The name of Perlina is spelled differently is almost every civil record concerning her. The spelling P E R L I N A will be used for this record. This comes from the records of Jackie and Dawn Peters of Elizabethton, TN. Jackie is a descendant of the Oliver family of Northeastern Tennessee, as is Perlina. According to Jackie's records, Perlina's parents were George R. Oliver and Susannah White. His GEDCOM has been imported to show the ancestry of Perlina. The records of Albert Grindstaff, Independence, Missouri, also lists this same lineage. Census records indicate that Perlina's DOB was between 1820 and 1830; it was probably 1825 as shown on the 1850 and 1900 censuses. The 1870 Carter County Census shows a son born in about 1862 named Nathaniel. He is not listed in any following civil records. The 1880 census lists a daughter named Nellia born in about 1861. In the 'Carter County, Tennessee Marriage Records, 1796-1870', an abstract by Goldene Fillers Burgner, the following marriage record is listed: DeLoach, Nettie to W.M. Scalf 24 December 1885 Dawn Peters has seen this record and believes the nameshould be Nellie. In the 1910 Carter County census, there is the following enrty: Scalf William 50 Nellie 45 W.C. 19 Bertha 17 In the Carter County Death Records is a listing for Nettie Scalf, born 1865, died 12 November 1934. Parents were Thomas DeLoach and Perlina Oliver. Based upon the above, I conclude that the 1870 census is erroneous in listing Nathaniel as a son. The given name for this child may have been Nathanielle, with a nickname of Nellie or Nellia. This is the way that the child of Thomas DeLoach and Perlina Oliver who was born in about 1862 will be carried in this record.

Mrs. Nettie Scalf, age 63, wife of William Scalf, died at her home on the Charity Hill road Monday evening at 7 p.m., after a short illness. Death was caused by an attack of asthma. She was a life long member of the Baptist church.
Survivors are her husband; one son, Cameron Scalf, and one daughter, Bertie.
Funeral services will be conducted from the residence, Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Hamp Hopkins officiating.
Interment will be in the Hyder Cemetery.

1917 October 27, William Delauch dies in Dickenson CO, VA. According to Orbie Deloach this was an explosion. According to information provided by Agnes Williams a daughter of J. E. Sutherland, William Deloach operated the steam generator in the Clintwood Light and Power Company that was founded in 1915. The power plant was located in Clintwood in Powerhouse Hollow. At the time of the explosion William was living in the home of Jarvey Anderson, with his wife Nancy and his son Lonenzy. On the day of the explosion Nancy and son Lonenzy brought supper to William. While they we there, the steam generator exploded killing all three. On 8 February 2003, I again checked the Virginia State Index for Deaths Reel 3.1 for the period 1915 – 1917. I did verify the death of William Delauch on 27 October 1917, but I did not find the deaths of either Nancy or Lonenzy Anderson. On 16 August 2005, I received the death certificate for William Delauch. He was burned to death by steam when a boiler exploded. His brother Jesse was the informant who also stated he was married. His birth date is listed a 5 February 1882 – which is wrong based on the 1880 US Census data. On 4 November 2005, I checked with the Clintwood Town Hall, Mayor Donald Baker, and there is no record of William being buried in the cemetery. The Mayor explained to me that when the town took over the Phipps Cemetery in 1982 there were no records of who was buried in the cemetery. The town asked for the town folk to come and provide information of who was buried in the cemetery. The Mayor also explained that Powerhouse Hollow is near Jesse Street near the Chevrolet Dealership. John Mullins owned the power plant.

JOHN DeLOACH
John DeLoach, 56, a veteran of World War I, died at the Mountain Home veterans' facility Friday at 2:15 a.m. after a brief illness. Mr. DeLoach served in France from August 20, 1918 to March 11, 1919.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Abbie Stout DeLoach; two sons, Walter and James DeLoach, all of Valley Forge; and two daughters, Mrs. Laura Colbough also of Valley Forge; and Mrs. Lena Nave of Elizabethton; three brothers, Bill DeLoach of Gap Creek, Nat and Mack DeLoach of Butler; and one sisters, Mrs. Joe Adams, of Butler; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Free Will Baptist Church of Valley Forge with the Rev. Farrell Sparks and the Rev. R. S. Stockton officiating. The body will be buried with military honors at the National Cemetery in Johnson City.

