    ELIZABETHTON - Margie M. Ashley, age 91, of Elizabethton, has gone home to be with her Lord. She left her earthly home on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from the Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Margie was born on August 22, 1925 to the late James Taylor Montgomery and Martha Viola Harmon Montgomery. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, John A. Ashley in 2007; six brothers, John Rex Montgomery, George "Champ" Montgomery, Willard Montgomery, Albert Montgomery, David Montgomery and Glenn Montgomery; and four sisters, Stela Frances Fox, Lillian Nunley, Laura Alona Williams and Marie Montgomery.

    Margie retired from North American Rayon Corporation, after 33 years of service and was a member of Highpoint Baptist Church.

    Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Johnny Ashley and wife Judy, of Elizabethton; a daughter, Helen A. Nave and husband Joe, of Elizabethton; two granddaughters, Tammy Ashley, of Elizabethton and Patty Jo Singleton and husband Tracy, of Roan Mountain; three great grandchildren, Patricia Singleton, Jacob Singleton and Nico Ashley; one brother, Raymond Montgomery, of Roan Mountain; and one sister, Vera Lou Lowe and husband Jim, of Jonesborough.

    A service to honor the life of Mrs. Margie M. Ashley will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 28, 2016 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Randy Johnson and Rev. Joel Cook, officiating. Music will be provided by Loren Harris. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday; or at the residence at any time.

    The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Tracy Singleton, Jacob Singleton, Nico Ashley, and others selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Montgomery, Earnest Montgomery, Jim Lowe, Kenneth Taylor and Norman Ashley.

    ROAN MOUNTAIN - Raymond Stewart Montgomery, age 86, of Roan Mountain, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from the Johnson City Medical Center.

    Raymond was born in Carter County to the late Taylor and Viola Harmon Montgomery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Banner Montgomery; his brothers, John Rex Montgomery, George "Champ" Montgomery, Willard Montgomery and Glenn Montgomery; and four sisters, Stella Frances Fox, Lillian Nunley, Laura Alona Williams and Margie M. Ashley.

    Raymond was a man who loved his God, country and family. Raymond was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church in Elizabethton. He retired from the United States Army after 22 years of service to his country – serving in Korea and the Vietnam and continued his dedication to his country by working at the Veterans Administration. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing and camping.

    Those left to cherish his legacy include his daughter, Ramona Bing and husband Tim, of Ohio; two sons, Fernando Montgomery and wife Debbie, of Hampton and Eugene Montgomery, of PA; his foster daughter, Elaine Gregg Stamper and husband Harvey, of NC; three grandchildren, Nathan Montgomery, of Hampton, Renee Green and husband Richard, of Valley Forge and Beth Vargo and husband William, of Ohio; three great grandchildren; one sister, Vera Lou Lowe and husband Jim. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    A service to celebrate and honor the life of Raymond Stewart Montgomery will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 18, 2019 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Mark Fowler, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday.

    The graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Monday, August 19, 2019 in the Walnut Mountain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Arnold and Bob Johnson.

    JONESBOROUGH - Mrs. Vera Montgomery Lowe, of Jonesborough, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2021, under the care of Ballad Hospice.
    Born to the late James Taylor Montgomery and Martha Viola Harmon Montgomery in Roan Mountain, TN, Vera graduated class valedictorian of Cloudland High School in 1955.
    Vera had lived her life in both Tennessee and Florida, where she loved teaching Sunday school. She was a warm person with a heart that loved children. Vera was also a skilled painter and accomplished quilter. Known for her love of cooking, Vera enjoyed preparing meals for guests and as gifts for those in need of a home-cooked meal.
    In addition to her parents, Vera is preceded in death by seven brothers: John Ray Montgomery, James W. Montgomery, Elbert E. Montgomery, David A. Montgomery, Glen E. Montgomery, George W. Montgomery (Champ), Raymond Montgomery; five sisters: Lillian Montgomery Nunley, Marie Montgomery, Stella Montgomery Fox, Laura Montgomery Berry Williams, Margie Montgomery Ashley; one infant daughter, Melinda Dawn Eller.
    Survivors include her husband James Lawson Lowe of Jonesborough; son Larry M. Eller (Rhonda) Jacksonville, FL; two stepsons: James L. Lowe, Jr. (Kim) Jonesborough, TN, John A. Lowe (Sue Ellen) Gray, TN; six grandchildren: Ashley Lowe Adams (Anthony) Jonesborough, Brandon Putnam, Jacksonville, FL, Kenny Eller (Rachel) Jacksonville, FL, John David Lowe, Emma Caroline Lowe, Sarah Katherine Lowe, Gray, TN; great-grandchildren: Ivie Putnam, Ellie Elizabeth Eller, Timothy Eller, all of Jacksonville, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.
    The family of Vera Montgomery Lowe will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM Thursday, October 28, 2021 in the Tetrick Funeral Services Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM with Pastor Joel Cook and Dr. Mark Harrod officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 2:00 PM at Mountain Home National Cemetery.

    ELIZABETHTON - Lynn Montgomery, age 75, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Lynn was born in Roan Mountain, Tennessee to the late George “Champ” Montgomery and Anna Mae Heaton Montgomery. In addition to his parents, Lynn was also preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Montgomery and an infant brother, James Roscoe Montgomery.

    Lynn was a retiree of Kennametal Industries where he worked as a mechanic. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam Era. Lynn was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church and enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, farming and using his tractor, but spending time with his family was the most important part of his life.

    Those left to remember and cherish Lynn’s memory include his wife of 54 years, Betty (Jenkins) Montgomery of the home; his son, Jeff (Margaret) Montgomery of Johnson City; his daughter, Tina (David) Whitehead of Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Whitney (Logan) Buckles and Josh Hyatt; one great grandson, Luke Buckles; one sister, Marie Moody of Blowing Rock, NC; a sister-in-law, Jean Montgomery of Elizabethton and a special sister-in-law, Nell Jenkins also of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    A time for friends to sign the guest register book and pay their respects will be conducted from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM on Thursday, April 6, 2023 and from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton.

    A graveside service to honor and celebrate Lynn’s life will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section) with Reverend Mark Fowler officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Montgomery, David Whitehead, Logan Buckles, David Harrison, Shannon Burchett, Scott Montgomery and Andy Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Holdren, Larry Vaughn, Doc Isaacs, Don Williams and Roger Pack.

    Larry Mack Daryl Eller, 78, Elizabethton passed away Friday August 19, 2011 at his residence.
    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Stanley and Vada Norris Eller. Larry was a 1950 graduate of Happy Valley High School. He was a retired employee of Fleming Food, Johnson City. He was of the Baptist Faith. Larry served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Carter County Hunting and Fishing Club, Dashiell Masonic Lodge # 238 and the American Legion Post 49.
    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter: Belinda Eller, Two Sisters: Gladys Meredith and Belva Lee Cox.
    Survivors include his wife of 26 years: Lola Henley Eller, Three Daughters: Phyllis Wheatley, Glenda Davis and husband Glenn and Claudia Cooper all of Greenville, Tenn. Three Sons: Larry Eller II, Jacksonville, Florida, Mark S. Eller, Columbia, South Carolina, and David Banner and wife Tracy, Massapequa, New York. Two Granddaughters: Megan Eller and Morgan Eller. One Grandson: Kenny Eller. One Great Granddaughter: Karissa.
    Graveside Service and Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Happy Valley Memorial Park.
    Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion & Tennessee National Guard.
