Naomi Elizabeth Roark, age 74, Shouns (Forge Creek Community) died in Cannon Memorial Hospital, Banner Elk, N.C., Monday at 11:30 p.m. (June 22) after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Ashe County, N.C., but had made her home in Johnson County for many years. She was the daughter of the late Washington and Abbie Price Roark; and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons, Bert Roark, Heptner, Ore. Ray Roark, Parkdale, Ore., Edward Roark, Shouns, Wayne Roark of Mountain City; two daughters, Mrs. Mae Osborne, and Mrs. Faye Brown, both of Parkdale, Ore; two sisters; Mrs. Rosa Osborne, Creston, N.C., and Mrs. Loretta Greer, Shady Valley; one brother, Claude Roark, Creston, N.C.; 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday (June 28) at 2:00 p.m. from the Walnut Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Carrier officiating. Burial was in the Arnold cemetery.
Pallbearers were Fayette Arnold, Millard Wilson, Robert Fink, Dagle Lipford Perry Lipford, Buford Lipford.

Bert French Roark died Feb 14 at his home. He lived with his son Bert and daughter-in-law Barbara Roark at Princeton(OR). Viewing will be Friday morning at LaFollette's Chapel in Burns with graveside service at 2pm at Crane Cemetery.
Born March 10,1910, in Mountain City,TN, to Samuel and Naomi Roark, he worked on the family farm until he came to Central Oregon in the 1930's to work herding sheep. He trapped for the government in Harney county and Central Oregon in the 1930's and 1940's. He started logging in the 1950's and continued in this occupation until he retired.
Trapping for fur, hunting and fishing were special interests all his life.
He is survived by his wife Leah of Pendleton; sons Sam of Parkdale, Lester Roark of Pendleton, John Roark of Pendleton, Russell Roark of Baker City, Bert Roark of Princeton, Clayton Roark and Jason Roark of Anchorage, Alaska; daughters Oma Ricker of Haines and Luella Roark; brothers Ed Roark and Wayne Roark of Mountain City,TN, Ray Roark of Parkdale; sisters Fay Die of Yuma,AZ and Mae Osborne of Parkdale.
He is survived by 21 grandchildren including Lance,Aaron, Isabella, Victoria,Roman and Casandra Roark of Princeton, Donny Roark of Portland, Steven Roark of Seattle,WA, Angela Roark of Hood River and Amy Roark of China, Elizabeth Loenning of La Grande, Cecily Longhorn of Stanfield, and Paul Martin Jr and Amos Martin of Beaverton, Justin Roark of Yachats, Crystal Roark of Spokane, Shawneen Sword of Baker City, Roark Broadie of Haines, Jessica and Samantha Roark of Tacoma,WA,Alexander Roark of Johnson City,TN; six great grand children and 26 nieces and nephews.

Edith Price, age 80, of Mountain City, TN passed away on Friday morning February 24th, 2023 at Frye Hospital in Hickory, NC. Edith was born in Ashe County on July 14, 1942 to Will Price and Ruth Roark Price. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant sister; brothers, Jack Price, Bill Price, Jr., and two infant brothers.

Edith absolutely adored holidays; the Christmas season was her very favorite. She collected numerous dolls and story books. Edith enjoyed the company of her cats, especially Toby and Bo. She liked to watch Days of Our Lives, old westerns, and cartoons, and she loved getting visitors at her home.

Those left to cherish her memories include her sisters, Katie Stewart (Jody) and Carolyn Porter; sister- in-law, Linda Price; special nieces, Michelle and Crystal, and several other nieces and nephews; dear friends who were like sisters, Alice Rhymer, Cora Walls, and Cathy Peltier; loving cousin, Brenda Jennings; special friend, Peggy; and her in-home caretakers.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The graveside service and burial will follow the visitation from Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Butch Jennings, Gene Church, Shawn Price, Johnny Norris, Ian Norris, and Brent Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be Jody Stewart, William Porter, Tony Norris, and Robbie Wagner.

Willard Coy Roark, age 72, of Mountain City, TN passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Watauga Medical Center. He was born August 9, 1947 to the late Hilman Roark and Ann Roark. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Price.

Mr. Roark was a wonderful person. He was an outstanding father and was a person that people enjoyed being with. Without exception, his family always came first. He loved to play Yahtzee and working puzzles. He was dearly loved by many and will be missed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Margaret Teague, daughters, Brenda Presnell and husband Dean, Barbie Davidson and husband Dexter, Michelle Maney and husband Jeff, a son, Tommy Lewis, a half-brother, Bruce Price, special cousins Beulah Stout and Wilma Price, several nieces and nephews, cousins, and many more special friends and neighbors.

James 'Jim' Osborne, age 86, of Creston, North Carolina, passed away at Ashe Memorial Hospital on May 18, 2019. Jim was born May 15, 1933, to the late Conley Osborne and Nancy Mahala Osborne. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife Lois Osborne; brothers, Teddy Osborne, Gene Osborne, and Tom Osborne & wife Myrtle; sisters, Goldie Stewart and husband Bud, Delcie Deyton and husband Edger, and Ina Mae Pierce.

Jim was a talented gardener and beekeeper. He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, and delivering meals.

Jim is survived by his children, Sandra Perry of Coatesville, PA, Sherry Taylor and husband Andy of Creston, NC, and Steve Osborne and wife Angie of VA; grandchildren, Angel Kirkner and Rob, Ashley Osborne and Jonathan, Tanner Rominger and Talia Rominger; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Madison, Bobby, and Leia Kirkner; brother, Bill Osborne; sister, Margaret Teague; brother-in-law, Willie Pierce; many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Graveside service for Jim will be held at 1pm on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the Osborne – Mahala Cemetery in Ashe County, NC with Rev. Jim Henson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6pm – 8pm on Friday, May 24, 2018, in the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Andy Taylor, Tanner Rominger, Rob Kirkner, Santana Arizoca, Jeremy Bunting, and Phillip Bunting. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Payne and Len Wilson.
