Mrs. Grace B. Joseph, 71, Hathburn Drive, Rockwood, Tenn., died Wednesday, September 27, 2000, at Roane Medical Center.
Mrs. Joseph was an employee of Gateway Cleaners and a member of Asbury Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Kate Bowers, a brother, Carl Bowers, and a sister, Ruth Taylor.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Benny T. and Karen Joseph, Kingston; two daughters, Susan J. Bowen, Techachapi, Calif., and Terri J. Jackson, Harriman; grandchildren, Jason and Justin Joseph, Amanda and Rebecca Bowen, Edgar Hunt Jr. and Samantha Jackson; three brothers, Floyd Bowers, Filmore Bowers and Charles Bowers, all of Elizabethton; two sisters, Effie Buckles, Elizabethton, and Wanda Bise, Hampton; and a special friend, Owen Gibson, Oak Ridge.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, September 29, in the Bowers Cemetery in Elizabethton.

Floyd "Tete" Bowers, 75, formerly of 1721 Hwy. 91, Elizabeton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at Life Care Center of Elizabeton following an extended illness.

Mr. Bowers was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Horace and Kate Williams Bowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Bowers Joseph and Ruth Bowers, and a grandson, Daniel Cambell.

Mr. Bowers was a member of Hunter First Batist Church. He retired from Ford Motor Company and had been a car dealer in Elizabethton.

Survivors, include his wife Barbara Bowers, two daughters, Sherry D. Campbell, of the home, and Julie Yankee, Elizabeton; four grandchildren, Tony Taylor, Jaclyn Campbell, Jessie Cowden, and Savannah Yankee, all of Elizabeton; a great grandchild, Makayla Taylor; two brothers, Charles Junior Bowers and Philmore Bowers, both of Elizabeton; and 2 sisters, Wanda Bice [of] Hampton, and Effie Buckles, Elizabeton.

The funeral services for Mr. Bowers will be conducted at 7 p. m. Thursday, Jan. 19, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Estep officiateing. The family will recieve friends at the funeral home from 5 untill 7 PM Thursday, prior to the Service. The Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

Wendell Hughie Williams, 77, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. Wendell was born in Carter County to the late Hughie and Wilma Anderson Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean (Lipps) Williams. Wendell retired from Mapes Piano String and was a member of Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church. Wendell loved fishing and loved his family. Those left to cherish Wendell’s memory include his son, Jeffrey (Susan) Williams of Elizabethton; one granddaughter, Bethany Williams of Elizabethton; one great-granddaughter, Maylee Williams, also of Elizabethton; and his special friends, Kenny Childers and Betty Williams, both of Elizabethton. A celebration of Wendell’s life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Rev. Estell Williams officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Kenny Childers, Hugh Buckles, Bethany Williams, Bobby Hall, Bobby Collins and Randy Norris. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 9:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to especially thank the doctors and staff at Franklin Woods Community Hospital and to Bobby Hall for the loving and exceptional care they gave to Wendell during his illness.

Harold "Big John" Williams, 70, of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016, at Pine Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center, following a brief illness. He was born in Carter County to the late Clarence C. Williams and Josephine Ritchie Williams.
"Big John" had worked in the furniture industry and was of the Freewill Baptist faith. He enjoyed eating breakfast with his buddies at City Market and Nancy's Kitchen and especially enjoyed going to the Carter County Cruise Ins on Saturdays.
Those left to cherish his memory include two brothers, his twin brother, Darrell Williams and wife Barbara, and Clarence Ed Williams and wife Charlotte, all of Elizabethton; two cousins, Frances Stoneburner and Vernon Robinson, both of Maryland; one nephew, Darrell Wayne Williams, Elizabethton; two nieces, Melissa Ann Andrews and husband James and Kathy Lynn Hilton, all of Elizabethton; two great-nephews, Jeffrey "Sketter" Bowers and Billy Wayne Hilton Jr., both of Elizabethton; two great-nieces, Kelly Joe May Hilton and Jamie Andrews, both of Elizabethton; and a special buddy, Jessie James Wallace, Elizabethton.
A service to honor the life of Harold "Big John" Williams will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, March 7, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Rev. Carl Grindstaff and Rev. Doug Hinshaw officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, or at the residence of his brother, Ed Williams, 112 Crestview Drive, Elizabethton, at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 10:15 a.m.
Tuesday to go in procession. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Stephen May and the nurses and staff of Pine Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center for the love and care shown to "Big John" during his illness.

Darrell Williams, 77, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Clarence C. and Josephine Ritchie Williams. Darrell was an Auto Body Detailer. He loved having muscles cars and going to the car show. He was of the Christian Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Harold Williams, and a great-nephew, Billy “Peanut” Hilton. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Barbara Forbes Williams; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell Wayne and Donna Williams; a grandson, Chris Whitehead; his brother and his wife, Clarence E. (Charlotte) Williams; two nieces, Kathy Hilton and Ann (James) Andrews; several great-nieces, nephews and cousins; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Randy and Nadine Forbes; his nephew and niece, Wesley and Megan Buckner; and his great-nephew, Caleb. A graveside service for family and friends will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Carl Grindstaff officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
