Edna Hoyle Davis, 86, 523 Monroe Street, Erwin died Saturday, October 15, 2005, at her residence. She was a native of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Robert Spencer and Ethel Chandler Hoyle. She had employeed at the former Southern Potteries and later worked at the former Industrial Garment Mfg. for more than 40 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she formerly had served in the Nursery and Children's Departments. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn G. Davis; by one brother, Grady Hoyle and by two sisters, Una Blankenship and Delia Hoyle.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Rev. David Crutchfield and Rev. Tim Bennett will officiate. Vocal selections will be provided by Gary Amos. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at Roselawn Memory Gardens.

ERWIN - Verl H. Stephenson, age 96, Erwin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at the Center on Aging and Health.

She lived most of her life in Unicoi County and was a daughter of the late Spencer and Ethel Chandler Hoyle.

Verl was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church. She retired from Morrill Electric after several years of service.
Verl was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, cooking and canning. Verl always kept herself busy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Mike and Bruce Stephenson; four brothers: Robert, Grady, Hual and Vanas Hoyle; four sisters: Vera Carter, Delia Hoyle, Edna Davis and Una Blankenship.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, one son, Tony Stephenson (Pat), Unicoi; one daughter, Regina Blakely (Melvin), Winston Salem, NC; two sisters: Phyllis Hoyle and Shirley Fender, both of Erwin; ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Monday, July 8, 2019 in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Bill Ponder will officiate at the 1:00 P.M. funeral service. Interment will follow in the Clear Branch Cemetery. Family will serve as pallbearers.

Grady married Rita Guinn about 1954 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee. Rita (daughter of Arthur Blaine Guinn and Ziporrah Tilson) was born about 1928 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee; died on 12 May 2010 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Clear Branch Cemetery, , Unicoi County, Tennessee. Hual married Trula Lewis on 10 Jan 1953 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee. Trula (daughter of Elzie Lewis and Emma Hughes) was born on 9 Sep 1925 in , Yancey County, , North Carolina; died on 31 May 1993 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Higgins Chapel Cemetery, , Unicoi County, Tennessee.
