JONESBOROUGH - Mr. Edward "Jack" Jackson Higgins, age 96, Jonesborough, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Mr. Higgins was born in Unicoi County and son of the late W. G. and Virga Higgins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Higgins was a World War II veteran, serving in the US Army's 104th Infantry Timberwolf Division.

He was a member of Jonesborough Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, June Morley Higgins, Jonesborough and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Monte Vista Burial Park with Minister David Wheeler and Minister Bud Kent officiating.

JOHNSON CITY - Cora “Tinky” Lee Miller, age 78, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, April 8, 2022.
A native and lifelong resident of Johnson City, Tinky was born September 16, 1943 to the late William Brownlow Higgins and Lena Grant. She and her husband, Terry, owned and operated Terry’s Apex for 15 years. She also worked at Boone Distributing for several years.
Tinky was a longtime member of East Pine Grove Park United Methodist Church and volunteer for God’s Corner.
Tinky touched so many lives and she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Tinky was preceded in death by her first husband, Lonnie Bell; grandsons, Jeffrey Bell and Luciano Bell; special grandmother, Geneva Guthrie; sister, Louise Davis; and stepson, Mark Miller.
Those left to cherish Tinky’s memory include her husband of 44 years, Terry Miller; children, Sandy Bell (and Sheila Littleton), Jeff Bell (and Lavada), and Winnie Byrd (and Bill); stepchildren, Tammy Furnas (and Bill) and Donnie Miller; grandchildren, Madison, Carter, Taylor, Shane, Jimmy, Blaze, Chevy, and Cecilia; great-grandchildren, Jameson, Charlotte, Brady, Bristol, Ella Grace, and Bryson; brothers, Wayne Grant (and Danette) and Mickey Grant (and Phyllis); sisters, Jenny Krzoska (and Lee) and Launa “Kitty” Bailey (and Dean); special nieces, Linda, Danielle, and Sarah; daughter-in-law, Kim Miller; brother-in-law, Dickie Davis; and many special friends from Douglas Lake.
Tinky’s family will receive friends from 10:30-12:30 on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 12:30 pm, under the direction of Pastor Steven Brown and Pastor Nathan Jennings. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Roselawn Memory Gardens.

Louise Higgins Sellars, 90, of 1615 Crystal Springs Drive, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 3, 2020.

An Erwin native, Mrs. Sellars had lived in Johnson City since 1963. Most folks will remember her from her twenty-six years as a receptionist at the Johnson City Eye Clinic.

She was also an active member of Central Baptist Church where she was a member of the Esther Sunday School class.

She loved to start the day with a good cup of coffee, and to spend her time gardening and baking for those she cared for.

Mrs. Sellars was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, E.C. Sellars, in 2008; her parents, Floyd and Rosetta Higgins; a sister, Ruth Clouse; brother, Ralph V. Higgins, as well as an infant brother, Paul Higgins.

Survivors include children, Douglas K. Sellars and wife Billie Farthing, and Perry E. Sellars, both of Johnson City; three nephews also survive.

A committal service will be held for Mrs. Sellars at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Evergreen Cemetery in Erwin

ERWIN - Fredna Mae Higgins Williams, age 87, Erwin, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin, and a daughter of the late Fred and Lena Bowman Higgins.

Fredna was previously employed by Superior Home and Industrial Garment however, her greatest joy was being a Homemaker. She was a very hard worker and always kept herself busy inside and outside of her home. Fredna attended Southside Freewill Baptist Church. She loved attending church and adored her church family. Fredna was a woman of faith and her faith never faltered. She loved Jesus and people, Fredna generously opened her heart and home to all. Everyone was greeted with a hug and one of her big, contagious smiles. Fredna could always find the good in everyone she met over the years. She enjoyed joking around, telling funny stories, laughing and family beach vacations.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Fredna was a doting “Nanny,” her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love and light of her life. Our family cannot imagine life without her, and we will cherish every precious memory we have of her. We thank God for our dear mother and every moment He gave us with her. Our mother extended so much love, care and grace to each of us. She will be forever in our hearts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six and a half years, Reverend Arvil Williams on August 27, 2006; two brothers: Bill and Kenneth Higgins; four sisters: Ruby Tittle, Lillian Banner, Nadine Tisdale and Mary Lou Ricker; son-in-law, Charles Morrison.

Survivors include her loving and devoted family members: son, Terry Williams (Jane Ann), Johnson City; daughters: Debby Fender (Brinson) and Lisa Morrison, all of Erwin; grandchildren: Terri White (Brad), Gray, Summer Pakrul (Matt), Piney Flats, Josh McInturff, Piney Flats and Danielle Ahrens (Jason), Johnson City; eight great grandchildren: Noah Trivette, Zoey Hopkins, Cailyn Pinson, Cassius Ahrens, Peyton Pakrul, Rooty Ahrens, Ohklee Ahrens and Abram Ahrens; brother, Glynn Higgins (Barbara), Telford; Aunt Juanita Simmons; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Southside Freewill Baptist Church. Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate the 2:00 PM funeral service. Music will be provided by Darren Higgins, Kevin Laws, Bobby Ramsey and Danny Miller. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Darren Higgins, Keith Tittle, Noah Trivette, Josh McInturff, Jason Ahrens, Matt Pakrul, Joel Higgins, Brad White and Patrick Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Banner, Randy Higgins, Wayne Higgins and men of Southside Freewill Baptist Church.
