Jody Price, 94, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2019, in Tucson, Ariz. She was the youngest child of Joel Carriger Crumley and Mary Ada Larkin Crumley. She was predeceased in 2012 by her husband of 60 years, FBI Special Agent James W. Price.
Jody grew up in Elizabethton and attended ETSU. Upon graduation, she worked for the TVA for five years. In 1951, she married Jim Price whom she'd known for many years. Marrying an FBI agent meant a life of transfers and moves. They first lived in Texas and then Indianapolis, Ind., where their three daughters were born. Then they were transferred to Chicago and finally to El Centro, Calif., a small office out of the San Diego Field Office. Jim retired from the Bureau in 1975.
The family stayed busy traveling throughout California and Baja, Mexico, and taking summer road trips back to Elizabethton. As their girls grew up and moved away, Jody and Jim lived in Yuma, Ariz., and Henderson, Nev., before moving to Tucson in 2007.
Jody was well known as an excellent cook and hostess as well as an accomplished pianist and seamstress. No matter where they lived, Jody made a house a home. She also assisted Jim in building a beach house in Baja which the family enjoyed for many years. She never lost her soft southern accent and was always proud of her East Tennessee heritage.
Jody is survived by her three daughters, Patty Marko and Susan Carr of Santa Fe, N.M., and Terry Burden of Tucson, Ariz. She is also survived by her niece, Nancy Crumley of Elizabethton. She has two grandsons, James and Travis Price.
A small family gathering will be held when she is interred with her husband at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
