Gladys "Gerry" Stout, 74, of Butler (Poga Community), passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017, at her residence. Gerry was born in Avery County, N.C., to the late William and Ora Trivette Estep. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mattison E. Stout; one son, David T. Stout; and several brothers and sisters.
Gerry was a homemaker and a member of Stout Hill Church of Christ. She loved to cook, bake and decorate cakes, gardening and spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three sons, Michael Stout and wife Melinda, of Michigan, Greg Stout and wife Karen, of the Poga Community of Butler, and Mattison "Scooter" Stout and fiancée Sarah Gentry, of Butler; two daughters, Sharon Stout and Claude Banner, of Butler, and Tammie Ferguson and husband Kevin, of Butler; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly Anderson and husband Michael, Mikey Stout, Robert Stout, Sarah Poss and husband Justin, Kaylee Stout, Josh Stout, Savannah Stout, Alexis Christian, Rusty Christian, Natasha Schoffner and Aislinn Ferguson; two great-grandchildren, Michael Anderson Jr. and her special great-grandson, Jace Stout; one brother, Ronald Estep and wife Roberta, of New York; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Gladys "Gerry" Stout will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28, at Stout Hill Church of Christ with Mr. Donnie Cable, minister, officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir. The family will receive friends at the church anytime on Friday, January 27, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will follow in the Stout Hill Cemetery, Butler (Poga Community). Active pallbearers will be Jessie Cable, Ellis Cable, Dale Cable, Lloyd Cable, Gary Cable and Brad Dugger. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Jacobs, J.P. "Junior" Clawson, Josh Stout and Robert Stout.

Mattison (son of David Washington Stout and Ida Fay Andes) was born on 19 Mar 1932 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 14 Feb 2002 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Stout Hill Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee. Thomas "Joe" Estep, age 62, formerly of Hudson, NC, passed away Monday, March 26, 2007 in Camelot Manor Nursing Facility, Granite Falls, NC following an extended illness. He was a native of Avery County, NC and a son of the late Will and Ora Trivette Estep. Mr. Estep had attended Beech Mountain Baptist Church. He was formerly employed in furniture manufacturing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Rosie Greene, Marie Mitchell and Margaret Estep and one brother, William Creed Estep. Survivors are his wife, Shirley Ollis Estep, Hudson, NC, one daughter, Kimberly Estep, Lenoir, NC, one grandson, Christopher Estep, one granddaughter, Katie Carty, both of Lenoir, NC, four sisters and one brother-in-law, Jean and Herman Guy, Hudson, NC, Gerry Stout, Butler, TN, Ruth Ollinger, Johnson City, TN, Anna Lee Driscoll, Manchester, MI, and three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ronald and Roberta Estep, Barker, NY, Jim and Denise Estep ,KY. And Barney Trivette, Johnson City, Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Estep will be conducted on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Dean Estep, Minister, officiating. Interment will follow in McGuire Cemetery, Elk Park, NC. Active pallbearers will be chosen from Family and friends. The Family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12:00 - 2:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the home of his sister, Gerry Stout, 405 Poga Rd., Butler, TN

Ben Allen Greene, age 74, of Stoney Hollow Road, Elk Park, passed away Thursday afternoon, Nov. 21, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn.

Ben was born Sept. 1, 1945, in Avery County, a son of the late Geter and Rosa Estep Greene. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of Flat Springs Baptist Church. He loved his Lord and Savior and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially the biggest blessing of his life, his great-grandchildren. He also had many friends too numerous to mention.

He is survived by his Wife: Jackie Greene of the home; one Daughter: Angela Abrams and husband Stephen of Kitty Hawk, NC; one Son: Brandon Lambert of Atlanta, Ga.; two Granddaughters, whom he raised: Ashley Bunten and husband Josh and Sarah Isaacs, all of Elk Park; one Son-in-law: Chad Isaacs of Vilas; three Grandsons: Nicholas Dugger of Butler, Tenn., Benjamin Abrams, and Dylan Abrams, both of Kitty Hawk; four Great-granddaughters: Harley Potter, Jada Mae Isaacs, Kimberly Bunten, and Adeline Bunten; two Great-grandsons: Landon Bunten and Titus Isaacs; three Sisters: Ruth Harmon and husband Ken of Sugar Grove, and Blanche Williams of Butler, Tenn., Kay Ward and husband Dennis of Elk Park; one Sister-in-law: Joyce Dugger of Butler, Tenn.; one Brother-in-law: Elbert Ward of Elk Park; one Son-in-law: Barry Oliver of Sugar Grove and one Uncle, Ronald Estep of Buffalo, NY.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one beloved Daughter: Kimberly Greene Oliver; a Brother and Sister-in-law: Reed Greene and his wife Edith; a Sister: Sally Ward; two Brothers-in-law: James Williams and Edward Lambert, and a Niece: Deanna Hicks.

Funeral services for Ben Allen Greene were conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body lay in state at the chapel, from 10 to 11 a.m. Officiating was Pastor Derrick Wilson and Pastor Dean Estep. Burial followed in the Abe Trivette Cemetery in Butler, Tenn.

Gregory Lynn Stout, 55, of the Poga Community of Butler, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at his residence. Gregory was born June 9, 1963 in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Mattison Elwood Stout and Gladys Estep Stout. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Stout.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Karen Stout, of Michigan; his daughter, Savannah Stout; a brother, Michael Stout, of Michigan; two sisters, Sharon Stout and Tammie Stout, both of Butler, Tenn.; and five stepchildren.
