    Master Sergeant Fred L. Campbell, U.S. Army (Retired), age 80, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Mr.

    He was the son of the late George John and Nora Johnson Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Campbell.

    Mr. Campbell was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a former member of Fairview and Sinking Creek Baptist churches. He was a member of Gideon International and a 50 year member of Dashiell Mason, Lodge No. 238 F&AM, a member of Jericho Shrine, a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, and a member of Kerbela Shrine Temple of Knoxville, Tennessee. Mr. Campbell was a veteran of the United States Air Force, United States Navy, United States Marine Corp and retired from the United States Army having served in the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the American Legion Watauga Post No. 49.

    A Celebration of the Life service for Mr. Fred Campbell was held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, Tennessee.

    The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 23, 2013 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Full military honors will be accorded by the Military Honor Guard.

    KINGSPORT - Donald Edward "Duck" Campbell, age 79, of Kingsport, TN passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 with his wife by his side.

    Don was born October 16, 1938 in Elizabethton, TN to the late George and Nora Campbell. Having a strong patriotic spirit, Don enlisted in the Marine Reserves from 1956 – 1962. After Don's service in the Marine Reserves, he had a career in the manufacturing industry at North American Rayon. Don was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church in Elizabethton, TN where he made his home and raised his children.

    Don was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nora Campbell of Johnson City, TN and his brothers, Robert Campbell of Watauga, TN and Fred Campbell of Elizabethton, TN. He is survived by his wife, Joy Gill of Kingsport, TN; his sister, Phyllis Taylor and her husband Kenneth of Johnson City, TN and his children, Jassen Edward Campbell of Bristol, TN and Donald Chad Campbell and his wife Amy of Asheville, NC. Don is also survived by his grandson who he adored, Davis Edward Campbell, son of Jassen Edward Campbell of Bristol, TN; a sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Campbell and numerous nieces and nephews.

    A service of worship in celebration of Don's life will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services, 101 East F Street, Elizabethton, TN with Rev. Mark Fowler of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 6:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the service.

    A private graveside service will be held in Washington County Memory Gardens, Johnson City, TN. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church.

    JOHNSON CITY - Mr. Howard Perry, age 85, of Johnson City, TN passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 at his residence.

    A native of Carter County, TN he was the son of the late Earnest L. Perry and Pansy Campbell Perry. Mr. Perry retired from Raytheon after thirty-six years of service. Following his retirement, he worked seventeen years with Murray Guard. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of University Parkway Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and helped work in the food pantry. Mr. Perry enjoyed gardening, loved sports, especially baseball, and watching his grandchildren play sports.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Perry and three sisters, Blanche Sass, Norma Carrier and Trula Bullock. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty-two years, Evelyn Bageant Perry, of the home; a son, Dr. Tim Perry and wife Ronda, Kingsport, TN; three special sons, Adam Reeser and wife Ashley, Andrew Reeser and wife Ashley, and Nathaniel Horton and wife Kristen, all of Johnson City; special grandchildren, Lauren Reeser, Landon Reeser, Caleb Reeser, Logan Reeser, Caleb Faulk and Christopher Horton and two sisters, Linda Persinger, Bluff City, TN and Judy Dowell, of Pennsylvania.

    A service to honor the life of Mr. Howard Perry will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Scott Thompson officiating. Eulogy will be given by Dr. Tim Perry. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday prior to the service or at the residence at other times.

    Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:45 A.M. on Thursday, March 28, 2019 in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be R. H. Milhorn, Roger Cooper, Carlos Smith and Gene Bullock.

    WATAUGA - Larry Roger Hammons, 80, Watauga, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Elizabethton, TN, following an extended illness.
    Larry was born in Carter County to the late Fred and Geneva Campbell Hammons.
    Larry graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1960. He continued his education at Milligan College. Then he went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force. Next, Larry worked for Hoffmann Aircraft and then Sunshine biscuits, Inc in Lenexa, KS.
    In June of 1969, Larry met the love of his life, Linda, at Watauga Christian Church. On August 15, 1970, Larry and Linda were married and began a very blessed life together. Life brought Larry and Linda to central Illinois, where he worked for Swift and Co. Larry attended Johnson University (Bible College) graduating in 1975. He pastored and preached in Mississippi, South Carolina, Illinois and Tennessee. He loved to tell everyone that the Lord loved them. Larry worked several positions before going to work for the City of Elizabethton as quality control for the water department. He retired in 2004 after 13 years.
    In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by: one infant brother; one cousin, Robert Campbell; one sister-in-law, Nilah Groves Mills; and one brother-in-law, Charles Brubaker.
    Survivors include: his wife of 51 years, Linda Lee Hammons; two sons, Roger Hammons and his wife Sarah and Daniel Hammons and his wife Stephanie; two grandchildren, Alexis Norris and her husband Justin, and Chesnee Hammons; two great grandchildren, Knox and Nash; one sister, Gail Brubaker; nieces and nephews, Chris Brubaker and his wife Carrie, Michael Brubaker and his wife Jennifer, Sarah Woods and her husband Ben and nine great nieces and nephews; niece, Jennifer Schmale, and sons, Abe Schmale and his wife Hannah and Jacob Schmale; special cousins, Jana Lisa Hicks and her husband Dennis, Kristen Campbell and son Gabe , Kendra Hicks, Joey Campbell and his wife Paula and Jeffrey Campbell. And many cousins.
    The family would like to thank all the CNAs at Hillview Home Care, especially Bridget Fletcher and Teresa Baines, recently the nurses at Sycamore Shoals, and Dr. Ronald Blackmore and his staff. Also, all the caregivers that have been involved in Larry’s care for their tremendous care and treatment given to Larry throughout his eleven-year illness. Also, a special thank you to all the prayer warriors that have shown such kindness and support during these difficult times. Larry’s Saturday morning prayer group and everyone at Frist Christian Church, thank you for your prayers.
