    GRAY - Margaret Eyvonne Shoemake Stalcup, 78, Gray, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness.

    A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Richard "Dick" & Hazel Crosswhite Shoemake. Margaret had lived most of her life in Mountain City until she moved to Gray 13 years ago to be near her daughter & family. She loved to sew, cross stitch and cook. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mountain City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband A.J. Stalcup who died June 4, 1996.

    Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law: Tracee & Richard Hyland, Gray. A Granddaughter: Hailey Johnson. A Step-Grandson: Alexander Hyland. Her Siblings: Kathleen "Kat" Thomas, Elizabethton, Harold Shoemaker & wife Brenda and Dorothy "Dot" Shoemake all of Mountain City and John Shoemake and his companion Kathy Cordell. Several Nieces & Nephews. Her grand dog "Precious" Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Daniel Nave and Rv. Dean Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City. Active Pallbearers will be: Chad Stout, Cody Stout, Glenn Rose, Lucas Stout, Dalton Brewer, Preston Rose, Brian Cardwell and Dave Hite. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Carl Johnson, Jr., Jerry Wilson, Tim Hensley, Tony Stout, George Lowe, Doug Cornett and her Mountain City friends.

    Harold Jonathan Shoemaker, age 77, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Harold was born on November 9, 1944, in Johnson County to the late Dick Shoemaker and Hazel Crosswhite Shoemaker. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Brewer; sisters, Deborah Shoemaker and Margaret Stalcup; two infant brothers, and brother, John Shoemaker.

    Harold was a God-fearing man who loved to let people know about Jesus. He was a happy man who loved his family. Harold was a very good woodworker and a very talented man. He could do anything he wanted to do. Harold had been on mission trips throughout the years and had taught Sunday School for many years. He was a United States Army Veteran. Harold was a member of Rainbow Mennonite Church where he served as a Deacon.

    Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 45 years, Brenda Shoemaker; daughter, Kim Stout (Kenneth); son, Daniel Shoemaker; grandchildren, Ginger Shoemaker, Coty Brewer, Lucas Stout (Skylar), Dalton Brewer (Katie), Savannah Shoemaker (Dillon), Keisha Shoemaker, Nathanael Wright, and Billy Shoemaker; great-grandchildren, Brianna Dunn, Stephen Dunn, Emma Dunn, Harper Stout, and Naveah Wright; sisters, Kat Carden and Dorothy Shoemaker; several nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Rainbow Mennonite Church. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Gambill to officiate. The graveside service and burial will follow from Sunset Memorial Park with Military honors accorded by Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Lucas Stout, Dalton Brewer, Kenny Stout, Mark Gladden, Josh Jones, and Ben Masters. Honorary pallbearers are all of his friends who loved and cherished his friendship.

    John (Tha Shoe) Shoemake, age 68 of Butler, TN passed away, on September 27, 2018 in his home surrounded by family and friends. John was born in Mountain City, TN on September 15th, 1950 to the late Dick Shoemake and Hazel Crosswhite Shoemake. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Margaret Stalcup and niece Debbie Shoemaker. John was retired from the United States Army, he enjoyed 4-Wheeling, woodworking, fishing and hunting.

    John is survived by Cathy Cordell of the home; Daughters: Shannon Brown and husband Terry of Butler, TN. Amie Broomhall and husband Kyle of Knoxville, TN; Son: Richard Shoemake of Jefferson, NC; Sisters: Kat Thomas of Elizabethton, TN and Dorothy Shoemake of Mountain City, TN; Brother: Harold Shoemaker of Mountain City, TN; Mother in law: Dorothy Keller of Butler, TN; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. John had a beloved dog, Gypsy. Special Friends: Junior Campbell of Butler, TN. Ray Hammonds of Mountain City, TN

    The family would also like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You!" to all the staff of Amedisys Hospice for taking such good care of John. Funeral service for John R. Shoemake will be conducted Monday, October 1st, 2018 at 3:00 pm from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Steve Dugger to officiate. Family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm prior to the service.

    Graveside service and burial will follow at the Butler Cemetery with military honors to be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers: Patrick Brown, Isaiah Brown, Terry Brown, Bo Thomas and Kyle Broomhall. Honorary Pallbearers: Junior Campbell, Ray Hammonds, and Timothy Brown.
