Christine B. Fields, 86, of Roan Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Roan Highlands Nursing Center following an extended illness. Christine was born in Avery County, N.C., to the late Steve and Mabel Palmer Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dock Edward Fields, in 1994, and a daughter, Carmelita Fields Johnson.
Christine was a homemaker, a loving Mother and Grandmother. She was a member of Roan Mountain Church of Christ and enjoyed making crafts and visiting auctions and flea markets.
Those left to cherish her memory include five sons, Freddie Fields and wife Joy, Ed Fields and wife Karen, Rick Fields and wife Melissa, Robert Fields and wife Shelly and Cecil Fields and wife Monica, all of Roan Mountain, and one son-in-law, Jack Johnson, also of Roan Mountain. Brothers, sisters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Christine B. Fields will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 17, in the Fields Cemetery in the Buck Mountain Community of Roan Mountain with Mr. Clarence Cannon, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the Tetrick Rhododendron Chapel in Roan Mountain at 1:30 p.m. Friday to go in procession. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice, Roan Highlands Nursing Center and Johnson City Medical Center-Nursing Unit 4500, for the love and care shown to Mrs. Fields and her family during her illness.

Christine married Dock Edward Fields about 1948. Dock (son of Fred Austin Fields and Louretta Powers Silcox) was born on 5 Jan 1925 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 27 Dec 1994 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Fields Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee.
