Zola Jane Reece Wolfe, age 95, of Bristol, Tenn., entered the presence of Jesus on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at the Cambridge House.
She was born June 17, 1924 in Trade, Tenn., a daughter of the late Asa and Ida Reece, and had lived in Bristol since 1943. She was a member of East End Christian Church since 1944. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Fred B. Wolfe: their daughters, Barbara Stark and Penny Holbrook; and her sister, Eula Milligan, all of Bristol; her grandson, Matthew Stark, and 11 half-brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Freddie "Joe" Wolfe; and daughter-in-law, Anna Lee and Jerry B. Wolfe, both of Bristol, VA: son-in-law, Dennis Holbrook of Bristol, Tenn.. grandson, Gray Holbrook of Keller, Texas; great grandchildren, Brady Holbrook, Kendal Holbrook and Izzie Holbrook; and nephews, Daryl Milligan and Gerald Milligan.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2019, at Mountain View Cemetery with Bro. Paul Young officiating.

Eula Reece Milligan, 83, of Bristol, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at NHC in Bristol, Virginia, while recovering from a broken hip. She was born in Trade, Tenn., on August 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Asa and Ida Greer Reece. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Harry Eugene Milligan. She spent her childhood in Trade, Tenn., and moved to Bristol, Va. in 1946. Doing things for her family and other people made her the happiest. She dearly loved her granddaughter. She was a member of West Hills Christian Church and loved her church family. She was a past member and Noble Grand of Twin City Rebekah Lodge #102. Eula is survived by her two sons, Darryl Milligan and wife, Katie of Bristol, Va., and Gerald Milligan of Lewisville, N.C.; one grandchild, Kinzel Milligan; one sister, Zola Wolfe of Bristol, Va.; one sister-in-law, Sarah Akers of Norton, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 until 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Blevins Funeral Cremation Services, 417 Lee St., Bristol, Va. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Gary Knapp officiating the chapel service. Mrs. Hester D. Reece Eggers, age 89, of 919 Medical Park Drive, Mountain City, formerly of Trade, Tenn., passed away, Friday, Dec. 1, 2006 in the Mountain City Care Center following an extended illness.

She was a native of Johnson County and was born Sept. 14, 1917 to the late Roby C. and Callie Miller Reece.

Mrs. Eggers was a member of the Mountain City Church of Christ and loved flowers, gardening, quilting and her family and friends.

Survivors include three sons, Donald Eggers and wife, Louise, of Vilas, N.C., Curtis Eggers and wife, Lucy, of Boone, N.C., Norman Ray (Bub) Eggers or Trade, Tenn.; five daughters, Louise Morefield and husband, Everette, of Meadowview, Va., Lucille Cress of Mountain City, Juanita Eggers of Mountain City, Cara Lee Johnson and husband, Bernard, of Boone, N.C. and Jo Ella Winters of Mountain City; one daughter-in-law, Susie Eggers of Catawba, N.C.; one brother, Roby Reece Jr. of Have-De-Grace, Md.; one sister, Dora Eggers of Mountain City, Tenn.; 28 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar W. Eggers, who passed away Jan. 3, 2004; also by a son, Cecil Eggers; four brothers and five sisters; one son-in-law, Allen Cress; one great-granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

Funeral services were held 2:00 p. m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006 from the Chapel of the Henson Funeral Home with Mr. Vergil Cretsinger and Mr. Bill Reece, ministers officiating.

Burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Park.

Dolphus D. Deral Reece, age 89, of Florida and formerly of Mountain City, TN, passed away on Saturday November 5, 2011 at the Emerald Coast Health Center of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was born on March 15, 1922 to the late Arthur and Jane Main Reece. In addition to his parents, Dolphus was preceded in death by siblings, Luther Reece, Floy Reece, Lorettie Martin, Thelma Wallace, Ollie Robinson, Ethel Reece, Ella May Combs and Coy Reece. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Army Air Corps as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Dolphus was a farmer all of his life, a top Chevrolet mechanic for 36 years and a Massey-Ferguson tractor mechanic. He was a member of Center View Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Della Phillippi Reece; daughter, Marjorie Outlaw, and husband Bruce of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; son, Luther 'Bud' Reece and wife Marian of Sharps Chapel, TN; grandchildren, Lisa Andrews of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Amy Bright and husband Randy of Dover, DE and Jon Reece of Cocoa Beach, FL; great grandchildren, Ryan and Hunter Andrews and Hayden, Garrett and Lauren Bright and many nieces and nephews. Special friends include, Rhonda Reece, Earl Greer, Harvey Burniston, Joe Widner, Maurice Widner, Lynn Courtner and Steve Reece.

