    Elizabeth W. Bowers, 79, East Cottage Avenue, Elizabethton, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Bowers was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late George and Laura Oliver Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Monroe Bowers, in 1979, a son, Ervin Denver Bowers, a great-granddaughter, Karrissa Setzer, and by several brothers and sisters.
    Mrs. Bowers was of the Baptist faith.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Andy and Emma Williams. Mrs. Perry was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker. S
    She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking for her family.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Butler Perry in 1965.
    Survivors are six daughters and sons-in-law, Gladys and Boyd Holloway, Hickory, NC, Brenda and Daniel Potter, Roan Mountain, Joyce and Kirby Potter, Roan Mountain, Diane and Charles Evans, Mary and Gary Fowler, Charlene and Michael Beal, all of Hickory, NC, four sons and one daughter-in-law, Lonnie Perry, Jerry and Debbie Perry, Carl Perry, all of Hickory, NC, Roy and Mary Perry, Elizabethton, twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two sisters, Ida Smith and Pauline Oliver, both of Elizabethton, and three brothers, Preston Williams, D. C. Williams, Ernest Williams, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    The funeral service for Mrs. Perry will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2005 in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Bill Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday prior to the service in the chapel or at other times at the home of a son, Roy Perry, 326 Lovers Lane, Elizabethton.
    The graveside service and interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2005 in Sunrise Cemetery, Bluff City.

    Ida Brewster Smith, 87, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Ida was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Andrew and Emma Williams.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, D.C. Williams, Ernest Williams and Preston Williams, and two sisters, Jane Perry and Goldie Williams.
    Ida retired as a nursing home aid and was a homemaker. She was a member of Nidiffer Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
    Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Frederick Albert Brewster III, of the home; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pauline Oliver of Elizabethton.
    A service to celebrate the life of Ida Brewster Smith will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 6 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 15, in the Buckles Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Wiley & Annie Pearl Williams Richardson. Carl was retired from the Tennessee Chair Factory. In earlier years he loved to go camping and fishing. He was a member of the New Hope Church of Jesus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Sylvia Richardson and a brother: Steve Richardson.
    Survivors include his wife of 57 years: Naomi Williams Richardson. Two sons: Rickey C. Richardson and wife Joyce, and Curtis E. Richardson, all of Elizabethton. A Grandson: Nicholas Green and a very special Great Grandson: Mason Green. A Sister: Florence Stevens, Johnson City. Three Brothers: Frankie and Elbert Richardson both of Elizabethton, and Harley Richardson, Johnson City. Several nieces & nephews.
    Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in the Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastors Sandra & Jonny Ollis officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Music will be provided by Shelly Rodifer, Elijah Rodifer and Jerry Smith. Mrs. Stevens was a charter member of the Y Freewill Baptist Church n Johnson City. She had worked for the Family Drive-In and Skyline Drive-In and retired from the Johnson City Mall. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis ?Hawk? Stevens in 2016; a sister, Sylvia Richardson and two brothers, Carl and Steve Richardson.

    Survivors include her three children, Gary Stevens of Elizabethton, Eugene Stevens and wife, Karen of Madisonville, TN and Sandra Townsend and husband, Mike of Johnson City; three brothers, Frank Richardson and Elbert Richardson both of Elizabethton and Harley Richardson of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Christopher Stevens, Cody Stevens, Eugene Stevens Jr., James Miller and Justin Miller; seven great-grandchildren, Danielle, Sarah, Katherine, Jase, Case and Skyler Stevens and Travis Miller; step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brandon Martin and Amy Moses, Chris, Chad and Alicia Townsend, Shea Leigh Moses and Talon and Lilly Martin.

    Graveside services for Mrs. Stevens will be conducted at 2:30 PM Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in the Roselawn Memory Park with Rev. Johnny Richardson officiating.

    JOHNSON CITY - Florence Katherine Stevens, 84, Johnson City passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 in the Johnson City Medical Center.

    She was a native of Elizabethton and was a daughter of the late Wally Thomas Richardson and Annie Pearl Williams Richardson. Mrs. Stevens was a charter member of the Y Freewill Baptist Church n Johnson City. She had worked for the Family Drive-In and Skyline Drive-In and retired from the Johnson City Mall. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis "Hawk" Stevens in 2016; a sister, Sylvia Richardson and two brothers, Carl and Steve Richardson.

    Survivors include her three children, Gary Stevens of Elizabethton, Eugene Stevens and wife, Karen of Madisonville, TN and Sandra Townsend and husband, Mike of Johnson City; three brothers, Frank Richardson and Elbert Richardson both of Elizabethton and Harley Richardson of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Christopher Stevens, Cody Stevens, Eugene Stevens Jr., James Miller and Justin Miller; seven great-grandchildren, Danielle, Sarah, Katherine, Jase, Case and Skyler Stevens and Travis Miller; step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brandon Martin and Amy Moses, Chris, Chad and Alicia Townsend, Shea Leigh Moses and Talon and Lilly Martin.

    Graveside services for Mrs. Stevens will be conducted at 2:30 PM Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in the Roselawn Memory Park with Rev. Johnny Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City from 1:00 to 2:00 PM then proceed to the cemetery. Mrs. Stevens sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.

