SHADY VALLEY - Settie Main Garland, 91, of Shady Valley, TN passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017 in the Hermitage Health Care, Elizabethton, TN.

She was a lifelong resident of Shady Valley, TN and was a daughter of the late Matt and Hazel Main. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Garland; a special companion, Tom Jenkins; six brothers, Charlie, Hubert, Walter, Jake, Bob, and Maynard Main; two sisters, Blanche Mahala and Elnore Garland; and two nieces.

Settie enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She was a member of Crandull Church of Christ in Shady Valley, TN.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Fenner and her husband, Richard, of Elizabethton, TN; a granddaughter, Jennifer Godsey and her fiance, Michael Reesman, of Butler, TN; a brother, Jack Main and his wife, Mary, of Shady Valley, TN; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Judy Watson, Pat Main, Eula Sluder and all the beauty shop gang.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:45 pm Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Crandull Church of Christ in Shady Valley, TN. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 pm Sunday at the church with Mr. John Maltais, minister officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Billy Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Earl Jenkins, Paul Morrison, Glenn Miller, John Hurley, Don O'Bryan, Bill Roberts, and McGetty Greer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leonard Lewis, John Grindstaff, Stan Shoun, and Carroll Jenkins. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff at Hermitage Health Care for all the wonderful care they gave to Settie.

Buried:
Peggy Main, age 81, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born on September 9, 1940 to the late Delbert and Mary Ann Lewis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Main, and brothers, Deck Lewis, Raymond Lewis, and Lark Lewis.

Peggy loved the Lord and enjoyed reading her bible. She worked at the glove plant, Merita Bread Store and Harris Teeter for many years. Peggy also enjoyed crocheting.

Those left to cherish her memories include her son, Dale Long; daughter, Debora McNew; sisters, Carnie Duffield and Mary Ann Price; grandchildren, Amanda, Mary, Daniel, and Thomas; three great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service and burial for Peggy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday February 21, 2022 from the Phillippi Cemetery with Steven Spencer officiating.

Walter married Peggy Lewis about 1958 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Peggy was born on 9 Sep 1940 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 18 Feb 2022 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Phillippi Cemetery, Highway 421, Johnson County, Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Jack Randal Main, age 78, of Shady Valley, Tennessee, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. He was born on November 8, 1938 to the late Matt Main and Hazel Main. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brothers: Charley, Hubert, Jake, Walter, Bob, Maynard Main; sisters: Blanch Mahala, Elenore Garland and Settie Garland; nieces: Betty and Melissa.

Jack loved to joke with people and pull harmless pranks. He enjoyed being outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting for ginseng and playing horseshoes. Jack loved spending time with his family and friends especially his grandson, Dalton who he went fishing a lot with.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 49 years, Mary Main; children: Angela Main Brown and husband George and Chad Main; grandson, Dalton Evan Brown; his precious cats, Daisy and Tum; special friends: Odas Watson, Wayne Shephard and Gary Dunn and several nieces and nephews.

It was Jack's wish to be cremated and that no formal service is held. Family and friends will meet for lunch to celebrate Jack's life at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Harmon Chapel Christian Church.
