    JOHNSON CITY - Ted McKeehan, 87, of Johnson City, TN, went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2021, at Franklin Woods Hospital following a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was born on November 30, 1934, to the late John McKeehan Sr. and Hassie Arnett McKeehan.
    In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by a sister, Rada Perry; brothers, Louis and Terry McKeehan; and sister-in-law, Rita McKeehan.
    Ted was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Johnson City.
    Ted graduated from Happy Valley High School in 1953 and attended Milligan College. He proudly served in the United States Army for two years and the Army Reserves for seven years.
    Mr. McKeehan was employed for 25 years at North American Rayon and retired as Plant Manager from PB&S/Brenntag Chemical.
    He was involved with fund raising and coordinating for Habitat for Humanity.
    Ted was an avid golfer, Tennessee Vols fan, and a gardener. He was also very active in sports, serving as a High School TSSAA Basketball official for 35 years and 21 years at the college level serving in the NAIA, NCAA Division I & II. Additionally, he was a high school Assigning Officer for 10 years. He played fast pitch softball until the age of 35. He also coached Elizabethton Babe Ruth Baseball for 14 years.
    Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 30 years, Mary Elizabeth Ward McKeehan of the home; sons, Teddy Wayne and Eddie Eugene (Sherry); daughters, Sherry Ann Hunt (Dave) and Lorri Carver (Ronnie); grandchildren, Brandi Forbes, Whitney Forbes, and Matthew Carver; great-grandchildren, Logan Deakins, Chevy Carver, and Paislee McDonald; sisters, Nancy Verran (Don) and Betty Archer (Ron); brothers, William “Bud” (Loretta), Tony (Jane), Jackie (Kim), and Bobby (Devonna); several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Albert Spaller.
    Due to Covid precautions, a graveside service and interment will be conducted at Shell Cemetery (225 Methodist Church St, Piney Flats, TN 37686) at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 21, 2021, under the direction of Dr. Tommy Hood, Senior Pastor.

    ELIZABETHTON — Rada Belle McKeehan Perry, 76, Elizabethton, a loving, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late John McKeehan, Sr. and Hassie Arnett McKeehan. Mrs. Perry was a 1957 graduate of Happy Valley High School. She was employed as a clerk at the South Elizabethton Utility District.

    She was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Perry; infant daughter, Julie Perry; and two brothers, Terry McKeehan and Louis McKeehan.

    Survivors include two daughters. Debbie Perry Lenden and husband Kevin and Stephanie Perry Nanney and husband David, all of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Aaron Lenden, Jessica Lenden Holt and husband Forrest, Victoria Nanney, and Vanessa Nanney all of Elizabethton; two great grandchildren, Alayna Holt and Brayden Holt; several nieces & nephews; her sisters, Nancy Verran and husband Don, Johnson City, and Betty Archer and husband Ron, Jonesborough; five brothers, Bud McKeehan and wife Loretta, Elizabethton and Ted McKeehan and wife Mary, Johnson City, Jackie McKeehan and wife Kim, Gray, Tony McKeehan and wife Jane, Johnson City and Bobby McKeehan and wife Devonia, Elizabethton; two half brothers, John McKeehan and Charlie McKeehan both of Elizabethton; her half sister, Lennie Ellis and husband Frank, Elizabethton; several nieces & nephews.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Ted Thomas.

    Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be, Grandsons, Brothers and Brothers-in-law.

    ELIZABETHTON – John William McKeehan, Jr., age 70, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at his residence after a brief but intense battle with cancer.

    John was a lifetime resident of Elizabethton. He was born on March 4, 1952 to the late John William McKeehan, Sr. and Laura Elizabeth Rowe McKeehan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rada and three brothers, Louis, Ted and Terry.

    John joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 1976, serving 8 years as an infantryman. He then joined the Tennessee Army National Guard and served another 27 years, where he retired as Sergeant First Class. In the guard he served as both a mechanic and Mess Sergeant. Serving throughout Operations Desert Storm and Enduring Freedom, he was twice deployed to Iraq and once stateside, along with countless other voluntary missions.

    John touched many lives during his long military and professional driving career, leaving his unique and distinctive mark on all those he met. A man who could drive anything with wheels, he surely logged millions of miles in his lifetime. He had a work ethic beyond compare. John has worked for Kenan Advantage Group for the past 7 years, hauling hazmat tankers. The family would like to express a special thanks to all John’s friends and colleagues for their kindness during this challenging time.

    John loved to be outside, whether it be farming, gardening, logging, driving or just a good ole fashioned bonfire. He was an avid collector his whole life, leaving behind a vast accumulation of assorted treasures for his family to discover.

    Those left to cherish and honor his legacy include his loving wife of 25 years, Leigh Chambers McKeehan, who was by his side to the end; his sons, John III (Lori), David, Eric and Chris (Kurt); grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Cody), Dylan and Waylon; great grandchild, William Brody; his sister, Linnie (Frank); and his brothers, Charlie (Cherryann), Tony (Jane), Bud (Loretta) and Jackie (Kim). Many other nephews, nieces and cousins of McKeehan Ridge and surrounding areas, many army and trucking buddies and his special canine companion, Lacy.

    The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 4, 2022 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway Percy Funeral and Cremation Services from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

    A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 11 AM at Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section, 53 Memorial Avenue, Mountain Home, TN, 37604).

    JOHNSON CITY — Teddy Wayne McKeehan, 65, of Milligan College, Tenn., passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022, following a courageous battle with COVID. He was born on June 10, 1956, to the late Ted McKeehan and Doris Walker McKeehan.
    In addition to his parents, Teddy was preceded in death by Maxie Patton McKeehan, his college sweetheart to whom he was married for over 30 years.
    After graduating from Happy Valley High School in 1974, Teddy played basketball at Steed College and received his BS in History from East Tennessee State University.
    After teaching history and coaching basketball for a few years in Cherokee County, Ga., and seven years at Volunteer High School in Church Hill, Tenn., he and his late wife started McKeehan Lawn Service, which he ran for 37 years.
    Teddy Wayne loved sports and was a diehard Florida Gator football fan. He also enjoyed playing golf with his brother, sister-in-law, uncles, and late father. Teddy was usually willing to go anywhere and do anything as long as it got him out of the house, but especially if it was a trip to Freddy’s for a turtle sundae. Every winter, he enjoyed taking extended trips to Las Vegas and Florida. For his talents in basketball, football, and track, he was inducted into the Happy Valley and Carter County Sports Halls of Fame in 2021. He was loved by all who met him.
    Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Eddie Eugene (Sherry); sister, Sherry Ann Hunt (Dave); nieces, Brandi Forbes, Whitney Forbes and Megan Patton; nephew, Seth Patton; great-niece, Logan Deakins; stepmother, Mary; stepsister, Lorri (Ronnie) Carver; mother-in-law, Wanda Patton; brother-in-law, Jeff Patton (Teresa); aunts, Nancy Verran (Don) and Betty Archer (Ron); uncles, William “Bud” (Loretta), Tony (Jane), Jackie (Kim), Bobby (Devonna) and Howard “Bud” (Phyllis); and girlfriend, Kim Rowe.
    Due to health and safety concerns, services will be private. Teddy will be buried at Patton-Simmons Cemetery in Johnson City. Honorary pallbearers will include Teddy Wayne’s brother and uncles.
