    ELIZABETHTON '96 Ruth Irene Massengill Hendrix Wagner, age 92, 1633 Hillview Drive, Elizabethton, formerly of Bluff City, died Monday, December 11, 2006 at Hermitage Health Center.

    A native of Bluff City, she was a daughter of the late George and Margaret Plank Massengill. Mrs. Wagner was a member of Bluff City First Christian Church and a homemaker.

    In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Cody Hendrix and second husband, C.J. Wagner, two sisters, Margaret Rudder and Mable Cain, and one son, George Hendrix. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Holsclaw, Johnson City, three sisters, Georgie Warren, Bluff City, Edith Quinn, Knoxville, and Betty Ann Morrell, Bluff City. Six grandchildren, Tammy Holsclaw Jones, John Holsclaw, Kim Buckner, Jan Mobly Hendrix, Melony Hendrix; Steven Hendrix; and nine great-grandchildren.

    The funeral service for Mrs. Wagner will be held at 8:30 P.M., Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at the Tetrick Funeral Home '97 Bluff City Chapel with minister Roby Ellis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 '97 8:30 P.M. Wednesday prior to the service in the Chapel or at the home of her daughter, Donna, anytime. The graveside service will be at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Morrell Cemetery, Bluff City. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:15 A.M. Active pallbearers will be Brian Buckner, Randy Jones, Timothy Davis, Eric Taylor, Jerry Morrell and Willie Holsclaw. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to High Rock Bible Camp, c/o Elizabethton Church of Christ, 137 East C Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.

    Georgia Massengill Warren, age 100, of Bluff City passed away peacefully Sunday March 6, 2016 at the home of her daughter Nancy W. Taylor.

    Georgia was born November 8, 1915 to George and Margaret Massengill in Bluff City, TN, on Southern Valley Farm. She was one of six girls. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Margaret Massengill, husband Paul A. Warren, daughter; Edith L. Davis, Son-In-Law; Coy Davis, sisters; Irene Wagner, Edith Quinn, Betty Ann Morrell, Mabel Southwick and Margaret Rutter.

    She is survived by her daughter; Nancy W. Taylor, Grandchildren; Myers Davis of Schererville, IN, Timothy W. Davis and wife Lee Ann of Johnson City, Gregg A. Taylor and wife Sandra of Clinton, TN and Eric P. Taylor and wife Misti of Bluff City, half sister; Linda Kay Finney of Bluff City, great step granddaughter; Kayla Rushing of Wilmington, NC, great step grandson; Morgan Estes of Oak Ridge, TN, along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

    She was a loving wife to Paul Warren for 49 years, a charter member of First Christian Church of Bluff City and an avid farmer, gardener and substitute teacher. She loved flowers and tended her garden and flower beds till the age of 97. She loved music and singing in the choir at church. At the age of 12, she sang with the Tennessee Mountaineers and the performed on August 2, 1927 at the Bristol Recording Sessions by Ralph Peer, they recorded two songs that can still be heard on the Bristol Sessions. She is the last performer of the Bristol Sessions to pass away.

    A service to honor the life of Georgia will be held Tuesday, March 8,2016 at 8 pm at Tetrick Funeral Home – Bluff City Chapel, visitation will be prior to the service from 6 – 8pm. Graveside services will Wednesday 9, 2016 at 11 am at Morrell Cemetery in Bluff City those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50am. Pastor Tim Carlson of Walnut Grove Christian Church and Tom Edwards will be officiating, music will under the direction of Kris Carlson.

    Active pallbearers will be John Holsclaw Sr., John Holsclaw Jr., Jerry Morrell, Darrell Taylor, Anthony Comer and Mason Sherve. Honorary pallbearers: Tony Morrell, Michael Morrell, Wayne Torbett, Dean Torbett, Don Warren, Brady Harkleroad and Gerald Utsman.

    In lieu of flower memorials, contributions can be made to the Birthplace of Country Music Museum

    Betty Ann Massengill Morrell, 85, 700 Elizabethton Hwy. 19E, Bluff City died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Life Care Center of Elizabethton following a brief illness. A native of Bluff City, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Margaret Plank Massengill. Mrs. Morrell was a member of the First Christian Church of Bluff City, and she was an avid gardener.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Morrell and three sisters, Mabel Southwick, Margaret Rutter and Irene Wagner. Survivors include four sons, Tony E. Morrell & wife Dimple, Jeffrey D. Morrell, Michael L. Morrell all of Bluff City and Jerry W. Morrell and wife Sherry of Elizabethton; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Georgia Warren of Bluff City and Edith Quinn of Knoxville.

