    JOHNSON CITY — Ben Freeland Arnett fell asleep in death on Saturday, July 16, 2016.

    He was 91 years old and born January 5, 1925 in Hampton, TN. He was the son of William E. Arnett and Dovey S. Burleson of Johnson City, TN. He was one of eleven children.

    He was predeceased by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

    He is survived by his daughter, Carole Yvonne Ross, husband Ken of Jonesborough, TN; his son, Danny Freeland Arnett, wife Marty of Hilton Head Island, SC; brother, Lloyd Arnett of Orlando, FL; sister, Ruth Burgess of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Thelma McPherson of Orlando, FL. He had 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He also had many nieces and nephews.

    He served in the Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Stadtfeld Destroyer Escort in the Pacific. Ben worked many years as a gifted builder and craftsman in Orlando, FL and Johnson City, TN. He was loved by all who knew him, and will be remembered for his easy going nature and gentle ways. He will be missed dearly by all of his family and friends.

    The family would like to thank the staff at Lake Bridge Healthcare Center for their loving care and attention in his final days.

    There has been a private gathering of the family in his memory.
