his country proudly in the Korean Conflict. Johnny was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Unicoi Masonic Lodge #681 F&AM and he was a member of Grace Methodist Church of Erwin. He loved to garden, golf, loved his church and being with his children and his church family.

    Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife, Barbara Hampton, of the home; two sons, Terry L. Hampton and wife Kristin, of Gray, Tennessee and Chuck Hampton and wife Joyce, of Ranson, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Jason Hampton, of Gray, Jennifer Hampton, of Gray, Lindsey Sederstrom, of Stephen City, VA and Chelsea Hampton, of Hagerstown, Maryland; three great grandchildren, Ethan Abramot, Tristan Abramot and Oliver Sederstrom; two brothers, Earl Hampton, of Johnson City and Jerry Hampton and wife Sandy, of Knoxville, Tennessee. Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, also survive.

    A service to honor the life of John C. "Johnny" Hampton will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 28, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Garland James and Mr. Tony Hoss, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday.

    The graveside and inurnment will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Mountain Home National Cemetery (In the new section of the VA cemetery). Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Garland James, Herschel and Barbara Scalf, Anthony and Karen Lyons, Rob and Kathy Perry, Steve and Carol McGill and Brenda and Bill Brown.

    ELIZABETHTON - David Henry "D.H." Hampton, Sr., 83, Elizabethton passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 in the Hermitage Health Center after a brief illness.

    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Edd & Annie Simerly Hampton. D.H. attended Hampton High School and graduated from East Tennessee State College with a degree in Mathematic's. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean & Vietnam Era. He was a retired Naval Flight Officer and Land Surveyor and Real Estate Developer. He was a member of the Elizabethton Elks Lodge. D.H. attended the Unity Church of the Tri Cities. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Joan Ann Wark Hampton, a son Daniel Hampton, and brothers: Dewey A. Hampton and Harold G. Hampton and a sister: Mary Hampton Brewer.

    Wimpy was born in Elizabethton to the late James and Daisy Mae Headrick Hampton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy Shortt Hampton; two brothers, Preston Hampton and Lester Hampton; one sister, Mozella Orr.

    Wimpy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a friend to many. He was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church where he served as an Elder. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Navy who proudly served his country in World War Two. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Hampton, #750. He enjoyed spending time in his garden and playing golf. He will be missed by many.

    Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Vickie Mottern and her husband Joe, of Elizabethton; two sons, William C.     ELIZABETHTON - Ruth (Hampton) Street, age 91, of Elizabethton, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Signature Health Center and Rehab from Colitis. Ruth was a lifelong resident of Carter County and was the daughter of the late Dewey G. Hampton and Beulah Kinley Hampton. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Eckert Street on February 21, 2010.
    Ruth was a devout Christian lady and was the oldest member of Centerview Church of Christ.
    Ruth is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Cannon and husband Butch, Kathern Green and husband Stanley all of Elizabethton; her son, Danny Street and wife Teresa also of Elizabethton; her brother, Bill Hampton and wife Sharron of Elizabethton; Earl Hampton, who was like a brother to her; also a family sister, Judy Green, who Ruth thought of as a daughter; her grandchildren, Terry Cannon and fiancé Dawn Lowe, Brad and April Green, Lance and Ashleigh Green, Jennifer and Chris Hanson, Ashley and Andrew Bowman; her great grandchildren, Jace Bowman, Blakely Bowman, Ava Grace Hanson, Eleanor Green & Eisleigh Green. Several nieces and nephews, church family and her special friends, Lou Cooter, Chris Cantey and June Crowe also survive.

