    Hazel Sutphin Hrush, 97, of Dunn, North Carolina passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the Seniors Citizens Village, Dunn, NC.

    She was a native of Erwin, Tennessee and a daughter of the late Eugene and Sarah Sutphin. Mrs. Hrush was retired from the Internal Revenue Service, where she had worked for 41 years. She was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Alexander Hrush, her twin sister, Helen Saylor, sisters, Edna Taylor and Alma Cates, two brothers, Gene Sutphin and Jessee Sutphin and her half-brothers, Charlie, and Howard Sutphin.

    Survivors include her daughter, Carol Simms and her husband, Charles of Ellicott City, MD; her son, Donald Allen Hrush of North Carolina and his wife Betty, four grandchildren, Charles W. Simms II, Julie Ann Day, Jeff Hrush and Kimberly McIntyre; two great grandchildren Brody Day and Leigha Simms, and also several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special cousin, Richard Sutphin.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Hrush will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, July 6, 2018 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Shane Watters officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in the Peoples Cemetery, Unicoi.

    The family would like to give special thanks to Yvette, and the entire staff of the Senior Citizens Village of Dunn, NC, for the wonderful care, love and compassion they provided to Mrs. Hrush
