JONESBOROUGH — Mrs. Ruth B. Turbyfill, age 93, Jonesborough, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at her residence.

Mrs. Turbyfill was born in Roan Mountain, Tennessee and daughter of the late Logan & Eva Lucinda Arnett Barnett.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lon Samuel Turbyfill; sisters, Martha Stockton, Faye Barnett, and Mamie Townsend.

Mrs. Turbyfill was of the Baptist faith. She was the best mother on earth. She loved to work around her home, cook, canned and always carried in the wood.

Survivors include her children, Agnes Shepherd, Piney Flats, June Markland, Jonesborough, L.C.Turbyfill and wife; Sherry, Collinsville, Miss, and Martha Cox, and husband Allen, Fall Branch; two brothers, T.V.and Claude Barnett, both of Roan Mountain, Tn; 14 grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren; 10 great greatgrandchildren.

The family would like to thank daughter-in-law, Sherry and Hazel Carpenter. They would also like to thank Dr. Dustin Clark for his house calls and his beautiful family. Thanks also to Home Health, Medserve, and a heartfelt thanks to all hospice staff and volunteers.

Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor John L. Stockton officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 10 A.M. Monday March14, 2016, at Mountain Home V. A. Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Turbyfill, Brandon Henley, Terry Miller, Andy Cissom, Logan Jenkins, Glenn Laws, Brett Henley, Shawn Jenkins, Landon Manis, Steve Hatley, and Joe Watts. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Ruth married Lon Samuel Turbyfill about 1940. Lon was born on 9 Jul 1918 in , Giles County, Tennessee, ; died on 4 Mar 1976; was buried in Mountain Home National Cemetery, , Washington County, Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
