    MOUNTAIN CITY — Charles Robert "Bob" Cress, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 24, 2007, in Johnson City Medical Center.

    Mr. Cress was born December 10, 1920, in Johnson County to the late L.N. "Bud" Cress and Minnie Wilson Cress. He was a farmer and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepmother, Thelma Church Cress; and a brother, William Clarence Cress.

    Survivors include a sister, Margaret Cress, of Mountain City; five brothers, Jack C. Cress and wife, Charlotte, Joe Mack Cress and wife, Lois, both of Mountain City, John Cress, of Morristown, Jim Cress and wife, Dorothy, of Midlothian, VA, and Sam Cress and wife, Ann, of Mountain City; four nieces, Katherine Lowman, Pam Johnson, Perriann Stanley and Karen Sullivan; and nephew, Steve Cress.

    The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2007, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Haskel Ingram and Rev. Mike Penley officiating. Pallbearers will be Billy Ward, Mark Ward, Danny Grindstaff, John Shull, Pat Conville, Richard Snyder, Jerry Stanley and Jack Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Shull, Allen Snyder, William Arnold, Wade Snyder, Bill Shepherd, Dean Stout, Jim Snyder, Tony Milam and Steve Cress.

    Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.
