ELIZABETHTON – Bernice Jones Whitehead, 87, passed away on February 2, 2016, at Hillview Health Center.

She was born April 5, 1928 on Buck Mountain to the late Clarence H. Jones and Agnus Banner Jones. Bernice had a passion and talent for cooking, canning and sewing. She loved her family dearly and was the ultimate example of kindness and patience, always serving others.

She was a long time member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ.

Survivors include her children: Ronda Whitehead, Carolyn Perry (Norman) and Wade Whitehead (Ellen); her grandchildren, Susan Whitehead, Jim Crowe, Amy Jones, Jana Perkins, Jason Whitehead, Toby Smith, Jody Smith and Josh Whitehead; her great grandchildren, Brittnay Lawson, Brett Crowe, Beth Crowe, Hunter Jones, Tyler Perkins, Sydney Perkins, Madison Whitehead, Eli Whitehead, Abby Smith, Beau Smith, Dorothy Lane Smith, Shelby Whitehead, and Sadie Whitehead; her brother, Claude Jones (Dare).

In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Whitehead; her daughters, Dorothy Smith and Sandra Wandell; a great-granddaughter, Sierra Waycaster; her sisters, Virginia Roberts and Dorothy Ruth Taylor; and a brother, Charlie Jones.

Services will be conducted on Sunday, February 7, 2016, in Memorial Funeral Chapel, Elizabethton, TN with the family receiving friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. Mr. Roby Ellis will be the minister officiating. Burial will be at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2016.

Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. on Monday to go to the cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Great Grandsons.

Bernice married Floyd Whitehead on 26 Sep 1946 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Claud Jones, 88, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born February 24, 1935, in Roan Mountain to the late Clarence & Agnes Banner Jones. Claud retired from the Water Department, City of Elizabethton as a Machine Operator. He was an avid hunter, loved to cook and work with wood. He was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a special sister-in-law who was like his daughter, Gladys Sluder Burrough, three sisters: Bernice Whitehead, Ruth Lowe Taylor, Virginia Roberts and two brothers: Infant Max Jones and Charlie Jones. Claud was a generous and kindhearted person who loved his family.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years: Dare Sluder Jones. A special brother-in-law: Carl Lynn Burrough, his sisters-in-law: Louise (Jack) Cable, Alice (Dallas) Barker and Nancy Sluder, His brothers-in-law: Richard Harold (Dorothy) Sluder and Robert Wayne (Donna) Sluder. Many special nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023 in the Emmert Cemetery with Pastor Jason Hartley officiating. The eulogy will be given by Don Shephard. Music will be provided by Michelle Sluder. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday will be: Kenny Jones, Terry Barker, Brad Barker, Kenny Hardin, Nathan Norris, Jackie Blackwell, Robert Wayne Sluder and Jim Hartley. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Carl Lynn Burrough, Roger Norris, Carmon Whitehead, and Jack Arnett.

JOHNSON CITY - Mr. Ronda Wayne Whitehead, age 69, of Johnson City, TN went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the residence of his daughter following an extended illness.

A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Floyd and Bernice Jones Whitehead. He retired from Kysor Panel and he was a member of King Springs Baptist Church. He loved to go to the flea market, fish, mow the yard and his part-time job at the Senior's Center.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sierra Waycaster and two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Sandra Wandell. Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Amy Jones and husband Tom, Elizabethton and Susan Whitehead, Johnson City; a grandson, Hunter Jones, Elizabethton; a sister, Carolyn Perry and husband Norman, Jasper, TN; a brother, Wade Whitehead and wife Ellen, Elizabethton; an uncle, Claud Jones and wife Dare, Elizabethton; his special friend and side-kick, Joe Carrier and his special lady friend, Karen Nicopulos. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Ronda Wayne Whitehead will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, September 24, 2017 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Jerry Cornett and Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. on Sunday prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service in Bennett Cemetery, Dennis Cove Road, Hampton, TN. Active pallbearers will be nephews.

Wade Vaughn Whitehead, 70, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021, at Bristol Regional Hospital.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Floyd and Bernice Jones Whitehead.
Wade was a graduate of Hampton High School. He served in the United States Army. Wade was retired as a carpet installer. He was a member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky; a brother, Ronda Whitehead; and two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Sandra Wandell.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ellen Jones Whitehead; two sons, Jason (Christal) Whitehead and Joshua Whitehead; five grandchildren, Madison Whitehead, Eli Whitehead, Sadie Whitehead, Shelby (Matthew) Cagle and Maddison Sheets; a sister, Carolyn (Norman) Perry; several nieces and nephews; and his very special friend, Rick Hatley.
The graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 8, in the Bennett Cemetery, Dennis Cove, with Minister Todd Houston officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Dorothy married Larry Ray Smith about 1974 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Larry (son of Walter Ray Smith and Ruby Reece) was born on 25 Nov 1942 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 31 Jan 2016 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.
