    JOHNSON CITY - Larry Patrick "Pat" McQueen, 75, Johnson City, went to his eternal home with Jesus on Saturday morning, April 21, 2018, in the VA Community Living Center.

    Pat was a 1961 graduate of Boones Creek High School. After attending ETSU, he joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country. After serving in the Navy, he returned to Johnson City and went to work at Eastman Chemical Company, where he was employed for 31 years until he retired in 1997.

    Pat met the love of his life, Helen, and was married in June of 1968. Pat and Helen have resided in Boones Creek for the past 47 years.

    Pat was a true servant to his family, friends, neighbors and church. Above all else, he loved Jesus and shared the gospel with many others. He was a member of Boone Trail Baptist Church for the past 44 years, where he served in various roles.

    In addition to his father, James Monroe McQueen, Pat was preceded in death by: one brother, Kenneth McQueen; and step father, Ivan Hale.

    Survivors include: his wife of almost 50 years, Helen Silver McQueen; son, Scott McQueen and his wife Ashley; daughter, Ashley McQueen Lamson and her husband Doug; his mother, Edith Saylor Hale; brother Ronnie "Porky" McQueen; sister, Sherry McQueen Wells; two grandchildren, Corey Lamson and his wife Emily, and Whitney Lamson; three great grandchildren, Aiden Riner, Zoey Riner, and Palmer Lamson; and many nieces and nephews.

    The family of Pat McQueen will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday, April 25th at Boone Trial Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Pastors Dwight Jenkins and Wayne Bledsoe officiating. The committal service will be conducted at 10:45 AM on Thursday, April 26th at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Pallbearers include: Simms Umberger, Travis Sanders, Jaymie Jenkins, Terry Adcock, Craig Martin and Chris Muse.

    The McQueen family wants to thank the Mountain Home VA medical team and staff, particularly Dr. Hamati and Dr. Schnell. Mrs. McQueen especially wants to thank the VA Community Living Center staff. During his time there, the compassion and care he and the family received went above and beyond.