    The funeral service for Mrs. Morrell will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City Chapel with Mr. Tim Carlson and Mr. Jim Miller, ministers officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 P.M. prior to the service in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Morrell Cemetery.     CARTER COUNTY - Mrs. Donna Hendrix "Meems" Holsclaw, age 75, of Carter County, TN passed away Friday, July 29, 2016, in the Mission Hospital, Asheville, NC and is now at peace with the Lord.

    She is the daughter of the late Mack Cody and Ruth Irene Massengill Hendrix. She was a graduate of Bluff City High School. Donna retired as an administrative assistant at Harold McCormick Elementary and the Elizabethton City School System. She was a very active member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ and loved to study her Bible. She was a former member of the Elizabethton Women's Club and was a Cyclone booster. Donna was an avid Elizabethton Cyclone and University of Tennessee fan and loved sports; especially watching her grandchildren play sports. She loved her grandchildren and her friends and enjoyed watching birds, and going to the beach. Donna also loved to listen to Elvis.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Christy Michelle Holsclaw and one brother, George Cody Hendrix who was a former CIA agent who worked on the Blackbird Project.

    Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, John Holsclaw Sr., of the home; three children, Dr. Tammy Holsclaw-Jones and husband Randy, Carter County; Representative John Holsclaw Jr. and wife Sheralyn, Carter County and Kim Buckner and husband Brian, Elizabethton; eight grandchildren, Brooke Jones-Cannon and husband Ethan, Casey Jones, Alex Jones, Taylor Holsclaw, Kaeli Sams, Dana Belle Holsclaw, Hannah Holsclaw and Holly Holsclaw. Several special nieces and nephews including, Vicki, Steve, Jan, Melanie and Nancy and a special friend, Tammy Oxendine also survive.

    A service to honor the life of Mrs. Donna Hendrix "Meems" Holsclaw will be conducted at 8:00 PM on Monday, August 1, 2016, in the Elizabethton High School Gym with Mr. Roby Ellis, Mr. Eddy Craft and Mr. Dennis Pierce, ministers officiating.

    The family will receive friends in the Gym from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday prior to the funeral service. Committal and entombment service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, in the Mausoleum of Peace of Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Alex Jones, Willie Holsclaw, David Shields, Randy Jones, Brian Buckner, Steve Roberts, Fred Guthrie and George Ellis. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Hendrix, Ethan Cannon, Ronnie Taylor, Kelly Geagley, Jim Maupin and Dr. Phil Roe. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery

    Elizabethton - Kimberly Renee “Kim” Buckner, age 54, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital, Bristol, TN. She was the daughter of the late John Bell Holsclaw, Sr. and Donna Hendrix Holsclaw. Kimberly was a long-time employee of 30 years as a Pharmacy Technician for Johnson City Medical Center. She was a 1985 graduate of Elizabethton High School and a member of Elizabethton Church of Christ. Kimberly never met a stranger. She loved to be around people and her dogs (Jack and Bootsie.)

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Christie Michelle Holsclaw; paternal grandparents, Fred and Susan Holsclaw; maternal grandparents, Cody and Irene Hendrix; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bill and Joann Hill and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

    Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Brian Buckner, of the home; a sister, Dr. Tammy Holsclaw-Jones and husband Randy; a brother, John Holsclaw, Jr. and wife Sheri, all of Johnson City and several nieces and nephews also survive.

    A service to celebrate the life of Kimberly Renee “Kim” Buckner will be held at 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Eddy Craft, Minister and Mr. Todd Houston, Minister officiating. Music will be under the direction of Chris Jordan. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. prior to the service on Wednesday.

    The graveside service and committal will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Johnson City. Active pallbearers are Ronnie Taylor, Jimmy Oxendine, Jeff Huffman, Scott Fields, Alex Jones, Jeff Holsclaw, Ethan Cannon and Steve Roberts. Honorary pallbearers are Members of Elizabethton Church of Christ, past co-workers and pharmacists at Johnson City Medical Center and especially Dr. Fawwaz Hamati and Dr. Jason Hatjioannou.
