    Guerney T Pierce
    Guerney Thomas Pierce, 72, 233 Berry Hill Road, Elizabethton, went up to live in Heaven on Thursday morning, February 4, 2010, at his residence.

    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Armstrong B. and Donna Grace Smith Pierce.

    Mr. Pierce was a 1956 graduate of Unaka High School and a retired Lab Technician at North American Rayon Corporation after 33 years of service. He served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962.

    Mr. Pierce was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and served as caretaker at the Caldwell Springs Cemetery for several years. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and farming. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Grindstaff, and a brother, James O. Pierce.

    Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Myrtle Buckles Pierce; a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Randy Wilson, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Paula Pierce, Afton, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Emma Grace Wilson and J.T. Pierce; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and John Williams, Elizabethton, and Patsy and Ronnie Stout, Gray; four brothers and four sisters-inlaw, Ron Pierce, Hampton, Lawrence and Pauletta Pierce, Dean and Loretta Pierce, Dallas and Carolyn Pierce and Wanda Pierce, all of Elizabethton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a special brother to the Frank and Emma Buckles Family.

    Funeral services for Mr. Pierce will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, February 6, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Willie Lunsford, Dr. William Duncan and the Rev. Jim Hawk officiating. Music will be provided by the Rev. Bill Taylor. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 7, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the
    Rev. Steve Hilman and the Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, will be Jeff Pierce, Donnie Pierce, Ronnie Pierce, Chad Pierce, Matthew Williams, Michael Pierce, Stephen Stout and Gary Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be all his friends and neighbors, members of the Herman Weaver Sunday School Class of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and the 1956 Graduating Class of Unaka High School.

    The family would like to express a special "thank you" to the staff of VA Home Based Primary Care and the staff of Amedisys Hospice Services. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion and the Tennessee National Guard.