Funeral services for John DeLoach, 56, of Valley Forge, who died in the Veterans Administration Hospital at Mountain Home Friday at 2:15 a.m., will be conducted from the Free Will Baptist Church of Valley Forge at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Farrell Sparks and the Rev. R. S. Stockton officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Paul Headrick, Ed Hathaway, Earl Arney, Hugh Jenkins, James DeLoach, Clate Trivett, and John Montgomery.
Flower bearers will be selected at the services.
Following the services at the church the body will be taken to Mountain Home for burial. Full military honors will be rendered at the cemetery.
Mr. DeLoach was a member of the American Legion and a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Abbie Stout DeLoach; two sons, James and Walter DeLoach of Valley Forge; two daughters, Mrs. Calvin Colbaugh of Valley Forge and Mrs. Roy L. Nave of Elizabethton; three brothers, Mike and Nat DeLoach of Butler; and Bill DeLoach of Gap Creek; one sister, Mrs. Joe Adams of Butler and five grandchildren.
The body was moved to the home Saturday afternoon where it will remain until 11:30 a. m. Monday when it will be moved to the church to lie in state until the funeral hour.

Myrtle M. Crow, age 103, 400 N. Boone St., Johnson City, died Wednesday, August 8, 2007, in Asbury Place at Johnson City following a brief illness.

She was a Carter County native and a daughter of the late John Tipton and Mattie Deloach Roberson. Mrs. Crow was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and the Senior Citizens Center of Elizabethton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Crow; two daughters, Joan Crow, Louise Hamby; one son, E.J. Crow; three brothers, Clyde, Mose and Floyd Roberson; and three sisters, Laura Garrison, Lena Kaigler and Ruby Bare.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Nannie Burton, Roberta and Delmer Lowe, all of Johnson City, Peggy and Terry McLemore, Cleveland, OH; twenty-one grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hazel Roberson, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Crow will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, August 10, in the Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel with Rev. Jerry Lyons officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel prior to the service.

The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 11, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Saturday. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.

Mrs. Stevens was the widow of Clarence Luther Stevens.

She is survived by three daughters, JoAnn Hyer of Warren, Ohio, Shirley Greene and her husband, Carroll, of Clinton and Wilma Nichols and her husband, Philip, of Knoxville; and three sons, Donald Stevens and his wife, Dean, of Rockwood, Ralph Stevens and his wife, Brenda, of Clinton and Michael Stevens and his wife, Eleanor, of Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Stevens is also survived by her brother, Maynard Bowers of Hampton, Tenn.; her sister, Pauline Comer of West Newton, Pa.; and by 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, two other sons, C.L. Stevens Jr. and Richard Lee Stevens, died earlier.

Mrs. Deloach was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late E.T. "Doc" and Arwilda Williams Deloach. She was also preceded in death by a son, Johnny Whitehead, in 1998, three sisters, four brothers and a great-grandson.

Mrs. Deloach attended Friendship Free Will Baptist Church of Hampton. She was a former employee of Big B Restaurant.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Richard Sheek, Cleveland, N.C., and Wilma and Charles Lyons, Elizabethton, and a brother, Albert Deloach, Hampton. Twelve grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

HAMPTON - Mr. Albert James Deloach, 85, of Hampton, passed away unexpectedly, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital on Friday, December 2, 2016. He was a son of the late E.T. and Wilda Williams Deloach and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Fay Marrs Deloach; a granddaughter, Jocelyn Hendrix; four sisters and four brothers.

Mr. Deloach was a former member and past deacon at Hampton First Baptist Church where he worked with the Royal Ambassadors for twenty years and was currently a member of Hampton Christian Church. He was a willing volunteer, delivered Meals on Wheels and was a "handyman" for the ladies of the church. He spent sixty years enjoying and working in his garden and he also was an accomplished woodworker. He was retired from Sperry-Univac where he was a supervisor.

Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Gwen Hendrix, Hampton; Libby Shipley and her husband, Bobby, Jonesborough; a son and daughter-in-law, Tony & Ginger Deloach, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Heather Hopland and her husband, Kenny, Elizabethton; Curry Deloach, Johnson City; Glenna Fine and her husband, Anthony, Johnson City; Karen Lester and her husband, Derrick, Jonesborough; Amy Shipley, Jonesborough; and seven great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Deloach will be conducted at 7:00 PM, on Monday, December 5, 2016, at Hampton Christian Church with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, Minister, and Rev. Mike Stout officiating. Mr. Mark Grindstaff will be delivering the eulogy. Music will be under the direction of the church. The family will receive friends in the church from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday prior to the service, and at his home, or at the homes of any of the family members, at other times.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Louis Honeycutt, Mark Grindstaff, Terry Banner, Josh Smith, Jackie Smith and Floyd Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Herm Tolley, George Smith, Tip Smith, Tim McCloud, Albert Blackburn, nephews, friends and neighbors. John Edward Heaton, age 27, died en route to the hospital, Sunday morning at 7:00 o'clock.
Heaton, a member of the Siam Baptist Church, served in the U. S. Army from which he was given an honorable discharge. He had been home for the past four weeks.

