    ELIZABETHTON - Bert Velma Lowe Elliott, 92, Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016, in the Johnson City Medical Center.

    Born March 17, 1924, in Johnson County, to the late William & Doxie Fritts Lowe. She had lived in Elizabethton for 70 years. Bert was a retired Supervision with the Raytheon Corporation, Bristol. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, June Angel, and Blanche Walton; and four brothers, Foy, Brooks, Chase and Lon Lowe.

    Her hobbies were cooking, making Jelly and gardening. She was a very generous person.

    Survivors include her husband of 74 years, Howard Elliott; her daughter & son-in-law, Jean & Leonard Peters of Elizabethton; her grandson and his wife, Steve & Terri Peters, Chicago; three great grandchildren, Trent, Tatum and Tanner all of Chicago; three sisters, Dorothy Peters, Nell Cates and husband Carl and Alean Cooper and husband Don all of Elizabethton; several nieces & nephews; her very special friend at Hermitage Health Center, Eula Jones; and her cat, Peepers.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Owens and Rev. Travis Tyler officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by David Arney.

    Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:50 a.m. on Tuesday, will be: Mike Lowe, Carl Taylor, Jeff Cates, Keith Davenport, Doug Bailey, Gary Leonard, Jimmy Lowe and Bob Elliott. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Greg Cates, Harol Smith, David Ferguson, Don Cooper, Mitchell "Butch" Peters, Carl Cates and Norman Greer. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home.

    Dorothy Lowe Peters, 92, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Hermitage Health Center following an extended illness. She was born February 3, 1929 in Johnson County, to the late William A. and Doxie Fritts Lowe. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton.
    Dorothy retired from Watson’s Department Store. Prior to that she was employed at Parks-Belk and Burgie Drug Store. She was the last Charter Member of Unaka Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for several years. She loved flowers and gardening.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Peters, who passed away April 24, 2005; a son, Mitchell “Butch” Peters, who passed away April 24, 2021; three sisters, June Angel, Blanche Walton and Bert Elliott; and four brothers, Foy, Brooks, Chase and Lon Lowe.
    Survivors include a grandson, Richard Wayne Peters; two great-grandsons, Brent and Jordan Peters; two sisters, Nell Lowe Cates and Alean Lowe Cooper; her special friends, Ronnie and Loretta Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Walker Roberson officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family.

    Dorothy married Hubert W. Peters on 9 Aug 1946 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Hubert (son of William Charles Peters and Bertha B. Hardin) was born about 1918 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 24 Apr 2005 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    ELIZABETHTON - Alean Lowe Cooper, 84, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in the Hermitage Health Care after an extended illness. She was born April 13, 1938 in Johnson County to the late William & Doxie Fritts Lowe. She was a graduate of Johnson County High School and East Tennessee State University. She received a Masters Degree in Early Child Hood Education in Georgia. Alean was a retired School Teacher having taught the 3rd grade at Oakcliff Elementary School in Doraville, Georgia. She was selected Teacher of the year in 1981 from Dekalb County, Georgia. She had lived in Elizabethton for a number of years. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Elizabethton. Alean loved bowling, shopping and animals. She was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.

    Survivors include her husband: Donald Cooper. One Sister: Nell Cates of Elizabethton, several nieces & nephews including a special niece Jean Peters and her husband Leonard of Elizabethton. Two Step-Sons: Randy Cooper, Hilton Head, South Carolina and Van Cooper, Johnson City. Three Grandchildren and Two Great Grandchildren.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2022 in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Dean Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Faith. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