    Bill E. Hampton, 87, of Elizabethton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 26, 2023, after a lingering illness. He was the son of the late Dewey G and Beulah Kinley Hampton. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Dorothy Dykes Buckles; a sister, Ruth Street; by his very special friends of 60 plus years, A.J. and Peggy Harvey Street; and by Janane Finney, who was a special friend to Bill and Sharron. Bill was a homebuilder for over 50 years. He loved his chosen profession. He was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church and attended regularly until his health declined. His hobbies included water sports, he was an excellent water skier; he and Sharron always kept a pleasure boat their entire married life. He and his lake buddies built the first ski jump on Watauga Lake and Bill was the first to cross the ski jump successfully. He also loved drag racing and after their retirement, they enjoyed traveling including a trip to the Bahamas. Bill and Sharron were also members of the Johnson City Citizens Band Club, where Bill was voted member of the year and was instrumental in acquiring the land on which the building was constructed and the club was a very family oriented club house. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, the former Sharron Lynn Buckles Hampton, whom he met at the Johnson City Roller Skating Rink, when she was still in high school and was the love of his life. Also, his first cousin, whom he thought of as a sister and was always there for Bill and Sharron whenever she was needed, Vella Chambers Tester; and Kathy Clawson, who was always so dear to them and ready to help in any way she could. Two nieces, Carolyn Street Cannon and her husband James “Butch” Cannon and Kathern Greene and her husband Stanley Greene; and one nephew, Danny Street and his wife Teresa. A special thanks to Dr. Sarah Hammonds for her outstanding care shown to both Bill and Sharron, Amedysis Home Health Care, especially Megan, and Signature Health Care Center, especially Alex Keyes, members of Valley Forge Christian Church, neighbors and friends whom showed so much love, prayers and compassion to Bill during his illness and Sharron during this difficult time.     JOHNSON CITY - Marcella Jane Hampton Perry, 91, Johnson City, died Monday, February 7, 2022, in the Assisted Living facility of the Abundant Christian Living Community (ACLC) campus.
    Jane was a native of Elizabethton, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Thomas Allen and Bessie Junita Chambers Hampton. After moving from Elizabethton, Jane lived in Oak Ridge and Bristol, Tennessee before moving to Johnson City in 1964. She resided at 604 Hillrise Boulevard until her transition to ACLC in late 2021.
    Jane was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and spent much of her life helping to mold the lives of young people. She attended elementary school in Carter County, graduated from Elizabethton High School, and attended Milligan College and East Tennessee State University. She prepared herself for a lifelong teaching career by earning a B.S. and M.A. degree in elementary education from East Tennessee State University.
    Jane taught school in Carter County, Oak Ridge, Sullivan County, and Bristol, Tennessee before her retirement from full time teaching. After retirement she continued to serve her community and the young people of Johnson City by giving her time to substitute teach and aide teachers in the Johnson City School System. Her teaching was not confined to the classroom. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other young people whom she came in contact with continually received her love, generosity and expert guidance in educational and moral issues.
    Jane was a lifelong member of the Christian Church. Since 1964 she was a member of the First Christian Church in Johnson City where she served many years as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She was a member of the Johnson City Monday Club and a life time member of the Parent Teacher Association.
    In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Allen Hampton, and a brother-in-law, James Steven Luethke.
    Survivors include her husband of nearly 70 years, Cameron Earl Perry; brother, Wayne Hampton and wife Peggy; sister, Carol Luethke; son, Thomas Cameron Perry and wife Ann; daughter, Marcy Jann Conley and husband Creighton; grandchildren, Caitlin Anne Conley Reynolds and husband Ryan, Evan Thomas Perry and wife Anna, Courtney Alyse Conley Tucker and husband Daniel, and Chloe Cameron Perry Campbell and husband Ben; great-grandchildren, Hudson Cameron Perry, Raylen Jane Perry, and Piper Marie Tucker; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services for Marcella Jane Hampton Perry will be conducted on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. in the First Christian Church of Johnson City with Mr. Gene Wiggington, minister officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday after 5:00 P.M. until the hour of service at 7:00 P.M.
    A committal service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. in the Happy Valley Memorial Park with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

    Linda Lou Honeycutt Greene, 80, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Sycamore Springs Assisted Living Community in Elizabethton. Linda was born May 7, 1941 in Elizabethton to the late Dave and Ruby Fulton Honeycutt. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her two sisters, Louise Puckett and Mary Sue Harmon Keers.
    Linda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family and her Lord. She was a faithful member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and enjoyed serving the Lord and fellowship with her church family. Linda also enjoyed cooking, sewing and most of all spending time with her family. Her absence will be felt within the hearts and minds of everyone that knew her.

