Cecil B. Edwards, age 86, of Johnson City, TN passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 in Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton.

A native of Unicoi County, TN, he was the son of the late Roscoe Raymond and Dulla Zenia Crain Edwards.

He retired from the U.S. Forestry Service working with the Senior Crew. He was also a former employee of Empire Furniture and had worked many years in the sawmill business. He grew up in the Higgins Chapel Baptist Church in the Flag Pond Community of Unicoi. Mr. Edwards enjoyed farming and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Ruth Stout Edwards; a daughter, Donna Campbell; a sister, Zetta Carter and three brothers, David Edwards, Vestil Edwards and Jerry Edwards.

Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Kathy Renfro and husband Steve, Johnson City; six granddaughters, Amy Kuntz and husband Mike, Rebecca Patsel and husband Tim, Katherine Renfro and companion Jason, Stephanie Renfro, Tracey Myers and husband Daniel and Hope Renfro; one grandson, Stephen Renfro II; four great-granddaughters; seven great-grandsons and six great-great-grandchildren; a sister Zelda Lingerfelt and husband Lawrence; a son-in-law, Mitch Campbell and two sisters-in-law, Bertha Edwards and Evelyn Edwards. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor the life of Cecil B. Edwards will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 22, 2018 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Danny Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. on Thursday prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the Higgins Creek Cemetery in the Flag Pond Community of Unicoi. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Kuntz, Tim Patsel, Norman Edwards, and Jason Davis.

Zetta Mae Edwards Carter, age 81, resident of U.C.M.H. Long Term Care Facility formerly of 108 Old Asheville Highway, Erwin, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care. She was a native of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Roscoe R. and Dullie L. Crain Edwards. Zetta was a loving homemaker. She was a member of Higgins Chapel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bryan E. Carter; step-son, Frankie N. Carter; brothers, John David Edwards and wife, Lou Fender Edwards, and Vestil C. Edwards, and Jerry R. Edwards; sisters-in-law, Nina Ruth Stout Edwards; niece, Brenda Kay Edwards; nephews, James Donald Edwards, Anthony T. Edwards, and Larry Edwards.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Zetta Mae Edwards Carter in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM, Friday, April 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Edward Hoyle will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by the Higgins Chapel Baptist Church. A visitation period to share memoires and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and continue until service time on Friday at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Higgins Chapel Cemetery. Those who wish to attend will meet at 10:30 AM, Saturday at Valley Funeral Home to go in procession to the cemetery. ERWIN - Zelda Cole Lingerfelt, age 80, of Erwin, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Erwin, Zelda is a daughter of the late Roscoe and Dullie (Crain) Edwards. She was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church where she was the Assistant Pianist, assisted with Vacation Bible School and taught Sunday School. She loved her flowers and gardening, singing and cooking. In addition to her parents, Zelda is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Kermit Buster Cole; one sister, Zetta Carter; and four brothers: Jerry Edwards, Vestil Edwards, David Edwards and Cecil Edwards.

Zelda Cole Lingerfelt has left behind to cherish her memory: daughter, Cynthia Denise Hollett and husband, Todd; son, Kermit Dale Cole and wife, JoAnn; step-son, Nicholas Lingerfelt and wife, Ashleigh; step-daughters: Sherri Lingerfelt (Lori) and Shellie Lingerfelt; grandsons: Nicholas Charles Banks, Tyler Dale Cole and Benjamin Cole Banks; granddaughters: Kendall Lingerfelt and Rory Lingerfelt; Several nieces and nephews.