ELIZABETHTON — Mrs. Nora Grace Lipford, age 81, of 128 Butler Hardin Road, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2008, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.

She was a native of Carter County and was a daughter of the late Rhudy and Rosa Deloach Heaton. She was a member of the Siam Baptist Church and was a former employee of the J.C. Penny Co. and a homemaker. Mrs. Lipford was a 1947 graduate of Hampton High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Heaton Love, and two brothers, John Heaton and Stanley Heaton.

Survivors include her husband of forty-one years, Charles Lipford, of the home; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews including a special niece whom she raised and lived with her, Betty Lipscomb of Lexington, KY; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bernice Roulstone of Orlando, Florida, Lucille Heaton, Jessie and Carroll Montgomery, Gary and Nancy Lipford, Jimmy and Joyce Lipford, and Gene Smith all of Elizabethton; and a special friend, Juanita Ellison, of Elizabethton.

The funeral service for Mrs. Nora Grace Lipford will be conducted at 2:00 PM. on Tuesday, November 11, 2008, in the Chapel of Peace of the Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Jack Roddy and Rev. Adam Polk officiating. The eulogy will be given by Becky Raulston. The music will be under the direction of Robin Montgomery and Bill Anderson. Tuesday, January 4, 2005.

Mrs. Nidiffer was the daughter of the late M.A. and Martha Treadway Davenport.
She was the strength of her family, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend.
She will be missed by all who knew her, as much as she was loved by all.

Mrs. Nidiffer was a charter member of East Side Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil

Beatrice Nidiffer; three brothers, Wilburn, Harley and Herman Davenport; a
sister, Evelyn Edmondson; a grandson, Randy Russell; a granddaughter, Diane

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Marcella Nidiffer,
Bluff City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Edna and Ralph Grindstaff and
Dorothy and Gene Oliver, all of Elizabethton; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-
grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 8, in the
Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Mr. John Smith, minister,

ELIZABETHTON — W.E. “Frank” “Red” Davenport, age 97, 122 Old Charity Hill Rd., Elizabethton, died Saturday, November 19, 2005 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Milburn Alexander and Margie Treadway Davenport. Mr. Davenport was of the Baptist faith and had been the owner of a trucking company. He served with the U.S. Army during WW II. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davenport was preceded in death by his wife, Ossie Deloach Davenport, September 13, 2001, one son, Harold Davenport, two daughters, Alice Yvonne Davenport, Margie Coleman, two sisters, Virgie Nidiffer, Evelyn Edmison and three brothers Harley, Herman and Wilburn Davenport. TWO ARE KILLED ONE BADLY HURT IN AUTO WRECK
Four Elizabethton residents were in an automobile accident near Linville Falls, N. C., yesterday afternoon, which left two men dead and two women severely injured.
The dead are Raleigh H. Lynch, 29, and Harley Crawford Davenport, 24; the injured are Mabel Stout and Marie Greer.
The accident occurred at about 2:30 o'clock as the quartet was headed toward Marion, N. C. The car catapulted over a 200-foot embankment, turning over several times before landing in a ravine below.
Failure to negotiate a curve is believed to be the cause of the accident.
Young Lynch was driver of the car. He was killed instantly. Davenport, with the two young ladies were rushed to the hospital at Marion, N. C., where he died six hours later from head and internal injuries. Lynch died from a crushed chest and head injuries.
Mabel Stout is the worse injured of the two ladies, receiving a fractured pelvis and a cerebral concussion. Marie Greer is suffering from bruises and minor lacerations.
Dr. McIntosh, the physician who is attending the young ladies, stated today that though Miss Stout is severely injured, he believed her condition would be all right unless complications should arise. She was unconscious when taken to the hospital. The attending physician said she would have to remain in the hospital for several days. Miss Greer will be able to leave the hospital within two days, he said.
Miss Greer, who was conscious after the accident, told relatives of the Davenport man that Lynch was driving recklessly and that she was afraid.
An ambulance from the McCall Funeral Home happened to be passing just as the accident occurred and aided in rushing the dead and injured to the hospital.
The body of Davenport was returned to the North Funeral Home here last night to prepare for burial, while the body of Lynch was returned by the Roy Hathaway Funeral Home.
Both men were employees of the American Bemberg Corporation.