Ella Mae "Babe" Combs age 83 of 903 N. Shady, Hwy. 421, Mountain City, TN went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the home of her son in law and daughter, Michael and Mary Combs Tedesco of Cochranville, PA. She was a native of Johnson County and lived in Chester County, West Grove, PA many years before retiring to Tennessee. She belonged to the Avondale Church of Christ. She was an excellent seamstress, Quilter, and painter, a belover mother, wife grandmother and great grandmother. She was an active member of the March of Dimes, proactive in Project Headstart in 1967 as well as the Crippled Children's School of West Chester, PA. She was the daughter of the late Arthur R Reece and Amanda Jane Mains Reece. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Paul W. Combs, Sr., who passed away in 1998. In addition to her husband he was preceded in death by a son, Paul Combs Jr., who passed away in 2004.
Survivors include, two sons, Bobby R. Combs and wife Gail, Oxford, PA and J. Gary Combs and wife Marsha of Kennett Square, PA, one brother , Dolphus Reece, special niece, Shirley Lipford Hedges of Mountain City, TN., 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Tommy Reece, age 75, of Mountain City, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 6, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. Tom was born on June 1, 1946 to the late John Kermit Reece and Myrtle V. Eldreth Reece. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Dowell.

Tommy was a man of many talents and could do anything he set his mind to. He spent many years building houses and driving a truck. He loved his family and the joy of his life was his granddaughter and grandson.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 56 years, Phyllis Reece; children, Jim Reece and wife Teresa, Beverly Osborne and husband Charlie, Jeff Reece and wife Vickie; brothers, Ronda Reece and wife Etta Jane, Roddy Reece and wife Mae; sister-in law, Shirley Rhymer; brother-in-law, Ronnie Martin; grandchildren, Dalton Reece, Samantha Reece; several nieces and nephews.

JOHNSON, OSCAR ANDREW, age 82, of Jefferson City, formerly of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed way at 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening, January 21, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City following a brief illness. He was a member of the Covenant Life Church in Morristown and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. Mr. Johnson was a retired employee of the Jefferson City Water Works. Earl S. Johnson, age 82, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Watauga Medical Center. He was born on September 29, 1930 to the late Lilly Johnson. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law: Irene and Wade Dunn, Ruth and Clayton Mains, Betty Johnson and Hettie Chafin and Hattie Johnson; brothers and sister-in-law: Oscar and Polly Johnson, Bruce Johnson and Sam Johnson one granddaughter, Reba Michelle Harper and two great grandchildren, Riley Edmisten and Dominic Johnson.

Earl was a retired farmer and still enjoyed being outdoors, farming, fishing and building bird houses. He had served as Johnson County Constable for 35 years. Earl had also owned and operated Johnson Fence Company for many years. Earl was a faithful man and had served as Deacon through the years and currently serves as Deacon at New Hope Baptist Church. Earl loved his family and spending time with him. He will deeply be missed.

Mary Elizabeth Horne, age 92 of Mountain City, Tennessee passed away on Thursday February 1st, 2018 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born in Johnson County, TN on October 10, 1925 to the late Joe Norris and Ila Reece Norris. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Burnis Horne; daughter, Lois Marie Cress; sisters: Laura Sue Norris, Josephine Revelle and Catherine Absher and brothers: Junior Clay Norris, Mack Norris, and Jimmy Dean Norris.

Mary loved working in her flowers, yard work, and gardening. She also enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Ruby Mae Harper, age 89, went to be with her lord on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born on October 23, 1930 to the late Joe Norris and Ila Thelma Reece Norris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Harper; son, Wayne Harper; son-in-law, Lester Rominger; sisters, Elizabeth Horne, Laura Sue Norris, Josephine Revelle, Catherine Absher; brothers, Junior Clay Norris, Mack Norris, and Jimmy Dean Norris.

Ruby loved to quilt, crochet, work in her flowers, have yard sales, set on her front porch, cook big meals for her family at holidays, and make apple butter the old fashioned way. She raised her children with a firm , but loving, hand. She was called by many names, but the ones she loved most was being called “Mamaw” by her grandchildren and “Granny” by her precious great-grandchildren.

Special thanks go to the CNA’s, nurses, and staff/volunteers at Mountain City Care Center Hall TWO, who took such good care of Ruby and loved her as a grandmother. Her favorite past time while there was when the ladies read to her from the Bible. They became family to Ruby, and will never be forgotten. Other very special caregivers were Phyliss Morefield, Everett Dunn, Annalee Lowe, and Susan Morefield.

Marvin Dayton Wallace, age 81 of Mountain City, TN passed away Thursday January 10, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on May 2, 1937 in Johnson County, TN to the late Carl Wallace and Thelma Reece Wallace. In addition to his parents Dayton was preceded in death by three sons, Marvin Wallace, Jr., Dwight Wallace and Harry Thompson, his sister Pearl May, brothers, Robert Wallace, Charles Jack Wallace and Loyd Wallace.

Dayton was a United States Army veteran. He retired from Chrysler in Newark, DE. Dayton loved nature, enjoyed his front porch time, watching birds and his neighbors dogs. Those who knew him best know that Dayton enjoyed his morning Brandy.

