    Mr. George F. Dugger, Jr., 82, of Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the Hermitage Health Center. He was the son of the late George F. Dugger, Sr., and Rena Hyder Dugger and was born in Carter County.

    Mr. Dugger was a 1946 graduate of Elizabethton High School and a 1950 graduate of Milligan College where he played football for all four years. Following college he served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. Following his service he returned to his education at the University of Tennessee where he went to law school. He began his career as an attorney in Elizabethton in 1955 and in 1962 established the law practice of Dugger and Cole. He served as the Carter County attorney from 1958-1962 and again from 1982-2006. He was also a member of the Tennessee Bar Association with fifty years of service and was a Senior Counselor. Mr. Dugger was a member of the American Legion Post #49 for fifty years. He was a member of the Elizabethton Golf Course and he played golf year round. He was an avid fan of UT sports and the Atlanta Braves baseball team. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton.

    He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Jane Hensley Dugger of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn Dugger-Edwards and her husband, Keith, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Vickie Dugger, Johnson City; two grandchildren, Brett Baurle and his wife, Leslie, Elizabethton; Dr. Eric Baurle and his wife, Sarah, Brentwood, TN; four great-grandchildren, Macy Baurle, Elizabethton; Everett Baurle, Brentwood; Andrew Willis and Harrison Willis, both of Elizabethton; three nephews, the Honorable John F. Dugger, Jr. and his wife, Jean Ann, Morristown; Michael Fouts and Tommy Fouts, both of Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Peggy Barkley Dugger, Morristown, and a niece, Jerrie Sue Bowers and her husband, Jim Schweitzer, Jonesborough.

    The funeral service for Mr. Dugger will be conducted on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 7:00 PM in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Lauri Jo Cranford officiating. Music will be under the direction of David and Becky Hale. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 - 7:00 PM and at the residence at other times.

    The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be J.C. Campbell, Brett Baurle, Jeff Anderson, Don McKeehan, Mike Fouts, Tommy Fouts, Mike Lingerfelt and Dr. Eric Baurle. Honorary pallbearers will be Truman Clark, Bill Broome, Wayne Holtsclaw, Charlie Bayless, Ralph Cole, Judges of the 1ST Judicial District, members and employees of the Carter County Bar Association, all past and present officials of Carter County, Carmon Dugger, Howard Matherly, Richard Edens, Gerald Poats, and the office staff of Dugger and Cole: Gail Brummitt, Dawn Sheffield, June Collins and Kristi Norris Johnson.

    George married Doris Jane Hensley on 22 Jun 1956 in Carter County, , , Tennessee.     ELIZABETHTON - Kathryn Jane Dugger-Edwards, age 58, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center, following a brief illness.

    Kathryn was born in Johnson City, Tennessee to Jane Hensley Dugger, of Elizabethton and the late George Dugger, Jr. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her previous husband, John Mack; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George F. Dugger Sr.; and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Opie Hensley; and two cousins, Mike Fouts and Brenda Dugger.

    Kathy was a loving daughter and was dedicated to her family and to her profession. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a 1978 graduate of Elizabethton High School, where she was a member of the first women's basketball team. Kathy lived in Elizabethton with her husband Keith. During her spare time, Kathy enjoyed working in her garden, water aerobics, and riding her bicycle on the Tweetise Trail.

    Kathy graduated from ETSU in 1982 and from Memphis University in 1986. She was admitted to the Tennessee Bar Association in 1988 and to the United States District Court for Eastern District of Tennessee in 1990.

    After working as a secretary at Dugger and Cole Attorneys at Law, Kathy decided that she could do just as a good a job herself and enrolled in law school at Memphis University. While at Memphis, Kathy was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award for contracts and nominated for Who's Who among American Law Students.

    Kathy came back to Dugger and Cole in 1988 following her brother, father and grandfather. Her practice areas included real estate, domestic relations – divorce, custody, child support, contract disputes, corporations, estate planning including wills and probate. Kathy also handled appeals in the Tennessee Supreme Court and Tennessee Court of Appeals.

    Kathy was a past president of the Elizabethton Kiwanis Club and was one of the first women to join the Club. She was awarded the John Hixon Fellowship Award for outstanding service. She was a member of D.A.R. and was a board member of the Elizabethton Housing Authority.

    Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Keith Edwards, of the home; her mother, Jane Dugger, of Elizabethton; one brother, Mark Dugger and wife Vickie, of Elizabethton; one uncle, Jerry Hensley and wife Betty, of Johnson City; her cousins, Jerrie Sue Bowers and husband Jim Schweitzer, of Jonesborough, Tommy Fouts, of Elizabethton, the Honorable John F. Dugger, Jr. and wife Jean Ann, of Morristown, and Rebecca Griffin and husband Jim, of Charlotte, NC; a god child, Joyce Shanks, of Banner Elk, NC; and her nephews, Brett Baurle and wife Mary and their daughters, Zoe and Macy, all of Elizabethton and Dr. Eric Baurle and wife Sarah and their two children, Everett and Charlotte, all of Brentwood, TN. Numerous special friends also survive.

    A service to honor and celebrate the life of Kathryn Jane Dugger-Edwards will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton with Reverend Raymond Amos, Sr., officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the church, prior to the service on Sunday.

    The graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Fouts, Brett Baurle, Jeff Miller, Adam Shanks, Brady Williams and Bill Hampton. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Fields, Mike Lingerfelt, Bo Campbell, Eddie Hoover, Ed Dance and Jimmy Ensor.