Davenport leaves a wife and three small children, Bennie Jack, 3 years; William Carl, 19 mos.; Jerry Lowell, 6 mos. His wife was formerly Miss Mary Grace Willey. He is also survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Davenport; three brothers, Frank, Herman and Madison Davenport, all of Elizabethton; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Evelyn Edmondson, Elizabethton, and Mrs. Virgie Nidiffer, of Sullivan County. The Davenports reside on the Siam road.
Lynch is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Nell Lynch; one small son, Donald Haynes; his mother, Mrs. Ottis Lynch, Cliffside, N. C.; six brothers, Steve, of Greenville, S. C.; Therne, King's Mountain, N. C.; Adrian, Charlotte, N. C.; Jack, John Henry and Lem Rolland, Cliffside, N. C.
The body of Lynch was removed by the Roy Hathaway Funeral Home to the home of his mother, Mrs. Ottis Lynch, at Cliffside, N. C., where funeral and burial will be made.
Funeral services for Davenport will be held from the home of his brother, Herman Davenport, Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. Leon M. Hill officiating. Burial will be made in the family cemetery near Fairview Church off the Siam road.

Hospital Attaches Report Marie Greer, Mabel Stout In Better Condition
The two women who were injured in the automobile accident which claimed the lives of their two male companians[sic] near Linville Fall, N. C. Sunday afternoon, are recovering in a hospital at Marion, N. C., where they were rushed following the accident.
Mabel Stout, who received a cerebral concussion and fractured pelvis, was more seriously injured of the two women. Marie Greer received minor injuries, more in the nature of bruises.
Hospital attaches stated today that both women are much better today. A rumor afloat that Miss Stout had never regained consciousness was denied by hospital attendants.
The men who lost their lives as the car catapulted over a 200-foot embankment, are Harley Crawford Davenport, 24, and Raleigh H. Lynch, 29. Bother were employed at the American Bemberg plant.
Funeral services for Davenport were held from the home of his brother, Herman Davenport, on the Siam Road this afternoon.
The body of Lynch was returned to his former home at Cliffside, N. C.

He was a native of Carter County and was a son of the late M.H. and Martha Ellen Treadway Davenport. Mr. Davenport was a member and former deacon of East River Park Christian Church. He retired from Free Service Tire Company. Mr. Davenport was a member of the Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 F.&A.M., Chapter, Council and Commandry, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree, and Jericho Shrine Temple. He served with the U.S. Marines during WW II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Harley Davenport, Wilburn Davenport, Frank Davenport and Herman Davenport; and two sisters, Virgie Nidiffer and Evelyn Edmondson. Survivors are his wife, Colleen Simerly Davenport; one daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Terry Miller; and one granddaughter, April Miller, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was the daughter of the late Melvin and Bessie Treadway Bowling and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Keller in 1986, a daughter, Ann Price; four brothers, Paul Bowling, Crawford Bowling, Clifford Bowling, Jack Bowling; two sisters, Claudia Oliver and Hildred Hensley.

Mrs. Keller was the former owner/operator of Keller's Grocery. She was also a former employee of Susie's Shoes. She loved her friends and family and she loved to garden and cook. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Shook and her husband, Paul, Elizabethton; Carol Nave and her husband, Gary; Elizabethton; two sons, Jim Keller and his wife, Debbie, Elizabethton; Jack Keller and his wife, Barbara, Bluff City; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; a special son-in-law, Manuel Price. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

ELIZABETHTON – At the age of 99, Edith Clark Forbes peacefully went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Hermitage Health Care Center, Elizabethton.

She was born February 25, 1920 and was the daughter of the late J. Frank and Maggie Treadway Clark. Edith was a wonderful, loving mother and devoted grandmother, and dearly loved her extended family. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and making crafts. Anyone who had a meal around her table was blessed by her excellent skill as a cook. She was a fun-loving person with a great sense of humor. Edith was the oldest member of Hopwood Memorial Christian Church, where she was active for many years. She loved attending the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center, where she had many friends. Edith participated in the Pinecrest Home Demonstration Club and enjoyed their activities.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Forbes was preceded in death by her husband W. T. "Bill" Forbes; brothers, Ray, Ralph and John Clark, sisters, Alta Smith, Dorothy Webb and Helen Lewis. She is survived by a son, Larry W. Forbes and his wife, Carla; a grandson, Brandon W. Forbes and his wife, Sarah and a granddaughter, Laura Forbes Allman and her husband, John; a sister-in-law, Alma Tester Clark and a brother-in-law, George W. Lewis.

