    Notes:

    John C. Bowers, 73, of Route 2, Elizabethton, died in the Carter County Memorial Hospital Saturday morning following an extended illness. A native and life-long resident of Carter County, he was the son of the late T.B. and Bell Estep Bowers. Mr. Bowers was a Veteran of World War I, and a member of the American Legion Post No. 49. He was a member of the Blue Springs Christian Church. Survivors include his wife Laura Bowers of the home; six daughters, Lula Mae and Anna Bell Bowers of the home; Mrs. Reece Pierce of Route 2, Elizabethton; Mrs. Jack Carr of Route 3, Elizabethton; Mrs. Dan Farris of 418 Division Street, Elizabethton; and Mrs. Raymond Hardin of Johnson Avenue, Elizabethton; two sisters, Mrs. Earl Hardin of Route 2, Elizabethton; and Mrs. Dora Bowers of Ruby Avenue, Elizabethton; fifteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive.

    Rose Ella Bowers Hardin, 85, passed away peacefully the morning of May 6, 2023, in Pompano Beach, Fla., after a lengthy illness. She was born October 13, 1937, to the late John C. Bowers and Laura Peters Bowers in Carter County, Tenn. Rose was a 1954 graduate of Unaka High School. She worked in the restaurant and dietary industry throughout her professional career, including positions at Northside Hospital, Westside Elementary School, and T. A. Dugger Middle School. She was a member of Westside Christian Church. She was a life-long Elizabethton High School football fan and Tennessee Lady Vol basketball fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hardin, and five sisters, Lula Mae Bowers, Anna Belle Hardin, Ruth Pierce, Dora Carr and Dimple Farris. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Alexandra Hardin of Boston, Mass., and grandson, Elijah Hardin of Frisco, Texas. She is also survived by her niece, Inez Burton, and several other nieces and nephews.