    JOHNSON CITY - Yvonne Matson, 85, of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away on September 14, 2022. Yvonne was born in Elizabethton, TN to Maggie Angel and Jarvis Fair. She graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1955 and attended ETSU. Yvonne worked at McKee Eye Hospital in Johnson City before marrying James Matson of Johnson City in 1964. Following their wedding, they moved to Middle River, MD and then to Parkton, MD in 1968, where they lived for over 40 years. In 2012 they returned to Johnson City.

    Yvonne was a stay-at-home mother of two, actively involved in their elementary school activities, including being President of the Recreation Council. She began working for the USPS in the 80’s, proudly serving the communities of North Baltimore County before retiring in 2003.

    Yvonne was fortunate to have made many lifelong friends. Neighbors were friends: Friends were family. Her dementia hindered her ability to remain in contact with these friends, but your names were spoken often and made her smile.

    Yvonne loved springtime and watching her tulips bloom under the lilac tree. She enjoyed sending greeting cards, never missing a birthday. Yvonne loved to bake for others and made the best pie crust. Ohhh the batches of blonde brownies- too many to count!

    Yvonne is survived by her son, Lyle Matson; daughter, Laurie Matson; brothers, Keith and Craig Fair; sister, Maryann Fair; dear nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Matson; brother, Malcolm Fair; her parents and many aunts and uncles.

    The family would like to express their appreciation to Abundant Christian Living Community for providing her with a safe and caring environment to meet her varying levels of need over the past 10 years. We are also grateful for the guidance and care provided by Amedisys during her final stages of life.

    Ronda was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Rainsville, Alabama.

    He was a retired over the road driver with Roadway-YRC Freight Lines with a total of 29 years of service.

    While driving for Roadway he received the Presidential Safety Award, the Mile Span Accident Free Award. He was also a Two Million Mile Achiever for Roadway.

    Ronda was a 1955 graduate of Hampton High School and a veteran of the U S Navy. He loved to fish, and travel with his wife Margaret, especially after his retirement.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ellen Fair.

    Those left to cherish his memory include his wife; Margaret A. Dean Fair of the home, one daughter, Theresa (Robert) Akins of Ringgold, GA, two sons, Marcus Fair of Morristown, TN, and Benjamin Fair of Hampton, VA, a stepson, Jeff Dean, two step-daughters, Karen Selvage and Wanda Sue King, one brother, Richard (Dick) Fair and one sister, Rebecca (Beckie) Barr both of Elizabethton, two grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren.

He was born in Carter County on May 14, 1939 and was a son of Luther and Thelma Crete Stout Fair. Dick was a member of the Centerview Church of Christ and was a retired over the road truck driver for Roadway Express with 28 years of service. He was a 1957 graduate of Elizabethton High School. Prior to driving for Roadway Express, he was a dock supervisor for Mason and Dixon Freight Lines and was also a supervisor for the Polyester Plant of North American Rayon. He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge, #238 F and A M, a member of Knoxville Consistory of Scottish Rite and the Jericho Shrine Temple. He was a member of the Elizabethton Shrine Band and the Jesters of Jericho Temple. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Rhonda Fair.
    He is survived by his son Rick Fair of Phoenix, Arizona, his sister, Rebecca Lou Fair Barr of Elizabethton, two grandchildren, Travis Fair and Curtis Fair, four great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Travis Jr., Julian and Iryiana, one niece and three nephews, his best friends Victor and Judy Deloach, a special friend Kathy McGee and numerous cousins.
    A service to honor the life of Richard “Dick” Fair will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 12, 2021, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Mr. Tony Hoss, Minister officiating.