Dayton is survived by his daughter, Barbara Wallace and fiancé Jay of West Grove, PA, brother, Cecil Wallace of Sweet Home, Oregon, grandchildren, Dana DiBenedetto and husband Salvatore of Landenberg, PA and Shannon Masten and fiancé Chris of Kennett Square, PA, great-grandchildren, Salvatore DiBenedetto and Giavanna DiBenedetto of Landenberg, PA, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by special friends and neighbors, Tish and Delmer Vaught.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Steven Spencer to officiate. Hope Reece, age 68 of Trade, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Watauga Medical Center. Hope was born on October 30, 1952 to the late Bruce Reece and Willie Canter Proffitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lynda Greene, Cynthia Lipford, and brothers, Sherry Reece, Wayne Reece, David Reece, and Norman Reece.

Hope was very spirited and charismatic. She was an incredibly strong woman who endured more than most could and more than anyone should. She also adored her little dog named Trouble.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Kimberly Barnett; granddaughters, Brooklyn Hope Barnett, and her partner in crime, Halei Reid Barnett; sisters, Audrey Faith Thomas, Charity Jane Reece; brother, Joe Reece; several nieces, nephews and special friends; and a special mention to Audrey for always being there for her.

Hope will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Reece Cemetery on Bulldog Road in Trade.

Walter Dayton Reece, age 87, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Hillview Health Center and Nursing Home of Elizabethton. He was born on April 11, 1931 to the late Hillery Reece and Ethel Carol Reece. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene McQueen Reece, a son, Walter Ricky Reece; sisters, Beulah Allen and Lucille Jenkins and brothers, Claude Reece, Clyde Reece and Herbert Reece.

Walter loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed camping and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his Church family.

He was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War.

Maxine Jeanette Reece Michael passed into eternal rest on December 5, 2021, surrounded by loved ones at Hermitage Health Center in Elizabethton, Tennessee. A faithful servant of the Lord, she has completed her course with the race won.

The eldest of nine children, she was born on October 22, 1935, in Shady Valley to the late Martin L. Reece and the late Wilma Heaton Reece. She grew up in Trade, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Michael. She was also preceded by her second husband, Andy Price. Her son, Robert B. Michael, and brothers, Freddie Reece, Jerry Reece, Johnnie Reece, Tommie Reece, and Eugene Reece also precede her.

She is survived by a large, loving family: Her children, Hazel (John) Hollaway, Cathy (Ernest Ray) Michael, Marty (Karen Horne) Michael, Joy (Brenden) Michael Bohannon, and daughter-in-law Althea Michael; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; Brothers Gary (Roseletta) Reece, Bill (Glenda) Reece, sister Margaret (Larry) Wallace, sisters-in-law Carolyn Reece, Phyllis Reece, and Elaine Reece and a great number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was especially close to her grandchildren Madalyn, Lauryn, Kristyn, and Cormac.

During her life Maxine filled a number of roles, among them: homemaker, a worker in the bean fields when Mountain City was the Green Bean Capitol of the World, keeping boarders while her young family lived in Pennsylvania, cleaning for individuals and businesses in Oregon and Tennessee, as well as the Mountain City and Trade Post Offices, operating a variety store in the Old Trade School, working at both Burlington and Leco, making and selling beautiful quilts, and was a contract mail carrier for many years. She took great joy and pride in hard work and a job well done, but the roles of which she was most proud was being a mother and grandmother.

She became a Christian at Centerview Church of Christ in Trade and was a member of First Christian Church of Mountain City for decades. She maintained a card ministry for the Joy Class at FCC until dementia stole her ability to do so.

Maxine was a voracious reader throughout most of her life. She was an avid gardener known for her beautiful yard on North Church Street. She loved every baby she ever saw, she never met a Little Debbie cake she didn’t like, and made the absolute best potato soup and cornbread that anyone has ever had.

A viewing for all immediate and extended family members will be from 11:00 to 11:30 AM on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Mountain City Funeral Home. A service led by Pastor Dwayne Dickson will be held from 11:30-12:30 with interment at Sunset Memorial Park following. Pallbearers are Marty Michael, John Hollaway, Peyton Hollaway, David Hollaway, Brenden Bohannon, and Ernest Ray.

Ralph Edison Miller, age 71, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. He was born on August 28, 1947 to the late Wade Copher Miller Sr. and Ruth Virginia Nichols Miller. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by a brother, Wade Copher Miller Jr. and first wife of 43 years and mother of his children, Linda Jackson Miller.

Ralph loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could. He worked in construction for many years and made many lifetime friends. Ralph enjoyed his television and politics, fishing and family gatherings. He also liked horses. Ralph served as Deacon at his church during his earlier years.

Ralph had two special four legged friends that he loved dearly, his dogs Coco and Ginger.
