    She is survived by two daughters, Emma Jean "Jeannie" Parsons and her fiance Keith Rhymer, and Lisa May Parsons, all of Deep Gap; two sons, James Mark Parsons and wife Kimberly Lynn, and Joey Edward Parsons and wife Becky, all of Deep Gap; her companion, Lynn Pardue of Todd; her former husband, James "J.E." Parsons and wife Dede, of Deep Gap; one granddaughter, Kelsey Parsons; six grandsons, Christopher Parsons and wife Monica, Joey Parsons, Jr., Michael Parsons, Adam Bunton, Shawn Adams, and Zachary Parsons; one great-grandson, Blake Parsons; six sisters, Grace Miller of Mountain City, Tennessee, Elithe Little of West Jefferson, Zelma Miller of Todd, Beatrice McMillian and husband Jessee, Rachel Potter Dancy, and Mary Potter, all of Crumpler, and four brothers, Sam Potter of Hickory, James Potter and wife Shirley of Boone, Paul Potter and wife Sue of Creston, and Butler Potter and wife Sheila of Todd. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a number of nieces and nephews.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Canter; one brother, Luther Potter, and twin infant siblings.

    Funeral services were held at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Steve Williams and Reverend Nathan Caparoli. Burial in the Potter-Main Cemetery.

    She was born September 28, 1949 in Watauga County, a daughter of Alice Snyder Potter and the late Rom B Potter.

    She was a homemaker and former activities director at Glenbridge Health Care and attended Faith Baptist Church in Boone.

    Survivors include her husband, R D Canter, two daughters, one son, one granddaughter, her mother, Alice Snyder Potter, seven sisters and four brothers. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and one uncle.

    In addition to her father, she was precede in death by one brother, Luther Potter.

    Paul Wayne Potter, Sr., 64, of Creston, N.C., passed away Thursday afternoon, August 17, 2017, at his home.

    Funeral services will be held Monday, August 21, 2017, at 10 a.m., at Boone Family Funeral Home with Speaker Heather Rickman, the Rev. Steve Ashley, and the Rev. Paul Kurts officiating. Burial will follow in the Potter-Main Cemetery. The family received friends, Sunday, August 20, 2017, from 6 until 8 p.m., at Boone Family Funeral Home.

    Mr. Potter was born in Watauga County on July 14, 1953, to the late Rom Butler and Mary Alice Snyder Potter.

    He was owner/operator of Potters Lumber of Creston. He was the minister of Place of Rest Community Church. Paul enjoyed helping his friends and community. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, such as Rook and Hand and Foot. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother; he will be missed by all.

    He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Canter and Emma Nell Parsons; a brother, Luther Potter.

    Mr. Potter is survived by his wife, Susan Jones Potter; a son, Paul Potter, Jr., and wife, Christina, of Jefferson; two daughters, Heather Potter Rickman and husband, Andy, of Spruce Pine and Shannon Potter Woods and husband, Gene, of Jefferson; three brothers, Sam Potter, of Hickory, James Potter, of Todd and Butler Potter of Todd; six sisters, Grace Miller, of Todd, Elithe Little, of West Jefferson, Zelma Miller, of Todd, Bea McMillian, of Crumpler, Mary Potter, of West Jefferson and Rachel Dancy, of Crumpler; ten grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
