    Notes:

    Eugene Heaton, 82, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at The Waters of Roan Highlands. He was the son of the late Jess Davis and Oma Bailey and was born in Carter County on November 2, 1936. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lela Lyons Heaton, in 2012, as well as one brother, James Bailey, and one sister, Pat Blevins.
    Mr. Heaton was a United States Veteran, having served in both the Army and then the Air Force. He retired from Fingerhut and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Roan Mountain where he served as a former deacon and served on the bus ministry in his younger years. He enjoyed attending church and being around family and friends.
    Those left to cherish his wonderful memory include his son, Doug Heaton, of the home; two sisters, Vicky Barnett and husband, Rob, of Troutdale, Va., and Betty Glasgow and husband, Neil, of Johnson City; one brother, Norman Davis and wife, Wanda, of Elizabethton; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Owens of North Carolina and Linda Gouge of Erwin; and one brother-in-law, Earl Lyons of Roan Mountain.
    A service to honor and celebrate the life of Eugene Heaton will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Victory Baptist Church, 7241 US-19E, Roan Mountain, with Reverend Jerry Honeycutt and Reverend Tull Oaks officiating. Music will be under the direction of Victory Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 3 p.m. Thursday or at the residence at other times. The graveside service will follow the funeral service at the Perry Family Cemetery on Shell Creek. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
