    Mary Evelyn Sargent, age 94, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, from Signature Health Center and Rehab of Elizabethton. Mary was born in Carter County to the late Arthur Mack Wilson and Lottie Margaret Lewis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Richard Lee (R.L.) Sargent; a daughter, Barbara Lee Wilson; two brothers, Millard Wilson and Lester Wilson; and three sons-in-law, Gary Burrow, Carl D. Hardin and Wilbur C. Banks.
    Mary retired from Raytheon Corporation, where she had worked as an inspector. She was a wonderful mother and caregiver and will be very missed by her family and friends. Mary was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Golden Group. Mary loved to read, she loved children, gardening, hummingbirds, flowers- especially red flowers. She also enjoyed riding motorcycles, ATVs, going to the beach, camping, helping people and fighting for the “underdog” and those who could not fend for themselves.
    Those left to cherish her many wonderful memories include two daughters, Shirley Ann Banks, of Unicoi, TN and Robert Jean Campbell and her husband Ed, of Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Mary Ann Hughes and husband Chris, of Unicoi, TN and Nicholas Hardin, of Elizabethton; four great-grandchildren, Courtney Vance, Kelsey Hughes, Jaelyn Hardin and Tennyson Hardin; three great-great-grandchildren, Tristan Marotto, Piper Anna Lee Vance and Addison Vance; a goddaughter, Rosalee Oaks and family; two godsons, Larry and Brenda Peters and their family and Jimmy and Barbara Peters and their family; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Rose Vaughn; and a son-in-law, Larry E. Wilson. Several nieces and nephews also survive, as well as a special friends, Natalie Stout and Norman Garland.
    A service to celebrate the life of Mary Evelyn Sargent will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Reverend Nick Colbaugh officiating. Music will be under the direction of the New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church Quartet, Reverend Kevin Laws and Joe Sargent. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday.
    The committal and entombment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2021, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Reverend Kevin Laws officiating. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Buckles, Jaelyn Hardin, Nicholas Hardin, Aaron Greer, Wes Greer, Andy Hardin, Billy Grindstaff and Chris Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Campbell, Bill Lingerfelt, Reverend Charlie Trivette, Jimmy Peters, Larry Peters and Tynneson Hardin.

    Mary married Richard L. Sargent on 10 Jun 1947 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Richard (son of John H. Ulyses Grant "Eulas" Sargent and Arline Eva Grindstaff) was born on 17 Dec 1923 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 3 Jun 2001 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.     Barbara Lee Wilson, age 62, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 13, 2014 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness.

    She was a daughter of Mary Evelyn Wilson Sargent, Elizabethton and the late Richard Lee Sargent and was born in Carter County. Mrs. Wilson was a retired LPN and worked at several area hospitals during her life. She was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and a member of the Golden Group at Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Wilson enjoyed cross-stitching, painting, working puzzle books and working ceramics. She loved cats, dogs and children.

    In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Ruby Wilson; and a brother-in-law, Carl D. Hardin.

    In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 39 years, Larry E. Wilson, of the home; two sisters, Shirley Banks and husband, Wilbur, Unicoi; Roberta Campbell and husband, Ed, Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Barbara Presnell and husband, Mike, Johnson City; two brothers-in-law, Lester Wilson and wife, Verna, North Carolina, Michael Wilson and wife, Lynn, Jonesborough; three nieces, Alisha Ferren, Mary Ann Hughes and husband, Chris, and Michelle Nichols; two nephews, Jonathan Presnell and Nicholas Hardin; three great nieces, Courtney Hughes, Kelsey Hughes and Harper Ferren; four great-nephews, Deacon Ferren, Jaelyn Hardin, Tynnesson Hardin, Sage Nichols; and a special friend, Donna.

    The Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, December 15, 2014 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Reverend Ray Colbaugh and Reverend Nick Colbaugh officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mike Presnell. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, prior to the funeral service in the chapel or at the residence of the mother, Mary Evelyn Sargent.

    The graveside service and internment will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 16th at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Ed Campbell, Nicholas Hardin, Jonathan Presnell, Mike Presnell and other selected family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilbur Banks, Paul Pierce, Larry Peters, Billy Grindstaff and Jimmy Peters.
