    Notes:

    Mr. A C "Bud" Cress, 79, of Johnson City, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at NHC HealthCare in Johnson City.

    Mr. Cress was a Johnson County native and the son of the late Clyde and Dorothy Payne Cress.

    He was preceded in death by sons, Mark and Michael; and a brother, Allen Cress.

    Mr. Cress retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant in 1974. His overseas assignments were Germany, India, and Vietnam. He received three meritorious service medals, six commendation medals, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, five good conduct medals, and numerous other awards.

    He also retired from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in 1995, where he worked in the engineering service as an accountant.

    Mr. Cress was of the Baptist faith.

    He is survived by: his wife of 33 years, JoAnn Snapp Cress; daughter, Cathy Cress Moore of Shreveport, LA; three sisters, Margie Halsey and Elsie Parsons of Hickory, NC and Paulette Morefield of Mountain City; mother-in-law, Lurlia Snapp; brothers-in-law, Wendell Snapp and Mike Snapp; special nieces, Christie Snapp Pohto, Shelley Snapp Mannering, and Lauren Snapp Waddill, all of Johnson City; niece, Donna Lipford of Concord, NC; and nephews, David Snapp, Daniel Snapp, Jack Pohto, and Andrew Clawson.

    The Cress family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2015, in Morris-Baker Funeral Home.

    Following the visitation, family and friends will proceed to Mountain Home National Cemetery for a 1 p.m. graveside service. Rev. Donald Page will officiate. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The Boone Dam Post # 4933 will accord military honors.
