William Lish Edney, age 95, of Erwin, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Erwin Health Care Center.

Mr. Edney was a native of Unicoi County and a son of the late Robert and Nancy Edney. He was a Laborer for Clinchfield Railroad until his retirement, after thirty one years of service. Mr. Edney was a member of Erwin Pentecostal Holiness Church. He served in the United States Army. Other than his parents Lish is preceded in death by one son, David Lee "Toby" Edney, brothers, Harrison, Conley, Elmer, and V.E. Edney, and sisters, Myrtle White, Nola Hardin, and Gladys Edney.

Mr. Edney is survived by: Wife of 71 years: Mildred Gertrude Hensley Edney of Erwin; Sons: Jimmy Edney and wife, Pat of Erwin, Charles "Chuck" Edney and wife, Gloria of Raleigh, NC, Terry "Butch" Edney of Erwin, Michael Edney and wife, Kathy of Erwin; Daughters: Mary Doty of Erwin, Marie Keller of Fort Oglethorpe, GA; Numerous Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren; and Brothers: Bobby Edney of Greeneville, R.L. Edney of Erwin.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Earl Ragland will officiate. Vocal selections will be provided by Jamie Hughes. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday from 4:00 PM until service time at Valley Funeral Home.

Committal services will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at McInturff Cemetery. Those attending the committal service will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 10:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be notified by the family.

ERWIN - Jimmy L. Edney, age 72, of Erwin, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Erwin and a son of the late William Lish and Mildred Hensley Edney. Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was the Materials Control Manager at Nuclear Fuel Services in Erwin until he retired after 30+ years of service. Jimmy loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and he was loved by many friends, neighbors and family. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Pat Edney and his brother, David “Toby” Edney.

Jimmy L. Edney has left behind to cherish his memories: Son: Chad Edney and wife Tina, of Unicoi; Daughters: Diane McLaughlin and husband Joel, of Unicoi; Shirley Lane and husband Byrd, of Erwin; Melissa Donahue and husband Danny, of Whitman, MA; Granddaughters: Rachel Hendricks and husband Nate, of Erwin; Chandra Edney, of Unicoi; Grandsons: Justin Lane; Drew Edney; Chris Donahue; Greg Donahue; Brothers: Mike Edney and wife Kathy, of Erwin; Butch Edney, of Erwin; Charles “Chuck” Edney and wife Gloria, of Raleigh, NC; Sisters: Mary Doty, of Erwin; Marie Keller, of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; Great-Grandchildren: Emily Lane; Victoria Lane; Eli Hendricks; Danika Hendricks.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Jimmy L. Edney in a funeral service to be at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend James Dunn and Reverend Harold Lewis will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and continue until service time on Tuesday. A committal service will be Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the mausoleum at Evergreen Cemetery. Those who wish to attend will meet at Valley Funeral Home on Wednesday by 10:30 AM to go in procession to Evergreen Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Gouge, Chuck Edney, Ben Williams, John Hillard, Roger Banner and Larry Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Lane, Drew Edney and Eli Hendricks.

Jimmy married Nellie Linville about 1965 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee. Nellie (daughter of Dana Harmon Linville and Martha L. Peterson) was born on 17 Mar 1941 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee; died on 13 Dec 2013 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, , Unicoi County, Tennessee. UNICOI - Diane McLaughlin, age 62, Unicoi, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 8, 2021. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Pat and Jim Edney.

Diane was a Teacher at the Unicoi County Head Start Program for twelve years. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and she helped start the Thanksgiving Food Box Program. Diane enjoyed shopping trips with her family, going out to eat and she loved her furry friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Mamaw Linville, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Survivors include her husband of twenty-seven years, Joel McLaughlin; one daughter, Rachel Hendricks (Nate), Erwin; two grandchildren: Eli Hendricks and Danika Hendricks; one brother, Chad Edney (Tina), Unicoi; one sister, Shirley Lane (Byrd), Erwin; her little dog, Angel; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, July 12, 2021, at Faith Baptist Church. Pastor Todd McLaughlin and Pastor Darrell Broome will officiate the 7:00 PM funeral service. Committal will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday in the Peterson Family Cemetery.