A Celebration of Life Service for Edith Clark Forbes will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in Hopwood Memorial Christian Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday prior to the service.

Ms. Shipley was most proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with them and all of her grandchildren. She also volunteered at the Senior Citizen's Center in Johnson City.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Delmar McConnell; four brothers: Harold Treadway, Guy Treadway, R.L. Treadway and Allen Treadway; five sisters: Lillian Perry, Alta Treadway, Elizabeth Lizzie Deloach, Faye Norris and Helen Thomas.

Pearl was born in Lee County, Virginia on January 4, 1927. He was the son of the late Robert and Carmen Treadway Canter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVada, two sons, Jerry and David and a granddaughter, Kimberly Canter.
He was of the Baptist faith. Pearl was the owner/operator of Speedway Paint and Body Shop for 29 years before retiring due to his health.
Pearl was a WWII, U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force veteran.
He is survived by one son, Edward Canter and wife Jeanne, Jonesborough; a sister, Pat Myers, Gray; a nephew, Don Canter and wife Pam, Gray; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Canter, Gray. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Shauna Kindle (Brandon), Elizabethton; Brooke Corey (Chris), Kingsport; Chris Canter (Sara), Gray; and Michelle Canter, Rolla, Missouri; and six great grandchildren: Jared Vermillion, Rylee Ray, Zoey Kindle, and Mary, Veda and Michael Canter.

W. L. TREADWAY REPORTED MISSING IN PACIFIC ACTION
William Lee Treadway, Jr., aviation radioman, second class, U. S. Naval Reserve, son of Mrs. Minnie Elizabeth Treadway, route 1, Elizabethton, is missing in action according to a report of Naval casualties released today.
Treadway, age 24, is missing in action somewhere in the New Guinea area. He enlisted in the Naval Reserves on December 5, 1941, in Virginia, and received his training in Norfolk, Virginia. On April 27, 1942, he was sent overseas where he served 16 months after which young Treadway was given a rest leave and returned to the states in July, 1943. In August, 1943 he was sent back overseas.
Treadway attended the Elizabethton High school and prior to enlisting, was employed at the Tennessee Chair Factory.
He has two brothers, who are also in the service, Pfc. Joseph P. Treadway, U. S. Army, stationed in New Guinea; and Cpl. Robert Treadway, U.S. Army, Medical Corps., General Hospital, Camp Grant, 111.

Chief Petty Officer, William Lee Treadway, Jr., Aviation Radioman 2/c, has been declared officially dead, said a letter to his mother, Mrs. Minnie Treadway of route 1, which she received from James Forrestal, Secretary of the Navy, on February 2, 1946.
Chief Treadway enlisted 2 days before Pearl Harbor, on December 5, 1941. And was reported missing on March 22, 1944, when he did not returned from a unit patrol mission.
He had been on combat missions from Australian bases and also in the Hollanadia, New Guinea area. His group was credited with destroying two armed vessels in Humboldt Bay.
He completed his high school work at Norfolk, Va. Another who was declared death was his friend, John Midilik of Aliquippa, Pa., who did not return from the same mission with Treadway.
Mrs. Treadway had two other sons in service, Cpl. Robert James Treadway who was drafted in September 1942, and is in England with a medical unit, and Cpl. Joseph Paul Treadway who was drafted on January 5, 1943 and served 31 months in the Pacific area. He received his discharge on December 23.

She was a member of the East Side Baptist Church in Elizabethton.

Earnest G. Chambers, 85, 232 Coal Chute Road, Elizabethton, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Chambers was a Carter County native and a son of the late Henry W. and Callie Deloach Chambers.

He retired as an employee of Beaunit Fibers, Elizabethton.

Mr. Chambers was a World War II Army veteran, having served in Normandy, northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe. He received the Europe-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal with Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart, five Bronze service stars, the American Defense Medal and the Distinguished Unit Badge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Jewell Adams Chambers, in March; and three brothers, Frank Chambers, Bill Chambers and Elmer Chambers.

Ms. Chambers was a member of Sims Hill Christian Church and a retired waitress from Tasty Freeze. ELIZABETHTON — Miss Christine D. Chambers, age 82, formerly of 220 Coal Chute Road , Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord at Life Care Center of Elizabethton on Saturday, February 3, 2007, following a brief illness.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Henry W. and Callie Deloach Chambers. She was a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. Miss Chambers was preceded in death by four brothers.