    ELIZABETHTON - Franklin D. "Frank" Richardson, 77, Elizabethton, passed a way unexpectedly Monday, February 25, 2019 at his residence.

    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Wiley T. & Anna Pearl Williams Richardson. Frank was a 1961 graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended Steed College. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was an employee of North American Rayon Corporation for 35 + years until its closing and he retired from Mapes Piano String. He was a member of Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church. Frank was a member of the Carter County Honor Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years Charlotte Lou Fair Richardson who passed away June 13, 2012, by two brothers: Stephen Paul Richardson and Carl Richardson and two sisters: Sylvia Richardson and Florence Stevens.

    Survivors include two daughters: Angela Manning & husband Foye, Morristown, TN and Diana Wright, Elizabethton. His Grandsons: Thomas Tester, David "Dylan" Wright and Franklin Wright, His Granddaughters: Nickie Grayless, Anna Jennings, Emily Wright, Great Granddaughters: Makayla Tester, Zoë Hyatt, Olivia Tester, Izzabella Wright and Chasity Grayless, Great Grandsons: Timothy & Steven Jennings and Spencer Heaton. Two Brothers: Harley Richardson, Johnson City and Everette Richardson, Elizabethton. Several nieces & nephews.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Jordan and Pastor Gene Fleenor officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 1:45 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers and Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard.     Joan was a native of Carter County, a devoted, loving and caring Mother and a member of Blue Springs Christian Church. She loved her church, garden work and the people of her church.
    Those left to cherish her many wonderful memories include her daughter, Teresa Ward of Elizabethton; a son, Jeffrey Ward and wife Patty of Glen St. Mary, Fla.; three sisters, Wanda Bennett, Nadine Ward and Louis, all of Elizabethton; three grandsons, James Miller and wife Bailey of Elizabethton, Aaron Ward of Virginia and Billy Collins of Picksburg, Pa.; and her granddaughter, Bianca Ward of California. Kenneth was born in Elizabethton to the late Harry Burgie and Ina Wilson Williams. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was also preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Michelle Williams.
    Kenneth was a proud United States Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was an electrical technician at ITT in Gray and also worked at Watauga Industries. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening – especially roses, fishing, telling jokes and loved his dogs.

    He is survived by sisters, Linda Bowers, Emma Jo Bowers, Diana Hill and Margaret Morris, and his brothers, Jerry, David and Eddie Bowers, all of Elizabethton; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his aunt, Geraldine Baird; and his special little dog friend "Pete."
    Randy was a very special and gifted person. He was known as "Red Man" to everyone who knew him. He loved going to concerts and rock music. He especially loved Hank Williams Jr.
    We would like to thank his doctor, Kimberly Kleine (who was very special to him), his therapist, Gordon, his home health nurses and his Social Workers. We can't thank these people enough for everything they did for Randy; they made a big difference in his life in just the last few months. Randy will be terribly missed by all of us. Randy chose to give his body to research to help other people.

    Goldy was a very caring and giving person who always had a smile on her face. She was a hard worker and loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandkids. She faithfully attended Mountain City Baptist Church until her illness prevented her from doing so.
    Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Shelly Summerow (Craig Tester); sons, Kenny Luckett (Dianna) and Joey Luckett (Christy); sisters, Cassie Church and Donna Dugger; brothers, Eddie Williams (Lisa), Jewel Williams (Ivy) and Mack Williams (Susan); grandchildren, Corey and Marissa Summerow, Macey, Maelie, Madelyn and Mason Luckett, Trevor and Hayden Luckett; special friend and caregiver, Willie Neely; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
    The family received friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Monday, January 24, at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service followed at 3 p.m. with Pastor Daniel Jones officiating.     Ivan was a great man and lived a simple life. He was a very gifted and talented carpenter. He was always willing to help others and was a very giving man. Ivan was very kind and always happy. Ivan also enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. He loved his pets, the parakeet, Polly and his Ducky. He was of the Christian faith.

    Those left to cherish his memories include his sisters, Cassie Church, Goldie Luckett and Donna Roberts; brothers, Mack Williams, Eddie Williams and Jewel Williams; special nephews, Brandon Williams and Dillon Williams; very special great nephew, Preston Williams and several loved nieces and nephews, and special friends and neighbors.

    Gary retired from East Tennessee State University as a Maintenance Supervisor. He was formerly employed at SB White for 26 years.
    Gary’s grandkids were the light of his life. He had a love for history and enjoyed teaching others about his culture. Gary participated in the Wataugans outdoor drama as Chief Little Carpenter for 30 years. He was a founding member of the Ghost Riders and also founded the Tennessee Frontiersman.
    He is survived by his sons, Chris Stevens and Cody Stevens (Miranda), grandchildren, Sarah Stevens, Katherine Stevens, Case Stevens and Delaney Stevens, brother, Eugene Stevens Sr. (Karen), sister, Sandra Townsend, several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and fur-buddies, Gracie and Daisy.
    In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his first wife, Daisy.
    A funeral service will be held at the Tipton-Haynes Historic Site on Friday, October 15, 2021, at 12:00 PM. The graveside service will follow at 2:00PM at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
