    JOHNSON CITY - Julia Elaine Woodby, 70, Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at her home, following courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

    Julia was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. She was the only child of the late Carl E. and Sarah Pearl Peters Woodby.

    Julia was a resident of the Dawn of Hope homes since 2009, and was very much loved by the staff and residents of the other homes.

    She was a member of First Christian Church, Johnson City, and attended the Drive-In Church at University Parkway Baptist Church, Johnson City.

    Her talents included jewelry making, crafts, latch hooking, and she loved cats of any kind, and had quite the collection of toy cats.

    In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by a special uncle, Howard Peters.

    She is survived by several cousins, as well as a special housemate Kathy, former housemate Tammy, and very special friends Randy and Shannon.

    The family wishes to thank the following staff at Dawn of Hope, C.O.O., Residential Director, the Chief Medical Officer, the lead staff and especially the direct support professionals, Becky and Janice, and all the others who worked with Julia through the years. They would also like to extend a very special thanks to Caris Healthcare for their help and support in the final days of her life.

    The graveside funeral service will be held Friday, June 9, 2023, at 2:00 P.M., in Oak Hill Cemetery, 205 Whitney St., Johnson City, TN 37604, with Pastor Scott Thompson and his wife Kathy will be in charge of the service and music.