Mr. Deloach was a native of Carter County and the son of the late James and Floy Britt Deloach.
Mr. Deloach was a retired construction worker and was of the Free Will Baptist Faith.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Bobbie Deloach, Wills Point, Texas, and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita and Jack Hathaway, Elizabethton, and Marie and Rob Johnson, Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Henry B. and Frances Bertie Scalf Estep. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. In his earlier years Mr. Estep played semi-pro baseball with the Valley Forge Reds that was organized in 1938, disbanded during the war years and later became the Unaka League. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He served in the United States Army during World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Crowe Estep, December 31, 2001; by a son, Russell Estep; a great granddaughter, Ashley Younce; two sisters: Edith Estep and Sweetie Lyons; and a brother: Warren Estep.

Lena Deloach Nave, 85, Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord Jesus on March 9, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Lena was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late John & Abby Stout Deloach. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Stacey McClain, one sister: Laura Colbaugh and two brothers: Walt & Jay Deloach all of Elizabethton. She was a member of Fishery Community Church, Erwin.
Survivors include her husband: R.L. Nave, Daughter: Loretta Fitzgerald, Granddaughters: Missy Keith and husband Kevin, Debbie Edwards and husband Tim. Four Great-Grandchildren; Brooke Street, Nick Oliver, Noah & Hart Keith. One Aunt, nephews, nieces & cousins also survive.

ELIZABETHTON — Ina Mae Deloach, 87, 225 West Doe Avenue, Elizabethton, died Thursday, August 12, 2004, at the residence of a niece, Doris Cates, 273 Long Hollow Road, Elizabethton. A native of Butler, she was a daughter of the late Nat and Pearl Whaley Deloach. She had lived a number of years in Elizabethton. Miss Deloach had formerly been employed at Eagles, Kress’s and Big K. she was a member of the Happy Valley Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Manuel, Spencer and Robert Deloach. Survivors include two sisters: Pauline Poole, Elizabethton, and Effie Garland, Butler; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Lyons officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2004, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. ELIZABETHTON — Mrs. Pauline Deloach Poole, age 85 of Life Care Center of Elizabethton, TN and formerly of 215 Spring Street, Hampton, TN died Sunday, March 20, 2005 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Poole was a native of Johnson County but had lived in Carter County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Nat and Pearl Whaley Deloach. She was a member of the Hampton Free Will Baptist Church and was a Homemaker. She was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers. Survivors include one son, Jerry Poole of Hampton; Three daughters and sons-in-law, Charline and Authur Elliott of Hampton, Loretta and Jerry Ray of Butler and Paula and John Williams of Elizabethton; one sister, Effie Garland of Butler; three grandchildren, Laura Julian of Elizabethton, Ashley Poole of Hampton and Zachary Williams of Elizabethton; two great-grandchildren, Dylan Tuelle and Hannah Faith Julian both of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews also survive. The Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, Minister officiating. Robert Glen Deloach, 79, 335 Tenn. Highway 91, Elizabethton, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home.

Mr. Deloach was a Butler native and a son of the late Nat and Pearl Whaley Deloach.

He was a retired painter and farmer.

Mr. Deloach was a World War II Army veteran. He received two Purple Hearts, the Oak Leaf Cluster and four Bronze Service Stars.

Mr. Deloach was a member of Pierce Baptist Church, Butler.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Manuel Deloach and Spencer Deloach.

Survivors include three sisters, Ina Mae Deloach, of the home, Pauline Poole, Elizabethton, and Effie Garland, Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Nat and Pearl Whaley Deloach. She was a retired employee of Levi Strauss, Mountain City. She was a member of the Little Doe Baptist Church, where she was a former member of the church choir.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. Garland, October 21, 2005; by three brothers, Manuel, Robert and Spencer Deloach; and two sisters: Pauline Poole and Ina Mae Deloach.

Survivors include a daughter & son-in-law: Elizabeth & Junior McQueen, Butler; A Son: Bobby Garland, Butler. A native of Butler, he was a son of the late Mike and Lockiey Whaley Deloach. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Campbell Deloach, in 1980, by six brothers and two sisters.

He was a retired construction worker.

Survivors include a son, David Deloach, Elizabethton; two daughters: Carolyn Deloach Price and Elizabeth Deloach Reece, both of Hickory, N.C.; two sisters: Frances Deloach Demolski, Tampa, Fla.; and Rose Fest, Calif.; four grand grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
