JONESBOROUGH — Helen Francis Rash, 91, Jonesborough, departed from this life on July 6, 2016, at Cornerstone Village, Johnson City Tennessee after a six-and-a-half-year illness.

Helen was the longest living member of Chestnut Grove Union Church, Jonesborough Tennessee. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Charles and Carrie Sevier Maddox.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Stuart Rash; sister, Grace Kernan; and brother, Wilson Maddox.

Surviving to cherish her memory are son, James (Jim) Rash; daughters, Ruth Hensley (J.D.), Jane Oaks (Ken), and Sharon Chandler (John); seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren; along with several great great-grand-children; also a special niece, Helen Schmidt (Bill).

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Cornerstone Village for their care of mom.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2016, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. Ken Gaskin and Minister Byron Paddock officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the service and other times at the home of the daughter, Ruth Hensley, 190 Saylor Rd. Jonesborough, TN.

Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Oaks, Frank Paul, Marty Cox, Wayne Fink, Bradley Cox, and Louis Hulse. Honorary Pallbearers, Craig Treadway and John Chandler, Jr.

Helen married Charles Stewart Rash about 1940 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee. Charles (son of Isaac W. Rash and Amanda (Rash)) was born on 30 Apr 1909 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 1 May 1969 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery, , Washington County, Tennessee.
