Mr. Whitehead was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Frank and Jennie Morton Whitehead.
Mr. Whitehead was a former employee of Levi Strauss. He was a member of Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Street Whitehead; three daughters and a son-in-law, Vivian and Bobby Sneed and Carolyn Whitehead, all of Hampton, and Sandy Whitehead, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, David "Doug" and Kim Whitehead, Hampton; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special niece, Marlene Good, Elizabethton; and a sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Walter Taylor, Elizabethton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Shane Waters and the Rev. Troy Davis officiating. Music will be provided by The Sounds of Victory. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 13, in the Whitehead Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, will be Ronald Street, Ed Chambers, George Collins, Jimmy Collins, Ben Stevens, Louis Whitehead and Bobby Sneed. Juanita Whitehead Taylor, 91, of Elizabethton, passed from this life to her eternal life on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, following a lengthy illness. Juanita was born on November 14, 1927 to the late Frank Stuart and Jennie Morton Whitehead. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Fate Whitehead, and an infant sister, Ethel.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 68 years, Walter Taylor, and daughters, Marlene (Richard) Good and Donna (Dan) Schumaier; her grandsons, John (Ketasha) Goodwin and Jordan Grindstaff; three great-grandchildren, Graham, Gracen and Gretchen Goodwin; along with several nieces and nephews.
Juanita was a member of Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church. She loved being outdoors and was happiest in her garden or yard. She loved animals and had several special pets through the years. She also loved feeding the birds and watching and identifying them.
A Celebration of Juanita's life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Luis O'Bourke officiating. Music will be provided by John and Ketasha Goodwin. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Ella Jay Morton Tolley, 96, Hampton passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 in the Hermitage Health Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late William & Essie Murray Morton. She was a homemaker who loved to cook and work in her yard. She attended Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Julius Tolley who died July 3, 1994 and by four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her children: Sharon Moore & husband Arthur, Elizabethton and Julius Tolley, Jr & wife Sandy, Hampton. Two Grandchildren: Betty Jane Fernandes & husband Chauncey and Gary Hensley & wife Teresa. Several Great Grandchildren. One Sister: Erma Lee Wright, Elizabethton.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery with the Rev. Dexter Brummitt officiating. Burial will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Friends may visit with either of the children at their home. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Hermitage Health Center and the staff of Caris Hospice for all the care she received during her stay there.

Mr. Whitehead was a native of Hampton and a son of the late Henry and Lucy Morton Whitehead. He was also preceded in death by a brother.
Mr. Whitehead was a retired store room clerk at North American Rayon Corporation. He was a member and deacon of Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church and a member of Hampton Masonic Lodge #750. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a Disabled Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Hughes Whitehead; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Ned Isaacs, Hampton; a son, Alvin Whitehead, of the home; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Shirley Whitehead, Johnson City, and Louis and Dale Whitehead, Hampton; two sisters, Hazel Malone and Crystal Johnson, both of Hampton; a granddaughter, Beth Amy Isaacs; and three aunts, Tina Humphreys and Julie Miller, both of Elizabethton, and Arizona Hopson, Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Henry A. and Lucy Morton Whitehead. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Little Doe Freewill Baptist Church and was a retired nurse.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James "Black" Johnson, and three brothers, Babe Whitehead, Lester Whitehead and Narvel Whitehead.

JOHNSON CITY - Ed Whitehead, 90. Johnson City, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the Hillview Health Center. He was born December 24, 1930, in Hampton to the late Henry & Lucy Morton Whitehead. He was a 1949 graduate of Hampton High School. Ed served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired truck driver. He formerly worked at ETWNC and Jones Truck Line. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Narvel & Louis Whitehead and two sisters: Crystal Johnson and Hazel Malone.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years: Shirley Simerly Whitehead. One Daughter & Son-In-Law: Deborah & David Shankle of Johnson City. Two Grandchildren: David E. (Victoria) Shankle and Daniel (Ashley) Shankle. Three Great Grandchildren: David R., Emma and Edmund. Several nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with his Nephew Pastor Greg Whitehead officiating, also assisting is Pastor Chuck Babb. HAMPTON - Louis Whitehead, 80, Hampton, passed away peacefully Friday, April 28, 2017 at his residence with his family by his side.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Henry A. & Lucy Morton Whitehead. Louis was a 1955 graduate of Hampton High School and attended East Tennessee State College. He served in the United States Army. He was a retired Tool & Die Maker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Navel Whitehead, Two Sisters: Crystal Johnson and Hazel Malone and two infant brothers. He was a Member and Deacon of Morgan Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years: Dale Roberts Whitehead. Three Children: Vickie Whitehead Jenkins, Deltona, Florida, Lisa Whitehead Blackburn and husband Dana, and Greg Whitehead and wife Celena all of Hampton. Five Grandchildren: Allison and Kayla Jenkins, Stone Hutchinson, Kelli Blackburn and Louis Seth Whitehead. One Brother: Ed Whitehead and wife Shirley, Johnson City. Several nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with his son Pastor Greg Whitehead officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in the Whitehead Cemetery with Pastor Troy Davis officiating. Music will be provided by his granddaughter, Kayla Jenkins.
