Beverly Arliss Lipford . . .
Beverly Arliss Lipford, age 89 of Shouns (Forge Creek) died at his home Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Johnson County, the son of the late Lewis and Malinda Powell Lipford, and a retired farmer.
Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Alice Lipford, Shouns; four sons, Claude Lipford, War, W.Va., Fred Lipford Portsmouth, Va., Dennis Lipford and Arliss Lipford, both of La Belle, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Powers, Burke, a.[sic], Mrs. Bettie Woodard and Dorothy Lipford, both of Shouns; a sister, Mrs. Frank Wespa, Mendota, Va., one half-brother, Vada Lipford, Shouns; two half-sisters, Mrs. Nelia Owens and Mrs. Stella Whittaker, both Mountain City; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted from the Nelson Chapel Baptist Church Thursday at 3 p.m. with Rev. Ernest Carrier and the Rev. Keene Roark officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery. Pallbearers were: Mens Bible Class of Nelson Chapel; and flower bearers were ladies of the church and neighbors.

Betty Ruth Lipford Woodard Teague passed away at her home on Monday, January 22, 2018. She was born November 29, 1930 in Johnson County, TN. Betty was the daughter of Beverly Lipford and Viria Arnold Lipford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: two sisters, Dorothy Riddle and Hazel Powers; five brothers, Claude Lipford, Fred Lipford, Dennis Lipford, Dana Lipford and Arliss Lipford. She loved gardening and flowers.

Betty is survived by her children: Gene Woodard and wife Carol, Hampton, TN, Dana Woodard, Mountain City, TN, Brenda Preece, Creston, NC, Linda Morris, Mountain City, TN, Cathy Woodard, Fort Myers, FL, and Jeffery Woodard and wife Shirley, Mountain City, TN. Eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services for Betty will be conducted on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 8:00 pm in the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of the Hux & Lipford Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm prior to the funeral service. Services will be conducted by Bishop Trent Spalding.

Interment will be on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Price & Lipford Family Cemetery.

Shelby Jean Johnson, age 82, of Joines Rd., Creston, NC went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Watauga Medical Center. Shelby was born December 31, 1939 to the late Dennis Lipford and Jocie Bryant. In addition to her parents, Shelby was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Conley Odell Johnson and daughter, Patricia Johnson.

Shelby was the most loving and kind hearted lady you had ever met. Her main focus in life had always been her kids, family, and Jesus. She was also the type that had never met a stranger and loved working in her garden and flowers. She was an animal lover and especially liked watching hummingbirds. She was a member of Big Laurel Baptist Church in Creston, NC.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Shannon Johnson of Mountain City, TN; sons, Daniel Johnson of Mountain City, TN, James Johnson and wife Julie of Lenoir, NC, and Kenneth Johnson and wife Alice of Mountain City, TN; brothers, John Bryant and wife Phyllis of Knoxville, Billy Bryant and wife Carrie of Sevierville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Miller and husband Alford of Mountain City, TN, grandchildren, Alex Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Harold Conley Johnson, Julie Ann Barrier, Jason Johnson, Beth Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Lydia Johnson, Noah Greer, Alyssa Stout, great-grandchildren, Isabella Johnson, Breana Barrier, Liam Barrier, Dravon Barrier, Hayden and Jayden Johnson, Fiona Johnson, Sawyer Johnson, Brenden Terrell and Zakary Stowe, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The graveside service and burial were held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at the Lillie B. Reece Cemetery (Sam Johnson Ln., Mountain City, TN.) with Pastor Michael Trivette officiating. Pallbearers were Jason Johnson, Noah Greer, Harold Conley Johnson, Josh Matheson, Dalton Trivette and Alex Johnson.

Shelby married Conley Odell Johnson about 1959. Conley (son of James W.I. Johnson and Lillie Belle Reece) was born on 25 Jun 1938 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 16 Dec 2020 in Ashe County, , , North Carolina; was buried in Lillie B.
