    DANIEL BROWN VANHUSS
    Funeral of Daniel Brown Vanhuss, 52, who died in Duke Hospital, Durham, N.C. Friday at 1:00 a.m. after an illness of six weeks, will be held at the Valley Forge Church of Christ today at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. K. W. Baldwin, assisted by the Rev. J. J. Musick will officiate.
    Mr. Vanhuss was returned to the home on Route 1, Elizabethton Saturday at 11:00 a.m. It will remain there until 2:00 o'clock this afternoon when it will be taken to the church to lie in state until time for the services. The Roy Hathaway Funeral Home is in charge.
    The church choir will be in charge of the music at the funeral. Burial will be in Happy Valley Memorial Park after military honors are accorded by the Watauga Post No. 49 of the American Legion and the Capt. Lynn H. Folsom Post No. 2168, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
    Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Eliza Garrison Vanhuss; three daughters, Mrs. Jane McInturff, and Misses Hazel and Margaret Vanhuss; five sons, John F., H. F., K. S., Haskel, and Harold Vanhuss; his mother, Mrs. John F. Vanhuss; three sisters, Mrs. Haskel Felty, Mrs. Leon Cardwell, and Mrs. W. M. Myers; six brothers, Bob, Bowman, Ray, Crawford, Cecil and Walter Vanhuss; one granddaughter, Peggy Jean McInturff, and two grandsons, John and Walter Vanhuss. All are residents of Carter County.
    Active pallbearers are: Carl and Clate Williams, Arthur Treadway, Raymond Nave, Carl Shepherd, Clarence Gouge, Dale Moody, and Harlow Crosswhite.

    Mrs. Laura Florence VanHuss Blevins, age 91, of Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011, in the Appalachian Christian Village.

    Mrs. Blevins was a native of Carter County who had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was the daughter of the late Brown VanHuss and Eliza Garrison VanHuss. In addition to her parents, her husband, James W. Blevins; three brothers, Ford VanHuss, John VanHuss Sr. and Haskiel VanHuss; one sister, Mary Bell VanHuss; two nephews, John VanHuss Jr. and Glen Doherty; one niece, Gail Marion Wilson; also preceded her in death.

    Mrs. Blevins retired from Thomas Industries. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Johnson City, where she was a member of the Mr. And Mrs. Class.

    Survivors include: one daughter, Peggy Jean Tester, of Johnson City; two sisters, Margaret Doherty, of Roanoke, Virginia, and Hazel Marion, of Elizabethton; two brothers, Dick VanHuss and wife, Martha, and Harold VanHuss, both of Elizabethton; one grandson, Jerry Tester, of Johnson City; one great granddaughter, Rebecca Tester, of Chattanooga; one great great grandson, Zachary, of Chattanooga; two sister-in-laws, Louise Downs, of Johnson City, and Helen VanHuss of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews.

    The funeral service for Mrs. Laura Florence VanHuss Blevins will be conducted at 2 PM Saturday, May 7, 2011, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Steve Hill, Minister, will officiate.

    The graveside committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jeff VanHuss, Danny Doherty, Walter VanHuss, Blair Campbell, Ronald Tester and Matt Campbell.

    GRAY - Laura Elaine Spears, 53, passed away at her home in Gray, Tennessee, with her loved ones by her side on Wednesday afternoon, March 4, 2020.

    Laura was born on February 16, 1967, in Johnson City, Tennessee, to her father, Harold VanHuss, and her mother, the late Norma Sue Fritz VanHuss.

    Laura was a native of Gray, Tennessee, and she lived there all her life. She was a Baptist and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Gray, Tennessee.

    In addition to her father those left to cherish Laura’s memory are her loving husband Randy Spears; four daughters, Patricia Byrd, Cameron VanHuss, Stephanie VanHuss, and Ashley Harrell & husband Aaron; two sons, David Tucker and Davey Spears and wife Anabelle; five grandchildren, Kaylyn, Nicole, Anneliese, Alaina, and Khloe.

    The Receiving of Friends and Family is scheduled at Snyder’s Memorial Gardens on Saturday, March 7, 2020, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. A Memorial Service to honor Laura’s life will follow the Receiving service and will begin at 3:00 PM, officiating the service will be David Spears.
